Title: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: mikepatton on June 04, 2006, 06:02:19 PM I undertstand MTV is now devoted to dating shows and horrid reality tv shows but still they must have some cool genes left......Where is the 1 hour sit down interview with Kurt Loder and Axl??....Where is the pro shot concert from Hammerstein?? I mean even VH1 or VH1Classic dint do anything to celebrate the return of Axl........VH1 is busy with Hulk Hogan and Surreal Life garbage...MtV is busy with dating shows although that girl Cheyenne is one hot piece.......Fuse did nothing...................I think AXL could use some TV exposure

Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: ashlar on June 04, 2006, 06:11:48 PM They're not officialy back until they release a fucking single or album? :-\ That's true but it did seem they got alot more press in 2002 but then again I have a feeling the press are dodging them a bit. Mainly due to the cancelled tour that was supposedly a "comeback", I doubt they want to call the bluff again. It sucks the press doesn't have the attitude we do about the whole thing as it seems so much better this time around. Things just seem to gel.Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: ZRO on June 04, 2006, 06:20:08 PM Because MTV was all over the 2002 "comeback" and pretty much got burned when it fizzled out and got canceled. At this point I don't think they really care.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on June 04, 2006, 06:20:15 PM VH1 classic mentioned it (the NY shows) but other than that, the only GN'R references on the telly have been on ET regarding the Tommy incident *sigh* ::)
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: ashlar on June 04, 2006, 06:21:46 PM Wasn't MTV pissed at Axl or something over the VMA performance? I can't exactly remember what the issue was though.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: GnR-NOW on June 04, 2006, 06:23:36 PM GNR will get some love from the media when they release the album. It would be cool if they released a killer, epic video that outdoes anything ever before, but music videos arent as big as they were anymore
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: EFISH on June 04, 2006, 06:23:52 PM the ommy incident was on vh1's best week ever and comedy central's davide spade show too..
but still..nothing about the comeback Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: RageNirvanaNIN on June 04, 2006, 06:33:06 PM media people want interesting stuff
80's you had the bad ass rocker's 02' you had the buckkket 06' iono.....the foot??? LOL Yea plus they got screwed in the 02 comeback so they probably could care less as of now. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: faldor on June 04, 2006, 06:49:59 PM I can't remember the last time MTV did something COOL. They're too busy appealing to the screaming 15 year olds listening to Ashlee Simpson and that crap.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: brownstonemr on June 04, 2006, 06:57:07 PM Well MTV2 has been showing live acts from recent festivals like RHCP, KORN, Metallica.
Then bands like TOOL and GNR choose not to i guess. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: mikepatton on June 04, 2006, 08:17:37 PM FUSE televised a 1 hour Chili Peppers concert from NYC's Irving Plaza which was great but I doubt Axl would allow them to show the new band......As for MTV, I am sure if they got Loder to call AXL and do an interview he would do it just like that great 1990 interview he did with Loder 'Famous Last Words'......That was classic.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: cybercurves on June 04, 2006, 08:24:48 PM I think once GNR comes back to American soil after the European tour and their new (hopefully) single gets released, I'm sure MTV will jump on the bandwagon, lol.

It's been like that for the last couple of years... Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: HoldenCaulfield on June 04, 2006, 08:39:33 PM I think once we get closer to the album, MTV and VH1 will definitely be on the heels of this band. I think they're really skiddish after the '02 situation, and they obviously don't want a repeat. Not to start rumors, I don't know anything, but with the tour/album, I'd definitely look for GNR at the VMA's this year...

Not to start rumors, I don't know anything, but with the tour/album, I'd definitely look for GNR at the VMA's this year... But arn't the VMA's happening sometime this week? I could be wrong as I don't really follow anything with MTV or VH1 cuz recently they have put on some pretty shitty programming .. but I think they are airing this week. And if thats so how could GNR be there? Arn't they currently touring over in Europe? Plus the fact that they already did the VMA's some years back makes me skeptical as to why they would agree to particpate in some capacity.. maybe they will show a live feed from a concert GNR are doing in Europe or something? : ok: that would be cool.. but I dunno, seems VERY unlikely Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on June 04, 2006, 08:57:56 PM The VMA's are August 28th in NYC, seems like a good time and location for GnR to perform :smoking:
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: JDA on June 04, 2006, 08:59:58 PM Gotta put out CD if you want to get full exposure from everyone. So, put it out.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: asstvp1009 on June 04, 2006, 09:32:16 PM obviously, like most other Americans...they don't care. Most outside of GNRs fan base, think this new incarnation of the band is a joke anyway. Sorry, I love Axl and will support, but he should just tour as a solo artist. Legally, Axl owns the name GNR, but he didn't own the magic of GNR and what they collectively brought to the table to create as a unit.
Axl agrees too...no album in 10 years speaks for itself. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: johnnythunders24 on June 04, 2006, 10:49:39 PM my favorite is mtv2 has "suckerfree sundays" all sunday long nothing but hip-hop...so who are the suckers? white people? its the most racist thing EVER!
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: GnR-NOW on June 04, 2006, 10:51:54 PM also on dig cable, they have mtv music channels, so maybe for the main mtv channel they want more bullshit shows idk
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: BLS-Pride on June 04, 2006, 11:07:12 PM Up 50's cents ass.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: littlewing on June 04, 2006, 11:53:25 PM Up 50's cents ass. But with good reason. 50 cent sells albums and draws viewers to their station. GNR doesn't - at least not the new band. All it takes to change that is a good single and the album coming out. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: Krispy Kreme on June 05, 2006, 12:04:23 AM Because MTV was all over the 2002 "comeback" and pretty much got burned when it fizzled out and got canceled. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: jazjme on June 05, 2006, 04:43:04 AM True that, in fact untill teh official release date is set in stone, and a full barage of concerts are gonna be happening in the states, thier is no reason for MTV, US to say much other than report here and there of things goin on. If Im not mistaken Rock in AM ir IN whatever it as that was sreamed, was in fact hosted by a division of MTV in GErmany. SO the US MTV may suck but at the same time MTV is global, we just get the crap and rap!

?___? Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: diablo280273 on June 05, 2006, 05:59:00 AM Well after his notorious lack of info (I mean they do not even have a homepage) and his constant media silence Axl pretty much created this bed himself and now he has to sleep in it.
He lost a lot of credibility in all of the media. I mean by never giving any GnR news of interviews to them you cannot suddenly expect that they are all over you when you need them. It?s a two way street you know. But I think the media are definitely want to jump on the GnR publicity-train again, they just need a reason to do so. So it will take a little time, and stuff like a new CD and an earth shattering hit single (from Paradise City and Sweet Child calibre) to shake things up again in the media. And it has to be something that we haven?t heard yet cause anybody who thinks one of the new songs that we?ve heard so far is gonna do the job?..dream on it just aint gonna happen. No bashing, I love the band and so do the most people on these forums, the problem is to reach the other 99,9% of the music fans out there. Just a realistic point of view. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: Brody on June 05, 2006, 06:11:26 AM there covering the all important rap game!
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: Gargh! on June 05, 2006, 07:07:36 AM diablo280273 sums it up well. Until Axl can convince the media that he still has something to offer they have no reason to care. Look at the lack of coverage for the current Stones tour, and thats with a lineup thats been unchanged for ages, plus they put an album out last year. The problem for the stones is that, as far as the media is concerned, they are yesterday's news. Until Chinese Democracy is released, so are Guns N' Roses.

REALLY noW?.lol thats why they sold out to have thier show shown in one of americas(sad But true) daytime spaop opears One live to live, and I dunno know about aotehr places but her in the US it was big news for a while when the the new stones albums were coming out. So I really dont get your point , GNR are touring now,so does that mean they should be put under a microscpoe?I think when the time is right(fall), and there is a true release date for CD, than things will blow up. There is no need today(this close to CD) to argue those questions. ADn I guarenfuckintee that once CD is announced for release and the wheels are set in motion, (btw I think they already are). THe only one in the game who's lost is you! Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: michaelvincent on June 05, 2006, 07:51:36 AM Quote GNR are touring now,so does that mean they should be put under a microscpoe? Uh, yeah. How much longer can this band tour with no new album and a setlist that is virtually no different than the one they were playing 4 years ago? Appetite is a great album but you can't milk it as your touring cash cow without looking like a bad nostalgia act. Yeah they added IRS and Better (and once in a blue moon TWAT) but they need to get an album out at some point. I'll be very skeptical of this group come years end if they are still doing the Appetite Nostalgia Revue Tour. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: WARose on June 05, 2006, 11:36:29 AM did someone mention allready that a mtv reporter and camera crew was on the stage right before gnr and filmed the fans chanting "guns n roses" and whatever?
i suppose they wanted to make a report about the concert or for the newsmag.... edit: at rock am ring by the way :hihi: Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: oldgunsfan on June 05, 2006, 03:53:58 PM who gives a fuck about MTV and their stupid ass TV shows

Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: PhillyRiot on June 05, 2006, 05:20:06 PM MTV is not going to cover GNR that much. We are not their target audience anymore, and haven't been for a long long time.
Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: busngabb on June 05, 2006, 05:28:55 PM Where's the fuc'ing video, single, DVD and album would be a more appropriate question.
The band DO NOT deserve to be publicisied or given good reviews. They are playing largely 20 year old material and have not released anything of any note in the last ten years. Title: Re: SO GNR'S BACK---WHERE'S MTV????? Post by: michaelvincent on June 05, 2006, 08:43:15 PM 1987 to 2006 is.....oh my god almost 20 years. Christ I feel old. :hihi:
