Title: Exclusive Interview with long time friend of Axl
Post by: EFISH on July 23, 2006, 03:10:43 AM
Me and Cotie just started a new site and Cotie is friends with a guy who has been friends with Axl from the mid 80's and still is friends with him. They even jammed together on Rock N' Roll with Traci Guns back in the day....

Cotie had a one hour interview with him regarding the old days, and a lot of info about Chinese Democracy and you can read it right here http://gunnersground.bbfun.com/gunnersground-about51.html

Some key points were about how this guy actually jammed? with Axl when they were looking for a new guitarist, jammed on This I Love, and he actually goes into detail about a bunch of the new songs, and you need to go here now and check this out for yourselfs....

http://gunnersground.bbfun.com/gunnersground-about51.html

There you can see the fine-points of the [over one hour] long invterview they had. There will also be a link to where you can see the video of them playing together long ago.

This guy was in the band Shark Island, which some of you may know.. they were a popular band until they broke up, and are currently back together. Anyway, check this out.. this is must know information!!!

By the way, this guy is a member of our forum!

From what I read that was total shit.  Worthless.  Checkmate is not a new song.

No one is doubting that the interview is real, good work on that. Its what he is saying that people are skeptical about. Includes me too. Damned if I didnt read every word three times though  : ok:

Well its alot of info about CD after so much time with no info so at first glance, its kind of hard to beleive what the man is saying is true. But, he's known Axl for over 20 years, still talks with him today... and he wouldn't just make this up...

hope everyone enjoys the interview!

IF he is a friend of axl,  talking to some web-site is a dirty thing to do.

He is not a friend of Axl.  he is a fake friend.

Not saying you're lying, but to me, it seems like a really cheap way to trick people into joining your forum. That "interview" is all either stuff we already know ("there's a bit of everything on CD") or not verifyable by anyone here (how Axl *supposedly* looked like 6 years ago).
Frankly, anyone of us could have made it up and you couldn't prove him wrong, cause there's no actual information anywhere in the "interview".

As goes for the copying - not sure if that's ok, but IMO it's not worth the read, so don't even bother.

This is about a member of this forum:

It was 1996 and he was flown in from Germany to LA. The suits at the studio asked him what music he listened to and if he ever heard of Guns N Roses. He told them that he played with them a coulpe of times. They had him play the solos of the old songs to see how he could handle them and his Welcome to the Jungle is said to be better then the original he also played Sweet Child O Mine and November Rain and some more. They had him play along with tapes and in his words described as: "Then they handed me a raw version of a song with heavy emphasis on pianos. There was a piano, drums and drum machine, and a bass line, I don't know if it was a real song though. There was also a very heavy song lots of effects and bass, I didn't like it." There was one with Axl singing, quote "his voice seemed far away though." He may have also played on some of 'This I Love' could only be described as in his words, "very emotional, light drums(i think drum machine at that time though), piano, and no major bass lines." The solos he played in the song cam around the 2 min point and at the end; they wanted him to improvise on the chords to see what he could come up with. he meet up with Axl there and his description of him was "big, bloated, he had a beard like the UYI days, his hair was short like it looks in the mugshot real short and was dark like it was in 2001, he was wearing normal everyday clothes..." he said they said Hi and bullshitted around listened to some music. He played his guitar and Axl played on the piano a little. When it was all done they at the studio he shook hands with the suits and they told him they would keep in touch. But while auditioning he could tell he wasnt what they were looking for.

I asked about past stories with the band also:

He first met Axl back in the 80's and they played together alittle(video included). He was also with the old band playing together doing drugs the rockstar 80's shit everyone did. He doesnt have much ties with the new line up just met them and thats about it. He also mention that Axl stole his lead singers stage moves.

His words on Chinese Democracy and unreleased stuff:

"If not released by December then there wont be a cd."

"People wont be disappointed."

"There is Ballads, hard rock, grungy rock and experimental songs."

"I believe Checkmate is real but weirdly mixed"

"...great stuff and some god awful stuff."

"Rhiahds has a different mix compared to silk worms but written better."

"Raspy for the songs more 2006 sounding then 2002."

Songs on Chinese Democracy for sure:

1. Chinese Democracy
2. Better
3. The Blues
4. There Was a Time
5. Madagascar

Chinese Democracy(album) went through stages:
96-97 it was more mellow
98-00 it was more industrial
2001-2002...nothing
2003-2006 it turned into everything piled together.
Under Geffen label

We will get a announcment early/mid August on chinese Democracy and US tour info to be release then to.

C'mon guys..
This is just ridiculous. I'm trying to get people to sign up for our site, so we got Cotie to make up this totally bogus interview, we looked up this person's name and everything. Ha yeah right! ::)

I could honestly care less how many members of the forum we've got. It doesn't matter to me or Cotie. Just because what has been said in the interview about CD we have decided is probally true, doesn't mean this makes it false. It just verifys what we thought was true, is true.

To those that know me, you guys know I wouldn't pull a stunt like faking something like that, you just know I wouldn't do that. I'm here, like most of you to enjoy GNR and enjoy 'kickin' it' with the cool members of the boards.

I actually talked to this guy yesterday and the day before, and he is the person in question. He doesn't want his name to actually be said here, or in the interview---but yes, it's real. I also understand why everyone is maybe calling bullshit through there eyes, but I don't understand why some are actually bashing Cotie and I. Whatever guys, I just tried to show you guys something that was very cool, but this shit always happens in topics like this. Next time, I'll keep it somewhere else.

Apparently if you ask anyone who was on the strip at the time then Axl did steal the Shark Island singers moves.  : ok:

It's just that Axl could sing and GN'R had songs were great and that Shark Island weren't much good as to why Shark Island were never the biggest band on the planet.  ;D ;D
