Title: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: Andy-k on July 11, 2006, 11:56:40 AM On saturday Axl used this mic stand or what you call it , in the end of Paradise City. I have not seen him used this since the Use You Illusion tour. Anyone else notice this?

I also want to take a little side road since the other thread was already locked before I got there. The "the guitarist don't play themselves, there's people behind the stage who actually play the songs" thing. This "rumour" originates from Finnish IRC quote site (kind of like bash.org) and is merely just stupidity of one single person - I don't know who types in the irc for him 'cause it sure seems he's not bright enough to do it himself. His reasoning for his claim is that the guitarist don't even have wires in their instruments and they swing them so much that it would be too hard to actually play that way. I wonder how come he didn't notice that also Axl had a wireless mic, so someone must be singing instead of him behind the stage. Finland is also one of the leading mobile phone countries, but this one Finn has probably never heard of such wireless devices... Anyway, that's where the claim is from. There's absolutely no value of any kind to this, and no one in their right mind is saying anything like that. Sorry to not stay in topic. I hope people won't continue that conversation in this thread although I did, because the thing is just so stupid and the locking of the thread was the right thing to do. Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: Matsu on July 11, 2006, 01:27:19 PM I have seen Axl use the steering wheel-mic stand in some shows. I wonder is it same one he used back in the Illusions tour? It looks the same to me.
And like axe said, it isn't necessary to have wires in the guitars. Axl has had a wireless mic since 91' and Slash, Duff and Izzy/Gilby didn't have wires in their instruments during the Illusions tour. Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: russtcb on July 11, 2006, 05:17:03 PM all his mic stands regardless of style,? have a steering wheel for a bottom. At least at the Hammerstein first night, he was using a regular stand (but still with the steering wheel on the bottom) for the whole show until the encore then he switched to the one he always takes the top of off. On a side note; I thought Axl always had those custom made but Kelly Clarkson uses the same bottom to her mic stand too. I wonder if they're custom or you can just buy them anywhere? Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: Madagascar88 on July 11, 2006, 05:25:47 PM why is this trivial topic worth discussing?
Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: russtcb on July 11, 2006, 07:28:01 PM why is this trivial topic worth discussing? Because sometimes we pick other things to talk about than whether or not Slash should or will come back. It might be trivial but at least it's not the same old same old. Plus, for people like me who sing in a band and might be interested in finding out how to get that stand bottom it helps. Not trying to but a dick, but I hope you understand what I'm saying. Title: Re: The good old mic stand(?) is back! Post by: meanmachine78 on November 24, 2011, 10:54:38 AM Nice thread bump! LOL! I do not know if he used it or not yet this tour, I saw them on the 15th, but did not notice. I just like the mic because it's like a tribute to Freddie Mercury!

Axl use the mic stand during songs like Brownstone, Live and Let Die, Rocket Queen and others.. Never seen this thread before   |
