get it out your heads now that they will show more than 1 song. They have NEVER shown more than one song from any band in the highlights show. GNR will be no exception. They may not even show them at all. Last year they didn't show Black Sabbath for fucks sake.!

They showed 2 or 3 for SOAD's headline set last year. We can hope for something decent.

when they showed the carling festival highlights in 2002 they missed G N' R completely.......fuckers :(

On the highlights for Download last year they only showed 1 Velvet Revolver song (Fall to Pieces)...but I don't think VR were headliners.

Anyways, sometimes on the Kerrang channel they have Download highlights which are 30 mins for 1 band, (They have done this for MCR quite a lot).

I'm gonna have to fiddle with my aerial if i want to watch this.

The whole show was pro-shot. Velvet Revolver's show last year managed to be leaked, dunno if were gonna be so lucky with this one though.

They will show one complete song from every band by the way. Obviously they gonna show it proshot, you think they use audience shot footage?  :rofl:

1 hour, 5 bands, so thats 12 minutes each minus time for adverts  :hihi: so 2 songs or 1 long song at tops  :hihi:

Last year VR only had one song shown at the end of the show (Fall To Pieces) if i remember correctly, i cant remember if they were headliners though. Also, Black Sabbath werent allowed to be shown coz it was part of Ozzfest or something, actually, that would have meant there should have been more time for VR....

i dont know know if anyones noticed but on kerrang (tv not radio) in the uk ,they are showing half an hour i think 9.30 till 10.00 highlights of download i think the first one is on monday ,then wed then i think thurs, and they mention gnr with other bands,dont know whether anyones already posted this ,but i thought i,d let people know.

Trust me guys, they will show 1 fucking song OK? Those few bands they listed are just a few of the ones they will show. They will probably show twice as many as that in 1 hour.

Hope they show a different song on Kerrang though. (thats if they are gonna show gnr at all)

OOPS! Looks like last night they showed 2 metallica songs, and 2 trivium songs. Also, they showed the last metallica song of their set, which means we'll probably get Paradise City tonight. Yay! looking forward to it now.

I liked the fact last night they showed only partialclips of all the bands I wasn't interested in, and 2 full Metallica ones at the end ;D Ah takesme back to last weekend... : ok:

if they do play 2 full songs i'd like them to be The Blues and Paradise City. They probalby will play Paradise City as it will be a good way the end the show. Knowing Ch4 they will choose SCOM  :-\

They will not play SCOM because there were technical difficulties, and the song fucked up. And they won't choose any song from the first half the concert with all the audience booing. I think it will either be November Rain or most likely Paradise City, but maybe I'll be wrong.

On kerrang radio a recap of download no live music but interviews if anything about gnr is on it will be in the last 3rd of the show so around the 840 900 mark i have already heard axls voice briefly.

I could be wrong but that sounded like Mary Anne Hobbs. She's a big Guns fan actually, check out her interview with Slash on radio1's website. She also presented the Appeite For Destruction dvd, which is the best of all those rip off dvds imo.

Just in work watching tele when GNR came on C4, so recorded it, but its only mono 32k. Didnt get the chance to set it up to 44.1 stereo cause I would have missed the start. So i have left it in .wav format so as not to lose any further quality. Anyway its fucking cool. I really hope someone videoed this and uploads it in quality. Its a shame C4 didnt show one of their newer songs.

well it was nearly a disaster 12.30 i decided to start setting up got the DVD recorder ready put in the disc and fuck it not compatible non of my discs were so i had to drag out the video recorder and get that set up instead

He does sound better  on Paradise City  but i wish he would sing the song with the rasp  all the way through.   He should rasp the hell out of that song , it would give it more of an edge.   Nonetheless  amazing performance  by everyone.   Axl voice was vintage   on My Michelle.

That footage made it look like the best thing ever, although I'm sure some Channel 4 viewers must have watched Paradise City wondering what that 'session musician in the casual shirt' was doing on stage with GNR :hihi:

I am downloading my michelle at the moment to my computer, no problem. If i attempt to download paradise city, opposed to saving to computer, it brings up the quick time image in a new browser window (in other words, it will not save to computer  :rant:).

Who ultimately cares if Axl does use effects for his voice? It sounds good and that's all that should matter. That performance of It's So Easy at Rock In Rio we heard through the live stream certainly didn't have any effects on it... but I wish it had.

Some people will jump on your ass for anythink if they think your "dissing" Axl, and they are so quick to jump up and defend him it's annoying, even when your just bringing up a simple point.

Love how, in the interview with Baz, the caption read:

"Guns N' Roses // Sebastian Bach"

I am not really sure but I think in 2002 he used less effects. So that would be an explanation for his better perfomances.

I really cannot think of another reason why his voice should have changed so dramatically

the effects will probably be bog standard Reverb. practically all bands use it in some way. no big deal, it dont make him fake.... atleaste he isnt miming.  :smoking:

I don't think it was just fx but rather the compression used to record the video (if you downloaded anythinggoes version VHS sourced). Also, no effects would make him sound better in that way.

I saw the advert too, used the GH symbol and only showed footage of Axl from the old days. Did it advertise all the shows in the UK or just some because I didn't think I saw all the shows listed at the bottom of the screen?

BUT WE NEED PARADICE

If you compare Paradise City to the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert performance the rasp is practically the same.......... there were no effects used during this performance, although it was touched up but this is standard for any repbroadcast! If you are looking for effects listen to one of the 2002 soundboard rips, maybe someone can help me out as i cant quite remember which show it is, but the sound tech forgets to turn off one of the effects used to enhance Axls scream at the begining on Jungle and it carries on into the verse and sounds shit!

Overall, despite being out of Key in a few places and fucking up the end it was still an amazing performance!

...but anyway...i love how everyone said the crowd hated gn'r during this show..."everyone left during there performance"..."nothing but booing"...just cause the one boot that came out first had some drunk guy yelling...

...cause when you see the actual video...the performance is awesome and the crowd is goin nuts!!!

i was actually 4 feet away from that drunk guy in the first bootleg (im the cunt in the stupid white hat in the left of the screen  :hihi: ) ,the one who was shoutin "HECKLE,HECKLE" like a prick and let me tell you,when things got goin,he was dancing and singin along like everyone else around me.there were boos but they were during the beginning of the show when things kept stoppin and startin  : ok:

Why, oh why can't the bloody cameramen point their lenses lens at the guitarists during their solo spots? In Paradise City, we get half a dozen cutaways to dim slappers in the crowd sitting on their boyfriends' shoulders, and bloody shots of Axl running off the stage (and why does he do this during PC? It can't be to go and huff oxygen, so it can only be in order to direct peoples' attention towards the other musicians...). We didn't get hardly any footage of Ron or Robin during their PC solos...  :rant: :rant: :rant:

Was cool during the Paradise City solo when Axl sprints right off one way, then hurls back past Fortus + Izzy and they just look at each other and laugh, like 'hey, that dudes still crazy'

I have many gnr boots (ritz,rio 1991,argentina 1992 & 1993,paris 1992,tokyo 1992,chicago and oklahoma 1992,australia 1988) but for me donington is one of the best gnr boots which i saw

This doesn't mean that all you gnr first-timers can start moaning the fuck about how amazing they are when in fact there is still loads of room for improvement.


Take these shows as warm ups for a world tour & nothing else.
