Title: Jarmo - An observation and suggestion.
Post by: Poof! on July 11, 2006, 03:50:26 AM
Jarmo, a direct note to you and all the other mods here. You wouldn't tolerate racism against ethnic minorities (or anyone else for that matter), sexism or any other form of intolerance based in discriminatory behavior, so I think the use of derogatory terms in reference to homosexuals as a negative should stop. I see it used on here all the time, and I am not sure if you and the other mods deal with that as you see fit, but I seem to have seen it slip through many times and I think it is very sad the level of acceptance for such offensive intolerance that reside here.
I refer to the most recent topic that was locked not because of its title, but because it "wasn't going anywhere." : http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=32984.40

To get a message board to work in an orderly fashion, there has to be rules, and you and your team have set and enforce a variety of rules on here, and you you do it with vigor, so how about adding this to your list of rules, adding more class to an already otherwise classy board?

Should have I mentioned all the reasons why it was locked? Of course it was also because of all the insults inside the thread and in its title.

Of course not. I was never insinuating you should mention all your reasons, whatever they they may have been, beyond the obvious. And I don't see how you got that from my post. But a comment from you about the thread's title would've been merited, I believe, as that was probably the worst thing about that thread.

You have a point.

We do try to tell people that there are certain words you really shouldn't use, but some people just think it's ok because "Axl used them too and he's cool".

Next time I will make sure to comment about such terms if I lock a thread that contains them.

That thread should be locked because its fucking moronic not simply for a word in its title.

That "word" you are refering to in the thread's title more than sufficiently labeled that topic moronic, long before you even clicked on it and read its content. So no, and yes, it should.

Just something to add:

There are many threads and posts here especially in the g'nr section. So, it is time consuming to make sure that every single poster is following the rules and not posting rude words and all of that. But, I do agree with you.

Yes, but by coming down hard on the people that do get caught violating that rule, maybe we can set an example and deter others from doing the same.

I can reply to individual post without having to endure smartass comments from you, who were not even a part of it. Thank you.
