Title: Thank you Richard Fortus-Re: Madagascar Solo
Post by: ibelieveinaxl on June 05, 2006, 09:12:08 PM
I was worried when Bucket left, especially for Madagascar. Have you guys heard the boots on this bad boy that used to be BH's solo? The one over the quotes? Richard rips it up and makes it his own and its fucking mindblowing. What do you think?

Richard, Ron and Pittman are really responsible for the new 'solo'. I still prefer Bucket's writing but it is a nice replacement.

Any one else notice the new vocal style for the last verse? Axl changes it up a bit and really re-invigorates the end of the song.

Which version are you talking about?

This is the Budapest version which I actually like alot. The last verse is really energized.

I guess they did the best they could, however Buckets solo was much more melodic than this which kinda sounds like (A good) improvisation. I'm glad Fortus did the replacement solo as aposed to Robin tho, it makes a change.

The versions in 02 of The Blues and Madagascar are a lot better. I hope that's what we hear on CD. Axl's voice sounds awful on this version of Madagascar.

The entire song seems to have a new flavor.  Axl seems to be controlling his voice really well in this version, and some of that "rasp" is back.  I also agree that the new ending is an improvement - it adds a nice, unexpected touch.   The old version was good, but this is definitely an added bonus.

How could anyone be worried when BH left? I was rather satisfied.
Anyway, I like the way Axl changed the vocal line at the end, it sounds great.

I like the new added guitar parts.

"That its never...too late" at that part there new parts sounds brilliant. And then more for the next few sentences.

I like fortus and all but buckethead's solo near the end of the quotes is the climax of the whole song, if they take that away on the album Ill be destined to hear madagascar live from rock in rio 3 for the rest of my life instead of the one on the album...but let us just hope the solo will stay...

Axl's new voice is a bit of a shame cos I can't do it too well.

I nailed his '02 voice perfectly.
