, Metallica were unstoppable on Saturday night, but they didn?t face the pressure of a world waiting to see them put a foot wrong. What Axl delivered in the face of that expectation was a two-and-a-half-hour masterclass in the light and shade of rock'n'roll.

The new album, Chinese Democracy, is reportedly ready for release. If it lives up to tonight, then Guns n' Roses will once again be the biggest band in the world.

good point

Awesome and encouraging review.  They really withstood and passed a test with this concert.  Axl sounded great from the clips I've seen and heard from this show.  I'm anxious for GnR to return stateside, can't wait to see them again

Sums it up perfectly. The shift in the mood started by Out Ta Get Me was incredible!

Guys,

Thanks for the kind words about the review. It would be great if any of you felt able to leave comments on the bottom of the page too - helps me justify to the boss what I spent Sunday night doing.  ;D

John,
BBC Derby.

Thought the review was very good...quite well written...and gave some very good insight into the show.

That was a pretty good review. ?Its so amazing how the show was getting out of hand with tech problems and throwing beer bottles but GNR met the challenge and knocked it out of the park. ?I think that on this latest tour GNR are showing something they might never have had, Im talking about the new and old band, but this GNR is showing that they have some character. ?It would have been very easy for them to just walk off the stage, because both new and old have pulled that before, but they were put to the test this time again and passed.

The band really impressed me with how much they helped to get one another through the difficult moments of that gig and Ron was great throughout.

Great review, and it seems Axl's mind is finally in good shape this time around, as he could have esily got up and left when the bottles started flying.

finally, a review appropriate for a rock concert from the press.
Channel 4 one on Rock Am, I think, was not bad either.
Unlike sloppy ones, this review covers a move of each band member (except?Chris. But hey it's rather impossible) and the mode swing of the crowd and corresponds with what fair board mates in here have reported.

Thank you so much for a good review, John.

That new song just before Tommy's speech was 'Better' BTW. ;D

Yeah, cheers for that...think I got Blues/Better mixed up, but not a bad effort for saying they were 100 per cent guesswork! If only someone could persuade Axl to introduce the unreleased numbers for the benefit of those of us who haven't tracked down the downloads/bootlegs!

I just left this comment, but I doubt they'll print it:

I love how some fans think it's their right to throw bottles at entertainers...One other rag said that Tommy Stinson "whined" about the treatment. Why don't we do this...whoever thinks its whining, we'll soak you in urine while you bust your ass trying to entertain us, and see how you like it...most of these losers should go back to their mum's basement, where they can download porn, listen to their Cannibal Corpse albums while playing World of Warcraft, and dream of one day meeting a female.

I like that comment except I doubt they have the balls to listen to Canibal Corpse.

Most of the kids were probably emo.
