OH MY GOD!  Velvet Revolver have just appeared as surprise guests at the Download Festival!.  Duff is here with Alice in Chains.  Bearing in mind the earlier rumours that Axl was trying to get these guys together for this event (apparently talks stalled over contact differences), could it be happening people!!! I'm so excited I'm jumpin!!!!!  Got to get some sleep for another busy day tommorrow.

It'd be a disaster for Axl to trot the old band out at Download - then fans will NEVER accept the new band - EVER. I love the new band, I love the old band - but let the new band have their moment!

i already got teary when it happened with izzy and axl, it was unreal. if this has any truth to it i would love for them to make up on stage but if it is not what axl wants then he shouldn't, besides any reunion would not be fair to the new band, who deserve respect in their own right.

Actually, I'd like to see Axl and Scott kiss and make up as well. Maybe if VR and GN'R hung out and got along, maybe the divided fan camps could do the same and put that moronic "GN'R vs. VR" shit to bed.

Also, if the old members ever get together, you'll know it well in advance. ?It won't be a suprise gig. ?There's just too much money to make off a a reunion to just blow it on a small scale. ?It would be a major deal that would be well promoted.

 About a month ago, I predicted a one show reunion at either Rio or Download. But I thought Gilby would be involved since he was in Europe in May. But since Izzy played with GNR in Ny, that pretty much rules out Gilby. You have Axl and Dizzy in GNR. Izzy could easily come and do one show. Duff is already in Europe. The only missing piece of the puzzle was Slash and Sorum. If VR is really there, then all the pieces are in place. Also, those Stones shows were the perfect opportunity for a reunion, but those have been cancelled.

I don't think a short reunion would hurt new GNR. They can just resume where they left off after the reunion is over.

Anyway.. If this is true, IF, then that's pretty cool. A reunion probably isn't going to happen, but it would be nice to see these guys play together again, and I don't think it would wreck the new GNR as fans would still be into them regardless.

And what do you mean "have we forgot about the new guys" well duh if Duff, Matt and Slash play on stage with Axl it would only be a few songs. Both Axl and Duff,Matt and Slash arn't going to ditch both there own bands, they would simply play a few songs together.

They'd become irrelevent and everyone would want more of the old.

It wouldn't be "shitting on the current guys" in the band, it's not like they would be back together it would be a one night thing and I see no harm in doing it. I would absolutly LOVE to see them play together again, even for just a few songs, but I wouldn't stop likeing this new GNR that we have.. Chinese Democracy is shaping up to be a damn good album and a quick reunion of sorts would do nothing but help and give us GNR fans a day to remember :peace:

Totally agree with you. I just hope Axl and his guys throw a hell of a performance. I keep my fingers crossed and i wish them the loudest crowd alive (For the sake of old Donnington times, at least  8) ) I wonder how Weiland would feel ;D Slash will get emotional and he'll want to join Axl on stage. Hi again. ?Had 2 hours kip, getting ready to get back out there. ?I SAW (along with several thousand fans) VR on stage last night. ?SAW them. ?I'd had a few I admit but fuck it, I know VR when I see them. ?I dont know if there will be a reunion on stage just for tonight but I hope so. ?I dont think it would kill the new band at all. ?Saw them at Hammersmith and they rocked.

Imagine Axl doing with a reunion with the old band and then coming to do a show with the new. You think Axl would do that to the new line up after all this time and after these hugely successful shows?

well Download could just be a precursor to get the ball rolling - a feel period to test the waters?

Something that big wouldn't have a "test period".  They would rehearse in undisclosed locations where no one in the public could be near them.  If they did something at Download (they won't), it would make a reunion down the line a little less appealing.  There would be mp3's, maybe video clips that would spoil the suprise for some people, and take some of the shock value away.

A reunion would of course be amazing, but it would be awful for the new band. They're already known as "just a load of musicians" and aren't widely accepted as Guns n Roses. Would they ever be taken seriosuly if they were over shadowed by the original line up at Download?

Good point. If the buzz was really that huge, then Axl might consider having the reunion be permanent, and maybe releasing CD before a full blown reunion tour. But if it was decided beforehand that the reunion is just for one or a couple shows regardless of what happens, then I think new GNR could survive. But like Ive said before, if you're going to play AFD every night, you might as well get the people who were involved in it.

Well the show at Hammerstein was just Guns N Roses fans. Where I'm from, no-one really likes guns n' roses. I'm not sure what its like up north in Derbyshire but if the old GN'R were there, they would get a good reception but not an immense one, simply because everyone hates Axl.

Izzy is much more integral to GNR than Duff is, as far as I'm concerned.

As much as I'd love to see a reunion I don't really think now is the right time. I couldn't see the new band recovering if there was a reunion on this tour, the media would be all over a reunion, it would be one of the biggest music stories of this century. Not only would it be a bit unfair on the new guys if there was a reunion now, the dissappointment aired in the media if the new band then continued the tour without Slash and Duff would do the tour no good at all imo. I want to see CD before we see a reunion.
