Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Just wondering... a few people have commented that (flying in the face of all the evidence) Axl's current band is just a placeholder; he'll release Chinese Democracy and will then get back together with Slash, Duff and the rest "once he's got it out of his system." Leaving aside the fact that these people are living in a dream world, in the unlikely event that Axl were to leave Ron, Dizzy, Tommy and the others high and dry to get back together with people he hasn't seen for 10 years and doesn't like very much... where would that leave the rest of GN'R? Ron/Tommy/Richard/the others have clearly got chemistry together... Are they enough of a musical draw for you guys that you'd go and see them with a new lead singer? (Scott Weiland? ;) )

I am glad I have seen VR though - their on-stage chemistry is amazing too - they've moved on, so I thought I should - would highly recommend seeing them if your a fan of their playing.

I was a fan of Robin's before GN'R, and I probably would've followed his career regardless of what shape it took, and if Axl got rid of these guys in order to get back with the old GN'R, I'd be more excited about what the remains of the new GN'R could do than the old GN'R.

I wouldn't travel as far as I do for Gn'R, but if any of them (solo, or any subset of the band, or Buckethead, or Gilby [1]) played a gig somewhat reasonably close to where I live, sure! I have seen Gn'R 4 times this year, and was very impressed.

The band seem to get along really well - for example Robin and Richard, Richard joined Tommy for some of his gigs on the Village Gorilla Head Tour, Dizzy helped out on VGH, ... . That's something I really find cool :love:

IMO the current lineup ist the best band that existed since I got into the Gn'R thing (which was after Izzy had left). Might be that the "original" lineup was better than the current one before 1991, but after 1991, they were constantly quarreling etc. The 2002 band was great - Buckethead IMO is a genius of a guitarist, but he just didn't fit into the band as good as Ron.

[1] I have seen Velvet Revolver, and if you want my opinion on them, go look for the review I wrote. That's why they're missing in that list.

What makes this "band," what has ALWAYS made the band is Axl's voice.  And like someone said earlier, you can't say anything about this current lineup until something from the studio is actually released.

scott weiland replaced Axl in the 90\\\'s era guns n roses line up. ?he doesnt suck either. he is a good singer too.

Although I own 2 Replacements ablums & 1 NIN, I do like all the bands & did see Primus at Lollapalooza '94 (I was more there to see AIC among others) Anyway, to answer the original question, well it depends on the singer. If it was Weiland, no way.. I can put up with VR but still think they could have gotten a better singer, I never liked him from day 1 with STP.

Also depends how good their album was I might buy the CD. Don't think I'd see them in concert though. One sidenote: I don't think this combo would ever have formed had it not been for Axl & the chance to play in GnR. So it's kindof a moot point.

 I wouldn't waste my Money to see this Band without Axl. He's the star of the show. Frankly I would be hesitant to see the Band as it is now since in my eyes it's barely Guns n Roses. But without Axl you've REALLY got nothing!

In short No.  I really rate the band.  But for me, the band without Axl would not induce me to pay the price of the ticket.

After seeing them in London on the 7th, i'd have to give a resounding YES! Great guys, great chemistry....would definately go see them w/out Axl. If I'd have been asked before the gig however......

i would see buckethead live. as far as the new band goes, it depends. i definatly wouldnt pay over $30 to see them. ill tell you one thing ,if somebody said i had to pick one band to see between them, linkin park, yellowcard, coheed, or any of those new bands out today, hands down i would pick the new band.

I think I'd go see any band that Richard was playing in as long as I liked the music the band was playing. That guys fucking rocks. He was awesome at Hammerstein. To be honest I dont' really care about any of the other guys really. I think Tommy should just go to Soul Asylum.

Fuck yeah I would, I was a fan of both Tommy and Robin before they were even in GNR. If Richard, Robin, Tommy, Brain Chris and Dizzy formed a band with say Tommy on vocals then that would be a kickass band. We know Tommy can sing great just from his solo album and we know those guys can write kickass music.

HAha, without Axl maybe I would want to see them just to laugh at the mayhem.  Yes they are all talented, but they have such different styles and like it or not were brought together by a want of money or a wish to play with Axl.  If theoretically they all had found eachother on their own and worked their way up the music ladder together then hell yeah they have the talent ot be amazing, but take away Axl, there would be no band.

If the band were so tight and together like they would have you believe theyd be in the public eye together, but the way it is now, axl has isolated himself from the rest of the `band ` so thet speaks volumes right there.
