Post by: nyd on May 29, 2006, 05:41:10 AM
Hi guys,

First of all the Izzy site is now back online: www.juju.34sp.com/izzy/

As it is a stupid URL please add it to your favourites if you like Izzy :) I emailed him to ask whether he would be joining GNR at any point in Europe and he replied:

"i dont have any concrete plans at this moment to join them in europe but i will let u know if it changes.please let people know nothing is confirmed at this point for europe.ny was pretty cool.......so......talk later, izz"

Ive got tickets for Hammersmith Apollo so Izzy should get his ass over and play  :smoking: lol

Fuck man, im glad izzy was digging it, Hopefully it set something off in his head, Remember people, Izzy is the key if there is ever any possibility EVER of a reunion. He is on good terms with all old members

Sounds like he's up for it. Therefore it'd be rude not to, but if it happens again I'd like a bit of 14 Years, Double Talkin' Jive and - as it seems to be the most requested track - Don't Cry, instead of him performing on the same songs as he did in New York. If he does three or four shows with different songs, we might be able to edit a full set together  : ok:

Izzy Stradlin's official fansite has moved to this (http://www.juju.34sp.com/izzy/) address.
On the site, Izzy has issued an update regarding future involvement with Guns N' Roses' European tour. He says;
"I don't have any concrete plans at this moment to join them in Europe but I will let you know if it changes. Please let people know nothing is confirmed at this point for Europe. NY was pretty cool."

Awesome! Thanks for this, Brownstone!

Very nice. I was wondering what Izzy thought about the NY gig...

Wow.  Instinct would have told me that the NY show was essentially a one-time deal.  It's great to hear the door is remaining open for more guest appearances...

'No concrete plans'.

Some are there though perhaps? Its an instant winner for Axl really. Showing that Izzy wants him to succeed and accepts the rest of the band should work wonders in getting a lot of the 'living in 1988' motherfuckers to wake up.

a lot of those who you call "living in 1988 motherfuckers" are only 14-25yrs old and aren't living in 1988 and can respect the old as well as the new band

I think having Izzy around once in a blue moon is cool, but it is hard to ever start to establish the new band's identity by having old members hanging around or playing such a heavy AFD setlist. Izzy's presence on the stage in NY completely overshadowed the new players, and that is not what this band needs right now. Any Izzy presence for more than a show every so often will do nothing but fuel reunion talk, as him on stage makes people get nostalgic for the band they once loved.

Its very encouraging that after a decade these two former best friends are friends once again, i doubt we'll see Izzy ever rejoin the band but its encouraging all the same

When you consider Axl has met with Matt Sorum, Izzy Stradlin and Slash this year after years of recriminations there has definetly been progress

Im sure Izzy would go to Europe if fair was payed for. He might look at it as a vacation more than a GNR reunion though.

The only thing that will excite me is if they play new material they colloberated on together.

GUNS N' ROSES founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin joined his former band onstage for three songs at the final show of the group's four-night stand in New York City on May 17. Stradlin, who left the group in 1991, performed "Think About You", "Patience" and "Nightrain", the latter of which also featured an appearance from Kid Rock. Izzy was heavily rumored to turn up for the group's New York shows, its first concerts since December of 2002.

Regarding the possibility of guest appearances with GUNS N' ROSES on their current European tour, Izzy said in a posting on his official web site, "I don't have any concrete plans at this moment to join them in Europe but I will let you know if it changes. Please let people know nothing is confirmed at this point for Europe. NY was pretty cool."

Izzy left GNR in mid-1991, just around the time its "Use Your Illusion" albums were released. He has since recorded five albums on his own, either as a solo artist or with the JU JU HOUNDS.

Axl has promised that the band's long-delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy", will be out later this year, but no release date has been announced.

Yes,  but let the man do what he wants. It's no his deal playing huge rock festivals..it's not his personality. I'd rather see a happy Richard Fortus than a un-happy and moody Izzy Stradlin in the band

This is for the guy who said that a lot of the people living in 1988 are 14-25 years old now. It's 2006 now. 1988+14=2002. George Bush's school cuts hurt your mathematical abilities?

Take it easy, Einstein.  He meant that as a figure of speech about people living in the past, though not necessarily alive at the time.  A lot of people like music made before they were born.

Whats the possibilty of izzy showing his face at the download festival.
I mean with the history between G N' R and donnington in 88' where the tragedy took place i figure axl might look upon izzy for some support. its been a long time since 88' but the memories should still be there.

yeah............i know he played NYC and its possible for him to play more shows but i think you missed the concept of axl returning to donnington since 88' where 2 fans died during their set. The memories might still be a bit raw and he might look towards izzy for support in getting through the gig.

Donington '88 will still be in Izzy's memory jus' like Axl's and the rest of the band members who played there back then. It will be a nostalgic and emotional return for Axl I'm sure, and Izzy may well want to be part of it.... we'll see? ;)

But he could guest at the Apollo too  :P But I just know that's impossible.

I find it unlikely he will fly out just to play with GnR. If he happens to be in the country, then maybe, but I would say he just played the NYC gigs coz he was around. He is not the kinda guy to go long distances just for that.

I love how people always create misleading topics so that more people will open them.

Example: If you had created a topic with the title, "What do you think the chances are that Izzy will be at Download?" less people would have opened it.

But by saying, "Izzy to guest at Download...maybe?" you are implying that there is some pre-existing rumor or implication that he COULD be there - whereas in fact it's just total unsupported speculation from your head.

Please, change the title of your topic.
