Title: gnrx
Post by: hackvresse on June 24, 2006, 08:41:28 AM
back in 2002 gnrx was the biggest GnR forum. I remember the admin said that sometime - when CD is near - the board will be back. So what happened to that?

Chris let it die.

I used to mod on it ....

I don't even know what's become of him.

Anybody got news ?

And no, nothing to do with mygnr.

Chris was/is a huge fan of the bucket. :hihi:

used to be a mod there 2.
I guess it was exhausting to maintain the forum for c2ya.
if you guys remember, at the end, there were bandwidth problems.
I tried to find c2ya on the remaining forums a couple of times, but never managed.

the forum actually evolved from c2ya.com , a buckethead fansite.
I hope Chris gives us a sign, tells us what happened with him.

some of the members are at the temple, some are at the nothingboard.

I talked to Chris about a year ago, he was living in Texas or something and was really busy all the time. He said he was thinking about bringing gnrx back but he never did.

Pure was the "insider" who predicted the VMA gig... Which was already a huge rumor to begin with. he'd make a bunch of claims, then his posts consisted of smilies. This is a Pure post:

  ?:-[ :P 8) :o ;D :-\ :D :smoking:

And people would actually spend weeks trying to decode them. He finally screwed himself when he said the band had broken up after the tour was cancelled. He disappeared after that.

It was a cool site, but lame how he took it down, though. jarmo was very cool in welcoming us in during our mass exodus.

I remember you Lucky!! 8)

I used tor ead GNRX as well as CD.com back in the day.

Some things I liked about those places, some things I didn't....

It's always nice to have alternatives so everybody can find their place.

I do prefer this site... Great forum and posters.

One of the things I didn't like about X was the fact you weren't allowed to write the old line ups names.

back in the day Xozi's site was also quite big, and the Temple was at it's max. most of the forums started closing down after the 2002 disaster.
there were probably 5-10 forums with 1000+ members.

here are some of the members I remember from gnrx.com

aero, jazyme(spelling?), greg

Back in the day when I was on CD.com (and later GNRX) I always considered Here Today to be the CNN (Cnn of a few years ago mind you) of the Guns N' Roses message board world. There wasn't a lot of discussion like the other boards, but it was the only place I trusted for factual news items. It was the only board left I really liked after CD and GNRX went away. I always just stayed the hell away from mygnr.com, I thought it was absolutely terrible. It's not terrible now and I visit it frequently, but I sure did hate it back then.

Post by: Lucky on June 24, 2006, 06:24:22 PM
the CNN of GNR for me used to be www.LostRose.com but it got shut down :'(
back in 2002 there were bunch of gangs on the forums.
and everybody was posting on 10 boards ;D
I remember the fights among the gangs,....

true though, some people were RIGHT snobs when we had gnrx, simply because we had porn instead of politics, but it was F U N

I havent seen undercover from 2001. he had stopped posting there even before chinesedemocracy was hacked.

I also wonder what happened with undone.

2 bad many of the old guys gave up.
even xozi gave up on fights, and I really enjoyed reading those
and the royal queenie....

they are still at the gnrfans.

best not starting fights.

Plus, as a community, we have worked hard to have some form of " fan" credibility, fights would destroy it all and we would loose out on it ( regarding the band)

Title: Re: gnrx
Post by: Lucky on June 24, 2006, 07:53:56 PM
I think arguments are not all that bad.
after all we are not the "all saints" fans but GNR fans ;D
a little arguing here and there only makes the things more interesting.
I'm not an anarch fan, but a loose atmosfere is cewl.
