I agree with Izzy, it's just talentless noise from where I sit!
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Jim on October 08, 2004, 07:26:11 PM What a fucking shit way to start a thread, and an awful way to continue it.
Anyway. I thought that the self titled fucking ruled. It had such great songs on it, and at the time I really enjoyed it. However when Toxicity I couldn't really get into it so much, and as much as I enjoyed it, it didn't convince me enough to buy the third (the B-sides etc). I heard it, and liked it, but I just didn't really want to buy it. But on the whole, I think that they are a great band, have some kick ass songs, and would still fucking love to see them live. Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Gunner80 on October 08, 2004, 09:43:41 PM They're okay. Nothing that stays in my cd changer longer than a couple of weeks.

I downloaded song Zelda song a while ago but it said it was Mike Patton...it better not be System of a Down...I feel dirty. Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Hammy on October 10, 2004, 11:14:13 AM I enjoy them their studio albums can get a bit boring and repetative after a bit but i can still find enjoyment in them if i give them a break. I believe they are one of those bands who are much better live, they create so much energy and are one of the best live bands i have seen. They aren't just noise either.....that would be Slipknot
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Slashly on October 10, 2004, 02:18:42 PM SOAD is one of the few Nu-Metal bands I like. They rock!Plus, I think Daron Malakian (SOAD guitarrsit) is very talented is one of the most talented Nu-Metal guitar players.
Baby Slash// Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Metallifuck on October 10, 2004, 04:44:00 PM I personally wouldn't call them 'nu-metal' myselfl they're more original and have lots more talent than most of the metal bands over the recent years.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Dave_Rose on October 10, 2004, 06:30:36 PM I dont really dig SOAD its just jumbled noise to me although I do like the intro to Chop Suey that song isn't bad at all but other than that I cant get my head around it
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: GNR_Green on October 11, 2004, 01:18:47 PM one of the most talented Nu-Metal guitar players I didn't realise there were any! Malakian's not bad though. Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Mysteron on October 13, 2004, 03:33:37 PM Peeps, what are your opinions on System of a Down? Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Mama Kin on October 19, 2004, 02:01:14 AM Even though I can't stand his band or even listening to to him speak, Liam Gallagher said it best about SOAD when he said, "Everyday I thank God I was alive to hear the shittest band of all time"......
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: MCT on October 20, 2004, 11:01:43 AM There's worse on the go than SOAD................... :-\
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Rhythm-n-Booze on October 20, 2004, 12:04:09 PM I truly think they are one of the worst bands I have ever heard. My roommate freaking loves them and plays their stuff all the time, and the songs are absolute shit. In my opinion, of course ;D
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: R4tfink on May 05, 2005, 02:28:51 PM Anyone heard any material of this album, just caught BYOB(what does that stand for?) and fucking love it!
Opinions. Edited to add: Dammit, who removed the "Move" button from my options! Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Timothy on May 05, 2005, 04:08:01 PM B.Y.O.B. stand for Bring Your Own Bomb I think .
I'm really looking forward to getting the new album B.Y.O.B. is a really good track and the other track I heard called Cigarois really good to .So it should be a really good album. SUCKS  Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Judge Dredd on May 06, 2005, 12:20:09 PM They are about to become one of the biggest bands on the planet. : ok:
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Dot on May 16, 2005, 09:42:54 PM I must say I?m "mezmerized".....so far I can say it is their best album so far, got it yesterday. As you can expect, all the usual suspects are involved: fast riffs and beats, dark and "clownish" songs/moments, political content etc.... however there?s some new/different stuff that are new I guess, on track 10 "Old School Hollywood" there?s a synthetizer(however you spell that) that reminds me of the intro to Limp Bizkit?s Chocolate Starfish, and Daron Malakian(guitar) sings more on this record that on their previous efforts. Great album overall.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: psycotron on May 17, 2005, 03:17:58 AM cool i cant wait to get that album. toxicity is my favourite so far followed by the self titled. it would be hard to top those albums.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Judge Dredd on May 17, 2005, 12:18:25 PM It is a brilliant album. :peace:
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: gilld1 on May 17, 2005, 02:30:31 PM Just picked it up at a lunch break and I would rate it very highly. I think that it continues the natural evolution of the band. I have heard that Axl is fan, I wonder how much of their sound influence will be on the album?
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Timothy on May 18, 2005, 01:01:10 AM the album is pretty good ,
But I the first album is better. Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: R4tfink on May 18, 2005, 07:27:15 AM Brilliant album!
Get it. But dont steal it! Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: DOASHK on December 04, 2005, 01:13:13 AM frickin awesome
#1 on billboard right now, and for good reason so creative and energetic, just p00ping awesome Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: mrlee on December 04, 2005, 08:15:48 AM ....there number 1, humph way better bands than them out there. Hypnotize is such a silly album, sounds commercialised, i was very dissapointed in it.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: ClintroN on December 04, 2005, 12:10:52 PM Been a fan since they came about in 98'!!
Mesmerize is bloody good man, my fav is always ST : ok: : ok: just heard the new song from Hyp, i dunno man......i liked it but i think its a little silly, dont get me wrong, i listen to Mr. Bungle..but i think there tryin' to be silly just silly.. if ya know what im talkin' about..well, i dont know either...fuck it!! : ok: Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: DOASHK on December 04, 2005, 01:20:49 PM yeah they try to be weird/funny on some songs, but its still brilliant
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: John Daniels on December 04, 2005, 01:42:44 PM great band indeed. got really into them with the albums Mezmerize and Hypnotize. particularly mezmerize is an fantastic album!
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Clouser on December 05, 2005, 05:57:17 AM It's kinda sad to see these guys putting out the music that their record company is telling them to do instead of doing their own thing. It is evident that Hypnotize/Mesmerize are different and more commercialised than their first 3 CDs. Don't get me wrong, Hypnotize/Mesmerize are still great albums and much better than most of the Top 40 stuff nowadays. I just wish they wouldn't have sold out and were still producing the same old stuff. But then again, I guess they wouldn't be as successful as they are nowadays.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Neemo on December 05, 2005, 09:10:57 AM I don't understand the fascination with these guys, The singer is terrible and never sings on key, at least not on any of the tracks I've heard.
"La-la-la-lalala-la la" WTF?! "Wake-up! WHy do't you go put on some make-up!" WTF?! Just awful Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Rhythm-n-Booze on December 05, 2005, 06:06:05 PM I don't understand why everyone thinks they are "selling out" and whatnot, in my opinion they are just evolving. If anyone has listened to all their older albums, there are still plenty of songs with mass appeal. What was so WILD and CRAZY about songs liek Aerials, or Toxicity...they were just good rock songs.
The new albums are much more about the music than about funny vocals and whatnot. There are still some songs like that, however. (that My Sweet Revenge song on the Mezmerize album for instance) The only complaint I have is that it seems like Serj doesn't get to sing enough on it. I love Daron's voice too but I do miss Serj on lots of tracks. He is better than just singing backup. However, Lost in Hollywood is a great song and Daron does a great job, and Serj's backup vocals compliment the song perfectly. However it is absolutely stupid to say they are just putting out music that the record company wants them to put out because they have never been like that, and there is just no real evidence of it being like that right now either. Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Sparksry on December 09, 2005, 03:28:07 PM Feel Free to express your opinions about System Of A Down
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: gilld1 on December 09, 2005, 04:03:24 PM SOAD Rule! No other band in metal today comes close to them. They have gotten better each album.
Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: Sparksry on December 09, 2005, 04:09:30 PM I agree all my friends hate the new album but i luv it its like more mainstream but thats soo cool

Quote System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjia has hinted that the rockers may be reuniting this year, reports Nme.com. The band have not been active since 2006 ? but Odadjia posted a message on his Twitter page suggesting that a comeback may be on the cards. "Are u guys ready for System???" he wrote. Rumours of a System Of A Down reunion have abound at various points since they went on hiatus. Frontman Serj Tankian embarked on a solo career. He released his first solo album, "Elect The Dead", in 2007 while Odadjian recorded with members of the Wu-Tang Clan and launched a new online music initiative. Meanwhile, guitarist Daron Malakian started a new band called Scars On Broadway, also featuring System drummer John Dolmayan. Last November three of the band members joined Deftones on stage together in Hollywood for a benefit gig for Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who is currently hospitalised. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/system_of_a_down_may_reunite_this_year.html I agree all my friends hate the new album but i luv it its like more mainstream but thats soo cool didn't this guy get the memo? mainstream suckssssss ::);) never was a big fan, casual fan though i guess, saw serj on his solo tour and would be interrested to see SOAD live :smoking: Title: Re: System Of A Down Thread- Feel Free to Express Your Opinions Post by: gunner22 on January 13, 2010, 04:40:56 PM It's always funny when an old thread is revived and we see that many of the posters have been banned.

I cannot stand this dude's voice! When i listen to most of their music i actually have to stop myself from laughing -- to me it's almost like the music is a joke. A bad joke. Musically, i think it's ok, but i just cannot take Serj's voice seriously. :hihi:
