Title: Shows that begin too late
Post by: The Prez on June 08, 2006, 01:06:00 PM
hello all!

been on the net since...'98 I think, and checked HTGTH site already since then! The message board however I only checked since the new tour...
Weird, but I only decided today to register and join the board, so this is my first message here!

Well, I am just wondering if I am the only Gunner that actually love the fact that Guns always show up (too) late....
Why the hell??? I hear you ask...
well I love the fact the audiance is getting nervous and they begin to sing/shout "GN'R" , or even become angry and shit.....and then that magic moment when they show up!!!! Just amazing, everybody gets fucking wild!! I just love that.

I was 16 back in '93 when I saw 'them' (yeah the old-guns  :P ) the first time (Belgium). And they were also too late for 1h30... and then the moment of my life: "...Let's get ready to rumbleeee motherfuckers...from hollywoood...." I went crazy like hell, and I still love that moment. It is one of the best memories of my life.

I understand of course that this can cause some practical issues in the week (people have to go to work and so on...) but what the fuck: it's a rock n' roll concert!! Not fucking britney spears!    :peace:  :peace:

See ya!

Yeah it certainly brings a rock n roll edge to things, although it does get quite annoying when a band is late like that, I won't mind if it's GnR

Just wonderig: why is this thread moved to the "dead horse" section?? ???

This is not a FAQ or other question from a "new" member... (very much an experienced 'reader' of this message board though)

Thanks for some feedback.

it's ok to be late to a show but not 2 hours. i could take 30-45 mins late but not more. it's really hard to ssit there through an opening band that maybe you don't like that sings for 1 hour plus the 1 hour waiting befor the opening band starts gets you to about 4+ hours of standing (i wouldn't be able to sit on a chair waiting for gnr). so you are really tired when they finally get on stage.
i agree that when they finally get there you forget for a while that you're tired but i would prefer to lose all my energy jumping and singing during the show and not waiting for them to get on stage. that way you have a great audience that's happy to cheer and sing along all the time.

hmmm...I saw the "old" Guns open for Aerosmith & it was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.I saw the start of the "3 ring circus "Guns on the Illusions tour, they were 3 or 4 hours late, couldn't hold a candle to the Appetite tour,Axl spent a HUGE amount of time complaining & changing his clothes,& all in all I lost all interest in going to see them again.
if a band can't create excitement with their music & have to rely on b.s stunts like making the crowd wait for hours on end,or the singer stomping off stage in a hissy fit, picking fights with members of the crowd or crew, blaming the sound guys for everything & anything & bitching like a baby about Warren Beatty calling his coke head slut ex girlfriend on the phone(or about magazines, newspapers, cab drivers,who-ever....)then maybe they should pack it up & go home.
it just drives me crazy that so many of the posts here are so one sided, some of the Axl fans around here sound like cult members.

I dont like it at all... I think it?s completely disrespectfull of fans and all people coming to see the show... and even more direspectfull today as the band is trying to make a name for themlselves (yeah, they have a very well-known name already lol but u know what I mean, this is a different band... bla bla..). And we all know that behind all this is Axl with is so known anti-professionalism and respect for ppl... he still does the same shit he did years ago, to keep the band waiting cos he?s in a party or he?s not ready yet etc etc... Can u imagine the frustration of the band that I am sure, at time don?t even know where he is? God! But yeah, at RiR I waited 30 min... and it was the longest wait of my life lol I was getting so nervous, I was with my brother who I wanted to show that this new band could be great too... and then yes, I can?t describe the feeling when we hear the first sounds... yeah, but yet as I said, I really don?t like them being late, and no, it?s not cool at all especially nowadays.
