Title: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: BurningHills on June 01, 2006, 04:51:21 PM I for one, hope not.
I'm asking because for the most part, GN'R have never included bonus tracks on import copies of albums, except for Japan getting "Coma" on Live Era- which we did get in the States, only on vinyl. Anyone else afraid that Japan will get 2-3 extra tracks on their version of Democracy, and we'll have to pay some ridiculous amount just to get the tracks? Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: Irish rose on June 01, 2006, 04:57:45 PM is it something to do with the cost of cd's in Japan etc? The extra tracks give an extra incentive to buy
Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: BurningHills on June 01, 2006, 04:57:50 PM The way I always understood it was that the Japanese folks pay $40-$50 for regular CDs anyway - so it'd be MUCH cheaper for them to import copies from other countries. They get extra stuff to encourage them to buy their domestic versions.
But yes, it sucks that they get exclusive tracks regardless. Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: BurningHills on June 01, 2006, 05:08:43 PM Yes - downloading them is an option, although I'd like to have a hard copy of them.
Maybe they'd turn up on European singles, but there always seems to be that ONE extra track that Japan gets that no-one else does. The worst case scenario I've ever seen of Japan getting TOO much extra stuff is the Bon Jovi boxset - they got an entire freaking CD full of stuff that wasn't available anywhere else. Now THAT is bullshit. An extra track on each disc I could understand, but a whole CD? I seriously hope GN'R doesn't give Japan a whole extra CD of material.. Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: Eternal Flaming Sword of Death... on June 01, 2006, 05:09:34 PM That's why I was pissed at what happened with Velvet Revolver releasing so many different versions of their album. I thought it was fucking the fans and it would be ok to download the songs i needed, rather than buy 5 copies.
At least put the songs on iTunes here in the states, so we can pay for them, but not the whole album three or four times. Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: BurningHills on June 01, 2006, 05:18:18 PM Well I think it was moreso the record company than VR behind all of those re-re-re-releases of Contraband. All I have is the original pressing, and yes, I also just downloaded the tracks that I was screwed out of.
I hope GNR plays it fairly with the extra tracks...maybe a US only EP for the fans The WORST case scenario is what Def Leppard did with their cover cd that just came out - every freaking store got an exclusive version with totally different tracks on each - Best Buy did, Target did, Wal-Mart did, etc. Hell, that's even worse than what VR did. Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: BurningHills on June 01, 2006, 05:34:26 PM Yes, and that's fine for those who don't care - but I'd rather have the real deal on CD than a compressed sounds-like-shit MP3.

It wouldn't be hard to get, but I know that when Live Era was released I jumped on Tower Records Japan and ended up paying 5400 yen (which was like 45 dollars at the time) the US CD was like 24 dollars the week it came out. Post by: J? on June 06, 2006, 03:13:30 AM It's highly unlikely I'll check next week sometime and get a definitive answer Mysteron is seriously the best. People should not fight with the guy. I know I did that whole Boston thing but I had my doubts back then. I was wrong. Mysteron really does provide us with some great information and has helped us out with the NYC shows which was seriously a great thing for him to do. He deserves are respect and some individuals should really stop fighting with him. You guys know who you are! Title: Re: A thought - will Japan get bonus tracks on their version of Democracy? Post by: Blackeyed on June 06, 2006, 03:51:01 AM These bonustracks/versions pretty much depends on the sales of the band in various areas. The basic sales areas are; US, UK, Europe, Asia and AU. for example the VR thing. There was different versions of Contraband for UK, Europe and US. US did got the limited edition with bonus dvd. Wich was the last one. Europe got the tour edition with bonus cd and UK got theyre version with 1 bonustrack. So thats basicly how it works. On singles the thing works basicly only in UK since they have the most efficient single chart wich shows the rest of the world how good anything is (yeah, how lame!) and most of the times, there is 2 versions of one track. This is explained by the thing that when there are 2 versions of the same single they get the sales information on both, but since its same track it only makes into the chart as one single and thats how they can "double" the sales, make it look that is would sell more. when theres 2 versions selling but they are counted as one..... The single pt2 is usually a limited edition version, like slither pt2 was.
And this really sucks big time. |
