Title: Last.fm and GNR - A social experiment Post by: Howard2k on July 18, 2006, 04:00:29 PM For those that don't know - http://last.fm is a service that collects data about your musical tastes, regurgitates it for you and collates it with everyone else's information to build statistics for those that are interested. It's also a social networking tool.
What I found really interesting was that even though artists like Nirvana, The Stones and Nine Inch Nails regularly appear in the Top 50, GNR are nowhere to be seen. The top 20 GNR tracks are: Welcome to the Jungle 3923 Paradise City 3187 November Rain 2905 Sweet Child o' Mine 2586 Patience 1721 Live and Let Die 1624 Civil War 1620 Knockin' on Heaven's Door 1560 You Could Be Mine 1509 Nightrain 1276 Don't Cry 1268 Mr. Brownstone 1267 Yesterdays 1223 My Michelle 1174 It's So Easy 1170 You're Crazy 1111 Rocket Queen 950 Estranged 927 Out ta Get Me 912 Think About You 815 I suspect that those figures reflect REACH not PLAYS (ie 3,923 people played WTTJ) but I'm not 100% sure. I was thinking it'd be interesting to see what the figures looked like in two weeks if a bunch of people signed up. Would the top 20 song list change much? Would GNR make it into the Top 50? See what the power of the hardcore GNR fan base is. I'm only posting this here but if someone wants to copy and paste it to other forums, then feel free. You can sign up a http://www.last.fm. It supports Windows, OS X, Linux etc. Title: Re: Last.fm and GNR - A social experiment Post by: jaknudsen on July 18, 2006, 05:20:43 PM Yay, let's make a last.fm HTGTH group :peace:
