Title: Motley Crue/Aerosmith 2006 Tour Thread
Post by: Malcolm on June 08, 2006, 09:39:51 PM
K I couldnt decide which of the bands thread to post this in so intead of posting it twice I started a new thread...Somneone can change it if they want but this is it

I really hope they come to Toronto but I dought they will cvause Aerosmith was recently here

Live Nation, the concert promotion company recently spun-off by radio giant Clear Channel, has confirmed via its web site that AEROSMITH and M?TLEY CR?E will be teaming up for a U.S. tour this fall. So far, only one date has been released: Saturday, September 23 at the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, New Jersey. Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. More dates will be announced soon.

The first rumblings of a possible AEROSMITH / M?TLEY CR?E pairing were heard in early January when CR?E frontman Vince Neil revealed during an appearance on the "Opie and Anthony" show on XM Satellite Radio that the two bands would be hooking for a trek later in the year.

AEROSMITH are currently recording their new album with producer Steve Lillywhite, who has previously worked with U2 and MORRISSEY. The band were forced to cancel a bunch of shows on their spring tour after singer Steven Tyler suffered a broken blood vessel in his voice box.

M?TLEY CR?E are believed to have commenced the songwriting/demoing process for their new studio album with producer Bob Rock, who previously worked with CR?E on their "Dr. Feelgood" and self-titled albums, as well as the three new tracks that appeared on CR?E's two-CD "greatest hits" collection, "Red, White & Cr?e" (which came out in February 2005). An early 2007 release is expected.

I paied $108 for an Aerosmith/Cult lineup. That's with the Cult just opening. A two headliner concert with the Crue and Aerosmith for $125? Fuck yes, where do I sign up? That's two for one. You'd pay at least $100 for tickets to see each.

AEROSMITH
RETURN TO ROAD:
?ROUTE OF ALL EVIL TOUR?
WITH M?TLEY CR?E
THE ULTIMATE MUST-SEE ROCK EVENT OF 2006:
MASSIVE NATIONAL TOUR GETS UNDERWAY SEPTEMBER 14

This is the BIG ONE??ROUTE OF ALL EVIL TOUR.?

AEROSMITH--America?s Greatest Rock? N? Roll Band--will return to the road September 14 with M?TLEY CR?E--America?s Most Notorious Rock Band--to spawn what is the ultimate must-see rock event of 2006: a massive North American tour of predominantly outdoor amphitheatres. Bigger, louder, faster, and harder than what rock fans have experienced before, the tour gets underway in Holmdel, NJ and lasts through November 24 in West Palm Beach, FL. With each band featuring all their original members, this marks the first time that rock?s bad boys have embarked on a tour together.

The first few dates of the Live Nation-produced tour--Camden, NJ, Boston, Washington, Tinley Park, IL, East Troy, WI and Detroit--go on sale June 24. Two more shows (Holmdel, NJ and Jones Beach, NY) go up June 26. Other on-sale information is TBA.

For the tour, AEROSMITH--STEVEN TYLER, JOE PERRY, BRAD WHITFORD, TOM HAMILTON and JOEY KRAMER--will thrust themselves into the middle of the audience, turning the seats along the 70-foot-long ramp into one big front row experience that will enable fans to get up close and personal with rock?s quintessential live act. AEROSMITH were most recently on the road with their hugely successful and wildly acclaimed ?Rockin? The Joint? tour, which packed arenas from October ?05 through February ?06 in what critics called ?an exultant return,? ?a wet, wild and totally sweat-filled night? and ?a testosterone-charged set of their patented blues-soaked rock.?

Coming off one of the most successful tours of 2005, M?TLEY CR?E is bringing a whole new bag of tricks out this year, with massive production and pyro, determined to out-do themselves in the decadent M?tley fashion. Major surprises are in store from the world?s most infamous rock band. ?As comebacks go, this one is monstrous,? Rolling Stone said of their wildly successful Red, White & Crue tour, and this year proves to be even bigger.

About Aerosmith:
For more than 30 years, AEROSMITH has defined American Rock 'n' Roll. Just a brief overview of their remarkable career is truly mind-boggling: over 100 million albums sold, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, countless awards (4 Grammy Awards, 8 American Music Awards, 6 Billboard Awards, and 12 MTV Awards), and a diehard ?Blue Army? fan-base numbering in the millions worldwide. The members of Aerosmith remain creatively vital, and are the platinum standard for artistic and commercial success in the music business. Through it all they have defeated the odds, silenced their critics and have undeniably withstood the test of time. The most convenient way for fan club members to buy tickets and access tour information is through the AF1 web site, www.aeroforceone.com. AF1 members can purchase a variety of fan experience packages that include tickets, backstage tours, pre-concert parties with prizes, and exclusive AF1 memorabilia.

About M?tley Cr?e:
Rock's most notorious bad boys, M?TLEY CR?E, have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, documented their quintessentially decadent lifestyle in their best-selling 2001 autobiography and soon-to-be feature film, The Dirt, and had one of the top-grossing tours of 2005, with all four original members reuniting to play before an estimated one million people in the U.S. Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx first joined forces in 1981, their albums generating such iconic singles as "Smokin' in the Boys Room," "Girls Girls Girls," "Dr. Feelgood" and "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)." As one of the most indulgent bands in history, their reckless lifestyle eventually took its toll, and they disbanded in 1999. With their reunion six years later, M?tley Cr?e released the double-platinum Red, White & Cr?e and spent most of 2005 on the road for their "Carnival of Sins" tour. AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry has commented on the band's upcoming "The Route of All Evil" tour with M?TLEY CR?E. The fall trek, which will begin Sept. 14 in Holmdel, N.J., will run for more than two months before wrapping Nov. 24 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

"It's going to be quite a trip," Perry told Billboard.com of the pairing. "I still remember when M?TLEY CR?E's first record came out. It was exciting to see them blossom. I saw them play a couple small places in L.A. and then at the Santa Monica Civic Center headlining. It was that incredible rush of when you first break. They really put on a rock show in capital letters. It is always inspiring to play with a band like that."

Since first announcing plans last month for a fall co-headlining run dubbed the "Route of All Evil Tour," Aerosmith and Motley Crue have added a half-dozen new shows to their itinerary.

In a recent posting on his web site, M?TLEY CR?E bassist Nikki Sixx had the following to say regarding the group's new stage set-up: "It's hard to design a show as a co-headliner. There's different rules, concerns and limitations that apply for both bands, and you have to have your show mobile and fast to take down ? it's a lot of work. With that being said, I hope I'm not building anybody's hopes up to high (mine too), but I think this show (visually) is even better than the 'Carnival of Sins' tour. I don't wanna give it away; the Internet sorta kills the element of surprise after the first show anyway."

AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton will be sitting out a few gigs at the beginning of the band's upcoming "The Route of All Evil" tour. Hamilton has just completed a seven-week course of radiation treatment for throat cancer. He will be with his family recovering and will join the tour in mid-October. He and his band mates look forward to his return. Filling in for Hamilton will be David Hull, a longtime friend of the band who played in the JOE PERRY PROJECT.

Aerosmith's Joe Perry is one of the few classic rock axemen still around to tell his tales, though he endured years of hard living to get here.

On the eve of the band's tour kickoff in Columbus with co-headliners M?tley Crue, I chatted long distance with the now long-sober family man about the changing face of the music business, and how Aerosmith always seems to escape the industry's fickle, throat-cutting jaws in one piece.

Can we expect anything new from Aerosmith on this tour?
At this point, every tour is like a challenge for us, to mount it up. I never know what to expect, with the way the music business has changed. Each has its own set of problems.

We're playing with a band [M?tley Crue] that I still think of as a baby band, but they got a generation of fans turned onto rock 'n' roll through their music, they're a formidable show.

You know, we're going in with all the guns loaded. The friendly competition between the two bands means the audience gets a better show. That's why we like to do these packages with other headliners, like we did with Lenny [Kravitz] or Kiss. It gives the audience a really good night.

It costs a lot of money to put up a show like this. Tickets are expensive! We want to give fans as much value for the dollar as we can.

This tour, we're going to go out there and top what we did last time. We'll change the set around. We'll go out there and give the fans the skeleton set of the songs we know they'd be disappointed if we didn't play, but we'll also going to bring in some of the old songs.

What: Aerosmith with M?tley Crue

When: Tuesday, September 5

Where: Germain Amphitheater, Polaris

Web: aerosmith.com

How do you keep your finger on the pulse of what fans want?
We just listen to what everybody has to say. We're fans first. We know what we like, but we're entertainers. We've seen so many bands that will go out there and go, "We're not going to play that because it's really not our sound." And I say, "Yeah, but it was your biggest hit. Your fans want to hear it."

We come from a totally different school. We're out there because fans want to see us, and for no other reason. We listen to feedback from every resource we can. Now with the Internet, there's a pretty good cross-section of fans out there.

We did a poll last year of most requested songs. We were a little surprised by where some of the songs ended up on the most-wanted list.

Which ones surprised you?
Like, say, "Angel." It ended up not even being in the Top 30, and that really surprised us. That was a really big, big single for us. It kind of steers you in that direction again, to go back and maybe play a few songs that people want to hear from the early, early days which we just have never played live, or at least haven't in recent memory.

Columbus is your first stop on this tour, right?
Yes. We're really looking forward to coming out there. I don't know if people know it or not, but we're setting up the tour there and we'll be in town for awhile. So you may see us at the movies, you may see us out on the town!

Launch Radio Networks reports: AEROSMITH and M?TLEY CR?E are in Columbus, Ohio, for the start of their Route Of All Evil tour at the Germain Amphitheatre tonight (Tuesday, September 5). AEROSMITH spent time earlier this year working on a new studio album, and the plan was to have it ready by now, but it probably won't be out until the middle of next year. Lead guitarist Joe Perry told Launch they decided to push things back to make sure the band was ready for opening night. "I just know from experience, the last tour we mounted (while making a new album), we just didn't give ourselves enough time in front to give the show what it needed," he said. "When you start off with a new (tour) like that, after about two or three weeks, you feel like you're hitting your stride, and this time, we want to be hitting our stride at the first gig, instead of the 14th gig, or the 13th gig."

Perry was talking about 2003, when he thought AEROSMITH didn't spend enough time getting ready for their tour with KISS while also working on the album "Honkin' On Bobo".

The CR?E are also in the midst of making a new album.

AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton is sitting out the first part of the band's "The Route of All Evil" tour after completing a seven-week course of radiation treatment for throat cancer. Filling in for Hamilton is David Hull, a longtime friend of the band who played in the JOE PERRY PROJECT.

Hamilton has issued the following statement regarding the matter:

"Last spring I was diagnosed with throat cancer and told I would have to go through seven weeks of radiation and chemo. The doctors asked me what my schedule would be and when I told them I was going out on tour in September they all looked at each other with their eyebrows down. They told me I wouldn't be ready by that time. The tour had been in the planning stages for far too long to postpone so I realized I would miss at least the beginning of it. They explained my treatment and what I had to deal with and I realized that there would be no decisions to agonize about. At least that was easy. The only things I agonize about in life are decisions. In this case there were none to make.

"So that became my summer project. I had radiation five days a week and chemo one day a week. The first two weeks were a piece of cake but the rest has been a piece of something else. I'll tell you about it someday.

"I'm just getting to the point where the side effects of the treatment are getting better but I still have a way to go just like the doctors predicted in the beginning.

"I'll be getting out there as soon as possible, believe me. [Tueday night, September 5] is the first gig and it feels really weird not being there. As a matter of fact, this is going to ruin my perfect attendance record. A good friend of ours, David Hull, is going to fill in for me 'til i get back. He's a killer musician and a guy we've known since the 1325 days. He played with Joe during some of the JOE PERRY PROJECT days and I've had the pleasure of hangin' and jammin' with him at some charity gigs over the last few months. So treat him right!

"I'll see you out there in a few weeks."

United Press International reports that Boston rockers AEROSMITH find inspiration these days by touring with other big names.

The group has shared bills in recent years with KID ROCK, KISS and LENNY KRAVITZ and began a 33-show run with M?TLEY CR?E Tuesday (Sept. 5) in Columbus, Ohio.

"It keeps your edge," guitarist Joe Perry says of having another multi-platinum act on the shows. "It doesn't mean you go out and try to blow the other guys off the stage, but I think there's a friendly competition to go out there and make yourself remembered with the audience.

"So that's definitely an added attraction for everybody."

When this was announced, I was very excited. Right up until the ticket prices were announced. First off, I'm only really intrested in Motley. I have nothing against Aerosmith, but just not the big of a fan. Second, each band only played for 75 minutes. Also, $200 for an arena show is too much for me if it's not Gn'R. The last time I saw Motley, I paid right around $200, but, they gave a 2 hour setlist, and it was at The Joint in the Hard Rock, so I think I will just wait until Motley comes again by themselves. I know BOTH bands would probably like to play longer, but they do have to keep in schedule with the venue. This is why I don't like Co-headling shows and festivals.

Aerosmith have fucked me over twice on concerts so I dont know if I trust them or not.
What happened?

First show was when Steven Blew his knee out when he hit it on a mic stand. I wasn't pissed real pissed off cause I hadn't bought tickets yet.

2nd time though:

I bought 10th row center seats from one of those bookin agencies. 300 dollars for 2 tix. Drove 2 and a half hours, paid for the hotel

we were goin to see Dwight Yoakam on Friday Night Aerosmith on Saturday Night.

Get to the Dwight concert and their are posters up sayin Aerosmith cancelled due to Tyler's throat.

Monday he is on TRL talkin fine about to play New York that night.

I was out 300 for the tickets as the agency didnt refund my cash.

I was looking forward to hearing Dream On also.? I was surprised that the setlist was so short!

Anyhow, it was great to see them live again.? I loved the cake that the girls brought out for Joe Perry's birthday.? When he took the mic after they brought the birthday cake out for him (singing Stop Messin' Around), he sounded great!? His voice is definitely cleaner-sounding then it was the last time I heard him sing.?

This was my 6th show (I think) to see Aerosmith - they put on a good show this time.? Steven sounded great, and Joe Perry was on fire.? I only wish I had better seats.? ?:(? (I can't complain though...I saw them up close twice in Hershey PA.? The Pittsburgh shows are always too big for my tastes - unless you pay a small fortune, you need binoculars to get a good view)

Motley Crue were okay - it was my first time seeing them live.?

I work at germain amphitheater so i got to see the show and some other cool stuff.

OK so i got to the venue around 5 to check in early. I walk into the venue and watch aerosmith finish there soundcheck. It was there first show of the tour so they had a lot to work on. They jammed on under pressure it was sweat. So they finished there soundcheck and i desided to go towards the back of the venue. I saw Nikki talking with somebody so i didnt bother him. Then Tommy walked aout of the tour bus. I talked to him for a little bit. Just told him ive been watchin supernova and i cant wait to see them at the Shot later on in the year. He said the band was great and i that the supernova cd was gonna be awesome. He started to talk about the pyrotecnics for the show(they were good  )but was called on to the mainstage for souncheck so he had to go. After that i saw Joe perry walkin his dog around but didnt say anything to him. Im really regreting not talking to him. The show started a little late like around 7:30 and Crue came out stroung. Wild Side,Shout at the Devil,Same old Situation,Home Sweat Home.(I really dont listen to them to often so i dont remember all they played. Aerosmith came on about 30 minutes after Crue came off. Any thoughts about Stephen Tylers voice being weak because of the surgery were immediely gone, when they started with Same Old Song and Dance. His voice was killer and he was hitting all the notes. Joe Perry was amazing. btw they were all wearing the same clothes they wore in the 70's.some ppl never change. I missed half of the set because i had to go to the vip club and clean up. I was able to catch four more songs though at the end. Best parts of their set were the begining of sweet emotions, and walk this way.
All together a great time.

Aerosmith and Motley Crue

Tuesday night at Six Flags Darien Lake Performing Arts Center.

DARIEN CENTER - It has been suggested that Aerosmith is America's Rolling Stones, that there is no finer rock 'n' roll band in this country. Tuesday at Darien Lake, the boys from Boston made it clear that this is no mere hyperbole, no fan-based inflation of the facts, no mere nonsense.

Aerosmith - even without original bassist Tom Hamilton, who took a break from the road recently following chemotherapy treatment for throat cancer - knows no peer in American hard rock. This band is indeed a living legend.

Emerging from Massachusetts in the early '70s as a ragamuffin blend of the Yardbirds, Beatles, Stones and the Jeff Beck group, Aerosmith wasted no time making a completely brilliant r&b/funk/rock record in the form of a self-titled debut. In fact, that record had "Dream On" on it, though that wouldn't become a hit for a few years following the first album's release.

Whatever. Aerosmith was not sitting around waiting, instead taking to the road with every band you can imagine - an early '70s show at Kleinhans with Mott the Hoople and the New York Dolls is the stuff of legend in our neck of the woods - and laying its claim to a sultry blend of Beatles, Beck and James Brown along the way.

Every time the band comes to town, it's a serious party, and Tuesday night - despite pouring rain and an insulting temperature - was far from an exception. Hamilton may be sitting it out for a while, and singer Steven Tyler may be fresh back from a throat operation, but you'd never know it from the way the band played.

Opening with a torrid "Toys in the Attic," and heading straight into a killer spread of tunes from the early days, including "Mama Kin" and "S.O.S. (Too Bad)," the band locked into a groove straight away, and new bassist David Hull can take some of the credit for that.

Tyler, Hull, Perry, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford tore through a set that was heavy on the hits, but held no shortage of surprises. "Cryin' " represented the late '80s rebirth of the band in their clean-and-sober guise, and found Tyler kicking it hard and old-school blues-style at the front of the ramp extending 70 feet or so from the front of the band's stage.

He sounded a bit hoarse, but no matter. From the beginning, Tyler has been one of the greats, a singer of supreme versatility, soulfulness and chops. Tuesday, he seemed a bit tired, but he gave it all up, making it quite apparent that few can touch him in the rock frontman front.

Perry was in incredible form throughout, busting out incredible solos on a gorgeous selection of guitars that would make any collector drool. Perry was on fire, looking incredibly fit and tearing up the stage, particularly during the extended slide solo that elevated "Draw the Line."

Whitford took fewer solos, but was his usual flawless self. And Kramer? If you've ever played in a band, you know how essential a rock-solid drummer is. Kramer is that, to the 10th power. And Aerosmith can add another nearly perfect show to its scrapbook.

Motley Crue opened the set - a bit of a mismatch. This band emerged from the Hollywood-based, Whiskey-A-Go-Go '80s hair-metal craze, when every band in that town was trying to be Van Halen. Motley Crue failed, though it did make two great albums, and a few good tunes thereafter. Despite a killer stage show, strong performances from drummer Tommy Lee, bassist/songwriter Nikki Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars, the band's set was derailed by the scattershot performance of vocalist Vince Neil. We heard the hits and we saw the thrilling show, but something was missing. Perhaps it was the heart and soul of a band that deserved to mark another decade together.

M?TLEY CR?E bassist Nikki Sixx has checked in from the band's "The Route of All Evil" tour with fellow music veterans AEROSMITH with the following update:

"We're in Darien Lake (where?) and leave after the show for [New York City]? my fave place as far as energy and people watching. Gonna be in the Apple for over a week, hubbing out to shows around and in the NY area? I guess you could say we're the worms in the Apple, but usually that title is held by my friend Dano's mom? I asked dano to get me hooked up to photograph 'the mole people' but it seems security is tight and on heightened alert since 9-11 when it comes to nooks and crannies? understood.

"AEROSMITH (love them) only wanna play every other day and its like watching paint dry in my hotel room? so I'll have to find some other dysfunction to photograph while the worm eats away at the Apple?

"I was just home with my wonderful kiddies?. needed a tune-up?.and a realignment with reality?.always a plus when you're on a rock tour?

"The spring season (season 2) for Royal Underground [Nikki's clothing line] is almost finished and our first season ships on October 30th. Kelly Gray [Nikki's partner in the clothing line] and I couldn't make any of the fashion week parties and events we were invited to, but next year is just around the corner?

"Fall is near? The cool is setting in and the leaves are attempting to turn all the shades of the coming football season and holiday spirits. God, I love this time of year?

"Black eyes and bloody noses seem to be the standard for the aural stimbulatation we're giving the crowds on this tour? There was this one yuppie in Dockers who walked out when I spit blood on his J. Crew shirt at the last gig? so, of course, I'm trying to get water cannons to shoot blood all over the crowd now?. I mean?look at it as a early Halloween?hahha

"Seems *no* is a word i don't like and sometimes just have to accept?maybe less days off would make me less mischievous??"

Right now it seems like time is allowing for plenty more, even with the bumps in the road that come with aging. The band has already committed to playing Europe next year and will hit a bunch of the major festivals. Perry said they?ll take some major young bands with them on a package tour but can?t say who until the deals are inked.

Well i chose to see Aero/Crue on Nov. 19 instead of the Who on the 18th. Not only is the 19th a Sunday, but i have school the next day (2 days of it Mon. & Tues., before Thanksgiving break (wends-sun) so its gonna be awesome walking into school after staying up past midnight.

My question: If the concert starts at 7:30 (venue's site: http://pavilion.woodlandscenter.org/events.asp  -- Aero is at the bottom) what time do you think it'll end. I'm in for a night to remember and hopefully a really late night.

Launch Radio Networks reports: Things must be going well on the AEROSMITH/M?TLEY CR?E Route Of All Evil tour, because the bands have extended their time together. The tour was supposed to end November 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, but three new shows have been added ? November 29 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut; December 1 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit; and December 15 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada. Considering the two weeks between Detroit and Reno, it's a good bet that there will be more dates added to the itinerary, which began September 5 in Columbus, Ohio.

AEROSMITH and the CR?E roll into Bonner Springs, Kansas, tomorrow (Tuesday, October 17).

But if they do extend the tour and they come near me again I might go. I saw motley last year in March... Vince can't sing that great anymore but the concert was incredible.

I think I'll be going to the Calgary date.? Hopefully the tickets won't cost an arm and a leg.

I saw Aerosmith in Edmonton on May 18,? 2004 and they totally rocked the house.? Cheap Trick opened.? And to this day, that concert still stands in my top 5 shows that i've seen.? Anyone know what's up with the shorter set lists?? Have they just allocated more time for the Crue or do they just not feel the need to play 20 songs like on the last tour?

I'm going to the Mountain View date.  I saw Vince by himself in my hometown, and it was a good show, so Motley Crue should be good, and I'm really looking forward to Aerosmith.
