Title: Greatest Movie Survivor? A couple more things
Post by: Neemo on July 12, 2006, 10:05:15 AM
OK i went through all the other threads so far and I think that I will break it up into Decades and Genres.

the tallies i got were:

- 15-3 in favor of breaking down into Genres
- 8-4 in favor of breaking down into Decades

Now one thing is how many movies can each person Nominate and how long is each list? I was gonna say 10 like in the Album and Frontman Survivors? but once we get down to a top 3 in the genre/decade then they advance to the next stage.

How far back do we go? Pasnow suggested:

21st Century
1990's
1980's
1970's and prior

As for major Genre's to go with:

Sci-Fi
Action/Adventure
Drama
Comedy
Horror

I'll work on sub genres later....and i think IMDB is a good guide to go with, Documentary style films will be not allowed into voting. Movies can be nominated multiple times if they fall into multiple categories, but if a movie has already moved on then it is ineligable for further nominations.

3 or 4 days between rounds sound good?

man i think that's it...this is gonna be quite a challenge hopefully it goes smoothly, and it should be fun too ;)

we're almost there Stoned :hihi: Just a little Patience...mmm yeah

Hopefully I'll start nominations Friday so we get a whole weekend to watch movies :D

Another question - Which category should we start with? Alphabetical and go Action/Adventure?

and i think a week for each nominations round is a good period of time

Maybe were better starting off in alphabetical order, and even a half a week would probably even do for each nominations round since coming up with 10 great movies for each genre isn't extraordinarily hard :P

i think you should let the sci-fi into the action genre and maybe expand the number of movies per decade to 12-15.
and have 4 days for nominations and 3 for voting so we have a week per each genre/decade

just start it already i wanna watch movies and do nothin all day, fuck work :hihi:

I'm just working on a top 10 list for myself for action...and like 1/2 of it is Sci-Fi/Fantasy...fuck it, it can be a sub genre...if you really like a sci-fi horror that much just nominate it in the horror genre : ok:

also there is som many movies man...decades will be a good thing my top 10 list for 21st century action adventure movies is @ 20 and i still keep remebering more flicks i could add...once my list is complete...I'll post it and some rules...then we can start

i think we should break down the decades more before 70's

1960- 1970 is a whole era

at least 10 of my favorites movies are from there

same with 1950's
