Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Charity Case on July 08, 2006, 07:36:36 PM Rich and varied set. ::) It's the same songs over and over again guys. There is nothing 'varied' about it. He never throws Yesterdays or Civil War or Estaranged or You're Crazy or TWAT or anything else into the setlist. It was a longer setlist, but not varied in the least. Still sounds like a nice show. Looks promising for a Fall CD release and US tour. : ok: Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: knut on July 08, 2006, 07:51:50 PM Axl said something like: "This song is about something you need if you get your balls caught in the zipper. This is Patience"! ;D
He also played some of The Asshole Song before the last part of NR! Now that was some funny shit! Tommy was dressed as a nerd today. Had glases like these on: (http://images.google.no/images?q=tbn:93REviuAgjUZfM:http://www.northfieldartsguild.org/images/misc/nerd%2520glasses%25202.jpg) Amazing show!!!! :peace: Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Emilie on July 08, 2006, 07:55:56 PM Haha, what else did he wear?

Yep a few days ago it was chris and then Tommy this time. So fun! Rich and varied set. ::) It's the same songs over and over again guys. There is nothing 'varied' about it. He never throws Yesterdays or Civil War or Estaranged or You're Crazy or TWAT or anything else into the setlist. It was a longer setlist, but not varied in the least. Does any band change the set dramatically during a tour or what? ::) Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Loaded NightraiN on July 08, 2006, 08:30:23 PM Rich and varied set. ::) It's the same songs over and over again guys.? Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Surge on July 08, 2006, 09:38:42 PM I can't remember much of what was said, like knut said the sound was bad. They did jam on something that seemed like songs though, but I couldn't catch what it was. Axl did sing or mumble or something at least.
One thing I did however notice was the chemistry Izzy has with the guys. I saw him and Stinson really rocking "Nightrain"... it kinda looked like they were waiting for some part and then hit their guitar and bass against each other. I dunno if they actually did it, but I could see them laughing. And the same with Fortus. I think Izzy first took Fortus' hand when he got on stage. Also... wasn't he late for "Paradise City"? Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: izzy0r on July 08, 2006, 09:49:34 PM Oh my, this show was fastastic! MUCH better than the first show! (Thx to the crowd and mr IZZY FUCKING STRADLIN!!!!).
As said before Axl made a lot of jokes tonight, like after the fifth-sixth song "Thank you everybody, and goodnight!!":) And when he song the last line of Out Ta Get Me, he? sang "so you can bite me" instead of "so you can suck me". HOHO, lets hope the swedish police noticed that one..? But when Izzy arrived.... case closed...fucking awesome!!! "And let me introduce....an old highschool friend....another guitarist... mr IZZY STRADLIN!!!" CASE CLOSED, what a show.... Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: alcapone_dudu on July 08, 2006, 10:40:59 PM Thanks for the updates.

Thing that were killer: 1. First 3-4 songs! 2. Axl's voice was awesome the whole time! 3. Mr. Izzy Stradlin! He really rocks with the band, and he isn't so uncomfortable that he was in 1991. He is maybe more band member now than in 1991. And his amp wasn't tuned down and you could hear what he was playing. Awesome!!! He also had his cap on. 4. Meeting some of the board members before and after the show. You are really nice! My friend who isn't so much into GNR said it was a "fantastic show", and the highlights for him were LALD, SCOM, N.Rain and P.City. Ok, tell you more later. Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Rainfox on July 09, 2006, 10:31:20 AM Just back from Oslo. Fuckin' unreal show. Maybe the best thus far of the tour. Cool meeting you Jarmo :) And all of you guys and guygettes! Great vibe in teh city afterwards, huh? You couldn't go 10 feet without a person in a Guns tee or some joint or bar blasting GNR. Oslo Rock City? ;) Great fuckin' show. This was red hot. This boot is a must GET! RF Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Steve McKagan on July 09, 2006, 11:08:21 AM wow is that 8 solos? :( :o thats nearly all of a cd.. is there more solos everyshow??? if axl thought about it... during us tour he could have all afd .. bit of UYI and CD . without solos. Maybe 8 solos, but they aren't so long, and not so boring to see live at the concert. Sometimes you need a solo to take a breath between all the rockers! Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: madagas on July 09, 2006, 11:14:14 AM It is pretty obvious that Izzy and Axl are jiving. Me thinks Izzy likes the other band members as well! Tommy/Izzy ;D unbelievable. I hope they are writing songs together. Anyhow, sounds like a great show. We REALLY need a good high quality version of Chinese. Please someone come and save the day.... 8)

It was great meeting some of you at Elm Street, the Danes (RF, I guess we made up for the 2001 non-meeting ?;)), Erik, Will, Thierry (?), Steve and the guys from up north. The show was amazing! The band was playing great and Axl was on form (not surprising, but since some of you still doubt it, it has to be mentioned). I'm so tired right now. Got maybe 8 hours of sleep this weekend. Will post more thoughts later... /jarmo Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Madagascar88 on July 09, 2006, 11:46:22 AM it must be good to be Izzy...

Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: Rainfox on July 09, 2006, 12:13:44 PM Wow.... sitting here trying to get back to 'normal' again..... can't gather my thoughts.... hungover and drained. WHAT A SHOW! Our plane couldn't start from Oslo (departure time 10:25) and was delayed 'till 14:30..... and SAS information was non-existant.. Sitting here sipping some Chateau Cissac 2003 (my oh my what a scoop!) and getting ready to throw a chicken on the grill. Gearing up for tonights World Cup final. VIVA LA FRANCE! The Oslo show July 8th is one of the alltime great Guns shows. I'm serious. It was almost puuurh-fect. Bad ass. Wow. Boots should be high commodity! Eyes open.... :peace: RF Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: the dirt on July 09, 2006, 01:19:57 PM Sounds like it was a good show.

Nice Picture.. hope u injoyed oslo! : ok: Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: CD2006 on July 11, 2006, 10:08:58 AM alright, it's been 2 days and i'm finally starting to get back on the ground so to speak, because MAN WAS THIS SHOW A BLAST!! i got to oslo with my sister, who's also a big gnr fan (we must have good genes) around 6 in the afternoon and then hooked up with a friend of mine who had flown in to oslo and was staying at a hotel just across the street from the arena. so anyway, hung out there for like an hour and then went into the arena, bought cool merchendise and a soda (i wanted to remember everything from the show) and then went to our seating, which was front row and perfectly close to the stage. i had already seen gnr at roskilde and i was front row standing there so i wanted to try something different this time, and it was awesome! alright, the opening band came on a few minutes past 7.30 and i thought they were quite good, the lead singer had alot of energy and it was kinda inspiring. more to my taste than bullet for my valentine, who was originally scheduled to open anyway. they were on for about an hour, and an hour of waiting was ahead of us. this is when i decided i wanted another soda. not the smartest move, it would turn out later. we watched the roadies get the stage ready for gnr and it was cool watching, and at 9.30, an hour before i honestly expected them, the intro started and gnr hit the stage! and MAN were they on spot! i had waited 13 years (before roskilde) to see axl live and to see him right infront of me and hearing his voice tear through the speakers was just unreal! btw, if you haven't been to a guns show you can't really judge axl's voice. trust me, it's awesome. anyway, the band tears through the usual first 4 songs and then, after a robin solo, sweet child o' mine comes on and the whole place just explodes! same with you could be mine, and even better. the crowd was actually very appreciative of the new songs, it seemed, so that was cool. anyway, their playing is perfect and i'm really enjoying the show, but by the time november rain is on my bladder is so filled up with soda that i can barely bare to sit. i enjoyed the song, but MAN was i happy too when bumblefoot was introduced so i could fucking run to the nearest bathroom during his solo (no disrespect to bumble, i really had to go or i would have exploded), so i ran through the empty halls and to the bathroom, praying inside me that i would make it back before the don't cry solo started lol, and i got back the second it started! i've never been so relieved in my life, lol. anyway, fast forward, when they played IRS, i felt that this show could not get any better, it was perfect, because i had been wanting to hear that song so badly live and i was hoping for it, as they skipped it on roskilde. it was perfect! and i was content and happy. then, it happened. axl said he was going to bring out an old friend and i figured he meant he was going to bring back an old song, but then he said "LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, MR. IZZY STRADILIN'!" and my heart skipped a beat or five! it was fucking unreal seeing them on stage together, and i enjoyed every second of it! they played think about you, patience and nightrain and then closed the show and i was ready for an encore or two. chinese democracy came on and i was thrilled, and expected paradise city to follow it. as a matter of fact, i was certain it would follow it, because that's what happened at roskilde. but then the organ tones of MADAGASCAR started, and i felt like i was in heaven, lol. this is my favourite new song and they don't play it alot anymore it seems, so i didn't even dare to hope for it. it was pure bliss hearing it live. then paradise city followed after a robin solo and the place exploded again (as did the pyro techinics and confetti, the show was filled with pyro technics), and by the time the song ended, i felt like a freight train of joy had hit me for 2 and a half hours haha, i was so exhausted my voice was gone (i dont know how axl does it for 2 hours every night), but man was i happy. what a show. i will never forget it. oh, some side notes, axl was hilarious and made alot of jokes, said it was good to be back and was in good spirits the entire show. oh, and at the end of out ta get me he screamed "so you can BITE me!" hahaha, that was hilarious. he also said "TAKE THAT TO YOUR NORWEGIAN HEARTS!", and man did this concert really find its way to my heart. 8) thanx for the good times, axl! and do come back soon! ;D
EDIT: PS: to all the girls with small tops and nice cleavages passing by right beneath where i stood, thanx! ;D :hihi: Title: Re: July 8th - Oslo, Norway Post by: ppbebe on July 11, 2006, 02:42:28 PM CD2006, Your review is so fun to read. I can see the excitement vividly. :D
