That makes me sick just looking at the pictures. I'd adopt the dog in a minute just because I feel so bad for him.

Animal abuse is my personal number one unforgivable offense... those people deserve the absolute worst. When I lived in Chicago, I worked at their Humane Society, and the number of mistreated animals that came in could turn your stomach.
I give annually to the ASPCA to help out. They do great work for abused animals.

me? i get really upset, when things happen to people, it your talking about things that are posted on this board i dont click on every topic, the ones i click on i usually post on. i got really upset about the jon benet ramsey thing, i hate when people victimize, children and animals, but i hate it when anyone is killed, also if you look at the columbine post in here i say  i think its horrible that these kids did this to their peers, its a horrible thing when people and animals are abused or killed. i dont discriminate.

nycangel, sorry hun, i didn't mean this towards you. i meant it in general. I find some people on the board pretty careless or ruthless and all of a sudden, a dog is victimised and they go all soft, so i wonder why some can't " feel" for people too, that's all.

I think it's the innocence. Same reason you can show a grown man killed in a Hollywood movie with no sympathy, but the only film I can EVER recall seeing a child actually murdered - on-screen, realistically - was in John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13. And the scene is still controversial today in film buff circles.

Animals, children, and even women (but less so) come across as being innocent and I think that's why more people react to their deaths.

For me, I care more about animals because I feel like almost all humans are aware to some degree - they know what's out there - whereas with animals, they are totally naive and trusting and rely on their masters (well, especially with dogs) and when you have an abusive master, the dog doesn't even understand what's going on.

When a human is tortured they at least have an understanding of what is happening to them.

No abuse is acceptable-human or animals, in my opinion, and anyone found guilty of such shit ought to be locked up forever with the key tossed permanently.

If you think that to be true, then how can an animal, only doing what is natural for him and what it's instincts tell it to do, be concidered bad?
