Title: Where would Guns rank in your all-time best gigs? Post by: jonnybgoode82 on June 28, 2006, 07:21:23 AM I've seen em three times and I can honestly say that one show would be absolute top of my list, one hovering outside my top 10 and one stuck in lower midway.

I was 15 years old and this was my first 'major' gig. I remember turning the corner at Wembley and see more people than I'd ever see in my life, all waiting to go into the stadium. The whole day totally blew my mind, and has always been an experience I always measure other gig's against. The May 12th GNR concert is pretty close, but the Frank show is unbeatable.

Post by: mikepatton on June 28, 2006, 10:01:57 AM I saw them in Brooklyn at L'Amours in October of 1987 a couple days before Halloween...Badass...What would become the biggest band in the world playing in some small club and having the time of their life..........ALso in December 1991 at Madison Square Garden which was odd without Izzy and Axl ranting and raving th entire show......and July of 1992 with Metallica and Faith No More at Giants Stadium was radical cuz Faith No More is my fav band....Mike Patton taunting the New Jersey crowd about Jimmy Hoffa and making fun of Sprinsgteen and oen of the few shows on that tour that went off without any problems

Journey was okay until their last 4 songs which were great and Def Leppard was great minus maybe 2 songs. GNR in 2002 still takes the cake for me though. Even though people say Axl was at his worst then, it still was the best concert I've been to, hopefully this fall that will change. On a side note, in between Journey and Def Leppard they played "Coma" for the crowd. I was stoked. I saw one chick who was as well. 2 out of 8,000 ain't bad i guess.

Queensryche...Operation Mindcrime ...Empire tour. Never saw a Floyd show because Roger wasnt in it, but I imagine it would be similar to this. 6. Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult...Black and Blue tour. 7.AC/DC...Back in Black tour 8.Paul Mccartney 2002 cause he is a fucking beatle. 9.Pantera with Type O negative Far Beyond Driven...my friend caught a drum head from Vinnie Paul. We were so inspired we stole a street sign from Pantera Ave at three in the morning. 10.GNR with Soundgarden pretty good but I had some shitty seats (college student and all...plus I had started working out and couldnt lift my fucking arms over my head. 11. Judas Priest,Megadeath,Sepultura? Foxborough, Ma, Sept 11th 1992, Faith No More/Metallica/GnR. It was NOT the best GnR gig I've seen (that would go to their Hartford date in '93, followed VERY closely by the New Haven date they played 3 nights earlier). But it was, by far, the best concert I've seen. Just unreal. The stadium atmosphere. 3 great bands in their prime. And a very LONG show, from start to finish. I've been to about 6 Guns shows: (none after 92 tho :-[ ) I had 2nd row center seats at the Aug 3, 1991 show at the LA Forum. Looking back it was the best $400 (2 tix) I ever spent. ;D They played for about 4 hours. Skid Row came out, i think Shannon Hoon sang as well. Post by: Chief on June 30, 2006, 12:36:32 AM i've seen a ton of great shows but i still think that GNR at the HOB for new years is #1 for me, I had waited soooo long to see Axl play live and all the buildup just was insane!!! it was an electric night and i waited in line the longest time ever for a concert.
the first night of the Hammerstein was also right up and right after are the other Vegas Hard Rock shows and the 2nd night of Hammerstein. i cant wait to finally see them back in LA. so, GNR gigs definitely fill up my top 20 gigs of all time.. no one can match Axl's stage persona, at least for the bands i have seen!!! Not so much about the band being on, but NOBODY knew what to expect. No Demos, no leaks, no pictures of the band......Hell, Everyone in line was checking each other's tickets to see if they were real since this was the first show in over seven years. The show didn't start til around 3 in the morning and it was definitely a surreal experience for anyone that was at HOB. I've seen better sounding guns shows in a lot of ways, but everything surrounding that show made it the best ever.

During the show we literally saw people being body-slammed to the hard turf in the many mosh-pits! You all looked like little ants!
