I'm downloading the DVD, and was able to preview a bit of it, and the sound is quite clear, a little bass-heavy.

I'll post a sample when my download of this audio completes, which should be in about 25 minutes

what is your opinion of quality

A very good audience recording, but the bass and heavier parts have slight distortion. The solos and shit, they sound fantastic, but like, in the rocking parts, the band is not very clear.

All in all though, I think it's a great boot. Axl's vocals are very clear throughout, and it's a great listen.

Certainly a must-have for anyone who enjoys listening to gnr shows.

axl's voice is very clear unlike most of the boots ive heard where the guitar drains out his voice.

I'll try and have it up even quicker than Friday, since the YSI links are already down. I just paused my Rock Am Ring DVD download and upped the speed on the flac uploads. I only have 15/k a second upload, so it will still be at least a day or so. I'll keep you posted, or just check thenewguns.com

ok , i've changed the file structure around a little bit, RockAmRing-2006-06-02-DVDAUDIO is the name of the folder, not the one you had it named, and i took out the spaces in CD 1 and CD 2

I'll put it on the dime tonight, but I must warn, I have only 15/ks upload speed, so it'll go slow.

Timebomb - if you go to "view file list" you'll see how i have it structured, just changed it to that and you'll be able to hop on. Sorry for changing it, but it was needed for upping to my server.

I'm actually gonna get started on the torrent now.

note: If you downloaded the Blues track12, and you start and then close the torrent , copy that track12 into the torrent folder, and then restart the folder, and it will cause you not to need to download that track again

When he titled folders CD 1 and CD 2, he left a space between the D and the 1.... I took those out, so it would be easier for me to link to the files....

It has nothing to do with the actual recording itself.

You sent him the .wav files? He told me you sent him the AC3 and then converted that to WAV to FLAC

There is, apparently some difference, as the AC3 audio track would be true lossless. At least that's what the mods at dime told me.

But whatever, no need to argue anymore, by tomorrow the whole show will be available for everyone for direct download.

AC3 is lossy, converting to wav and then flac is a waste of space.

So, if the only audio source of the DVD is encoded to AC3, than it is totally pointless to get wav files extracted, as they are merely extracting from the AC3 audio on the DVD, which is lossy.

However, if you converted the AC3 > Wav > to mp3 you'd lose even more quality.

where are tracks 9-11?

every digital audio format is lossy in some kind of way, just WAV is much less lossy than compressed formats. on the other hand, it's impossible to capture a real lossless sound, simply because there's no material that could save the complete range of sounds. so every recording loses something against the original. anyway, recording with microphone isn't much similar to the original sound.

so why the fuck people keep arguing about this shit? someone needs "as lossless as possible", so something like FLAC is best solution. someone needs it just to listen and good bitrate mp3 (160kbps+) is good enough. so stop bitching about this, just grab what do you want and thank taper or uploader that you can download it. period.

I can remaster in flacs, but my speed in upload is 16kbps for yousendit.com. So i will remaster but not post.
