Title: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Lara on July 02, 2006, 05:42:46 PM The GnR show in my country (Greece) is scheduled for July 10, but I still haven't seen any posters or promotion of any kind (just brief mentions on music TV channels).
If it hadn't been for HTGTH, I wouldn't know either! I have the feeling this tour is not being much promoted, so it doesn't get as much attention as it should. How is the promotion in your country? Title: Re: Tour promotion Post by: Nighteyes on July 02, 2006, 05:48:59 PM I didn't see anything here in Sweden :(

At the moment there are huge outdoor posters in the center of Athens about the concert. From tomorrow until the day of the gig 3 BIG radio stations (Red FM, Best FM and ROCK FM) will be playing spots and doing contests with stuff that Gunsnroses.gr gave them to advertize the gig and the PRE-SHOW party on the 6th of July. MAD TV, the biggest music TV station, is advertizing the gig. There have been numerous mentions on the news of 3 BIG tv stations (Alter, Star Channel, NET), 2 of them mentioned the Sweden Incident. There was a good mention of the GN'R gig on the equivalent show of American Idol (Dream Show), which has great ratings. Even 2 of those GOSSIP shows mentioned the gig, for 15 minutes each... Most Greek magazines, newspapers, sites and forums had the news about the GN'R gig. Also, the magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Hard will be released with a different cover than scheduled due to GN'R's addition at the Rockwave Festival. Here's the cover of Rock Hard: (http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/3340/rockhardcoverissue115vh.jpg) People must be blind if they don't find out by next Monday morning that GN'R are playing in Greece... All the people I mentioned it to, hadn't heard of it. And it's not like they are Britney Spears fans or anything.... I haven't seen the huge posters that you mention, which is funny, because I work down town. I haven't seen the huge posters that you mention, which is funny, because I work down town. There are big posters on Katehaki str. and Kymis Avenue, the OAKA area... Many people (who have nothing to do with rock music) have told me that GN'R are playing here... There will be some heavy promotion this week. Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Lara on July 02, 2006, 08:15:13 PM There are big posters on Katehaki str. and Kymis Avenue, the OAKA area... That's good news, but they should also be some posters down town. Anyway, are you in charge of promoting or something? Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Lara on July 02, 2006, 08:16:21 PM There will be some heavy promotion this week. Great! :D Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Sweet on July 02, 2006, 08:21:15 PM If you look in tabloids and media in general you wont find shit or hardly find promotion of the tour or shows, but if you look for 'info' about his arrest in Sweden you'll find it every fucking where :-\
Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: kaasupoltin on July 03, 2006, 12:51:55 AM Gn'R really didn't need any promotion in Finland ::) But there is some magazine ads and there was also a TV-commercial that showed the old band :hihi:
Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Christos AG on July 03, 2006, 01:32:15 AM Anyway, are you in charge of promoting or something? No, but I'm helping as much as I can... Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: blueheart on July 03, 2006, 02:17:36 AM due to the fact that there were only 12 days on way to promote the Greek gig I believe that the promotion is very good.
Ok... many people still don t know anything about the gig but since there will be some heavy promotion this week I think that everybody will be aware of that on time Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: jarmo on July 03, 2006, 05:44:00 AM In some countries no massive promotion was needed to sell out the arenas. For example Sweden and Finland sold out very quickly.
I guess the promoters expect people to be more aware of what's happening than they were in the past. Maybe they expect people who like to go to concerts to be signed up for mailinglists etc. /jarmo Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: axl_rose_700 on July 03, 2006, 06:21:35 AM All I've seen is page spreads in magazines like NME!
Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: Christos AG on July 03, 2006, 10:38:28 AM Many posters in Athens today and a half page Ad (which is quite big) in Sportime, one of the biggest selling sports newspapers in Greece.
Title: Re: (is there any) Tour promotion Post by: RobJ on July 03, 2006, 05:57:25 PM In the UK there have been half page newspaper adverts, magazine adverts, and one really really old school tele advert, which has been played quite a lot. I haven't seen any posters, but I don't live in one of the cities where they are playing, so there might be some. I would imagine that there will be posters at the venue etc.
