im 23 years old now and love my hair..

too bad my family has a bad experience with hair... so im starting now (or have in a little time now) to loose my hair..

seeing my hair line going further back. for the first time, im scared of aging!


but my question is this; what would you do if you loose your hair. would you get some sort of miracule cure (wich im thinking of trying. cuz my hair is my precious!)
or just skinn yourself/keeping it short?

yeah, but using some cure or something (if it does work, i dunno) wouldnt in theory be much different to using make up... my hair is what differs me (the most) from people. and big part of my style and image.

and since im in a hard rock band and we ARE going to make it, image really is a big part for it.

For guys it's okay.  You can shave your hair off and it'll look cool.  Girls get the shitty end of the deal on this one.

Been there myself had long hair growing up and it went around the same age as you. So i understand what your saying, but it's just one of those things isn't it? It's no big deal.? Alot less hassle and u never go grey? lol .

I have read that Kirk Hammet was going bald and uses something called Rogain.? It's expensive and u have to keep doing it. But personally i would'dn't bother. Honest it's no big deal.? ?But when u feel its the right time and it's v noticable then shave it urself, dont let someone else do it.? Just say that hair GONE!

And hey even without hair i can still mosh better than those emo kids will ever do lol just take that where the heart is lol.

Okay here goes......I think it's like you get your mother's father's hair genes or some shit. ?I am about to turn 26 and my hair just started creeping up my forehead a tad bit......nothing serious and everyone says I'm nuts, but I can tell just a bit where it started receding. ?My mom's dad has the skullet going (hair around, but not on top). ?My dad's family all have full heads of hair, even my grandpa had a super thick head of hair into his 80's. ?I think I'm getting the mother's hair gene. ?I cut my hair shorter and it looks better.....but if it does start receding bad enough to notice, I'm gonna just shave it all. ?The worst is having hair that is thinning out really bad and very noticeable. ?That's my fear..........but my advice would be is don't try comb overs or any miracle spray. ?I think with the pills, once you're on them, you have to stay on them for them to even have a chance to work (which is remotely low). ?Good luck, just wear hats!

I'm 22 and have no such problems, but I'm sacred shitless !  There are no signs, my hair isn't falling and all y family, from both sides, have good hair, but still it worries me.

But there hs to be a way ! Just looks at all the actors that have to have a sexy image, they have all their hair well into their 40s or even 50s (Pierce Brosnan).  Maybe they all had transplants, or meybe there's a miracle cure out there ;D

Go for the skinhead look. But do it before you really get a bald patch, then you will never get teased about going bald!

What are u complainin abt? I started going bald at the age of 16! So much so, now that i'm 21, I would've looked like a 40 year old.  ::). That is, if i hadn't started shaving my head 3 years ago. So now it's cool, everyone is used to it, people don't ask anything anymore... It's just the chore of shaving 3 times a week. But on the positive side, no suggestions from people on how to cure a receding hairline (everybody's an expert) , no shampoos or hair products and there's no need to fucking comb your hair!

I dont have a family history of baldness but Im losing a fair bit and Im 20. It started when I was 15 when I went on some acne treatment. Stuff didnt even stop my acne then but I copped all the negative side effects :(

Really?...Ive never heard of a helmet being a hair killer, but I guess the same principles would apply.

I only know about the hat thing, becauae last Fall I got in the habit of wearing one of those beenie/hat things that Bam Margera often wears, and occasionally if Im having a bad hairday these days Ill throw it on, but then it's like "Hmmm...no more bad hair day...or no more hair in the future..." :hihi:

I'm so blessed with the experience my family has with hair, my mother's father never lost his hair in his life before he died, I got thick wavy hair. The way to tell if you go bald is to see if your mother's father lost his or not.

I started growing mine from short last august, but cut it all off by april.  Basically it had already gone too far back at the front (if that makes sense).  Fucking genes  :-X

I guess you'll just have to have short hair, but there's still stuff you could do to it.  Personally I think when it starts to really go I'll shave it all off.  Maybe grow a beard to make up for the lack of hair on top  : ok:

There's lots of stuff you can try man.  Propecia, Nioxxin, Saw Palmetto, Shampoos.  Different things work for different people.  My advice is to start as soon as you see you are losing your hair.  I was losing mine but I think I've pretty much stopped it through the use of Propecia, Saw Palmetto, and good shampoo.  You can always have a hair transplant if all else fails!  :hihi:

The maternal grandfather thing has some basis, but is not a rule.  A persons father can also have an impact on hair loss.

If your mother's father started going bald at a young age, there's a reasonable chance you will be affected by it too.

However it's no rule and research indeed has shown that your own father can also have a major impact.

I'm balding in the front at 22.  Partially, it's because I really like wearing hats, partially bad genes, and partially the stress of having majored in journalism.

I'm planning on shaving it all off someday and just wearing at hat as I always do already.

I'm actually considering giving it the full chop right now.

4 years ago ( i think, times flies by), all of a sudden and for no reason, i started having bad headaches, an itchy scalp and my scalp started to ache really bad.
Then, i develloped what seemed like scars ?
My hair was falling outn i would brush it and i would have so much of my hair in the brush that i would end up in tears. I would pass my hand through my hair and it was the same.If i shook my head, hair fell off ?

I went to the skin emergency hospital near paris and they gave me a treatment ?

It calmed down, but i kept loosing some for the 6 months afterwards.

Some of it grew back since, but not all.

And i still don't know what happened to me or why.

An allergic reaction of some sort. Maybe the peak of a very stressfull period which resulted in this..

Im 23 and its falling out, but im going to Bosley for a transplant in about 2 weeks, it takes the transplanted grafts about 6-8-10 months to fully grow, so i ll be 24 when its all grown in.? I did alot of research and its the only permanent solution, there were 2 main companies, Medical Hair Restoration and Bosley, after meeting with both Bosley is my choice, their alittle more expensive, but you want this done right.  If anyone had a transplant please share what it was like, and how it grew in. 

did you look into propecia??? 

the whole hat thing is bogus.  its not the reason you lose your hair.  its all genetics and what kind of diet you have.

yea i ve been on propecia for over a year, i never had any problems with it, but it doesnt grow hair, it just helps maintain and slow down the whole process.

Have u considered shaving? I mean, transplants are expensive. Why do u want to walk around with ur head full of fake hair? Shaving is cool and easy to maintain. As for what people think, they'll soon get used to it...

yea, it would probably just be easier, but i dont want to be bald, theres nothing wrong with it but, its all about how you percieve yourself.  i still have a full head of hair, but its noticeable thinner then it was a year ago, so i figure with one transplant plus what i still have, it ll be almost completely full again.  Plus I ve seen people who went through bosley, and you cant tell they had anything done
