Title: The new album will content songs fading away?
Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on June 26, 2006, 11:21:12 AM
As in AFD has nightrain ending fading away and the illusions have the garden song fading away, you think that Chinese Democracy will have songs fading away? I've think that GNR is band that likes to make a end for a song. There a few songs that has that fade away style is not that I don't like but I found a little less creativity but hey Nightrain is superb  : ok:
Well any ideas on this one?

Well, the demo we have for "Catcher In The Rye" is ending fading away ...

None of the three others.

I hope there's much songs with an actual ending, i don't like the fading thing

I think that's because Catcher is cut at the end, not that the actual song fades.

Exactly.

Judging by the version we've heard so far, to me at least it sounds like the outro was a work in progress, both vocally and musically, so they simply decided to fade out the song at that particular part until more work could be done on the song...and hopefully has... :hihi:

Pointless thread because were speculating but nobody has any idea. How are we supposed to know? Unless you go ask Axl or somthing!

Personally I don't like fadeaways they seem a bit lazy. Guns have some amazing outros and I wanna hear more.

Pointless but again makes you wonder if there will be some song with that kinda ending cause in AFD there was only 1, and it's perfect.

Sorry, this thread is pretty dumb. You are totally grabbing here. We have no clue what the songs will be like yet in their finished forms. In my opinion it is not even worth discussing. But...have fun if you are into this sort of thing, I guess.  :peace: : ok:

I'm hoping for the usual GNR strongpoint - Good outros. Just fading out has always struck me as incredibly lazy.

funny , i've wondered the same thing, and by the way, "Locomotive" has an awesome progressive outro and a fade away ending, i think a song like with that type of feelin and with a fade away makes you think, through time those songs become timeless, ageless.  : ok:

I gotta disagree there.  I think Catcher is near perfect the way it is.  Very little tweaking needed there in my view.

I think we disagree to disagree Kayoss :hihi:

I love the ending to Catcher as it is already...I just think it wont even touch the final product whenever that may grace our ears...

The only "tweaking" I would do to the outro would be to have Axl extend his final note a few seconds longer much alike the beautiful ending of The Blues.. : ok: :D

Exactly I think GNR is the best band making outros, like you said LOCOMOTIVE is the greatest, november rain, PC, RQ are defenitely the signature of the band, so I only hope Chinese Democracy have that kinda of outro

Nightrain was the most disappoiting outro with the fade. Slashs solo gets cut off right at its peak...they shoulda recorded it like its done live; after the solo redo the intro.

Coma has a GREAT outro...

Fade outs or strong outros, I guess it depends on the mood of the song.

Yes, I agree your post is the stupidest post ever, but why point it out? Atleast try not to be an attention whore by pointing out how your post is stupid spam...  Think outside the box!

Anyway, this thread really makes you think! I don't think they'll use the fade.

Is fading still used today by alot of modern bands? :-\

It always struck me as an old recording technique from 10+ years ago, to add to the overall flow of the record for the naked ear.

Actually, Im pretty sure you'd be in the running for that title. Especially after the slew of posts you made when the tour started.

Anyway, as to the thread - Ive never been a big fan of fade outs. Simply because I think they are cheap and I prefer stuff on the record that can be replicated live.
