Title: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: Sakib on May 31, 2006, 10:01:54 AM Two questions
1. Which comic series has the best tv and/or movie adaptation? 2. Which comic series is better IMO Marvel gets the up for both despite Superman being a killer. So what do you guys and gals think? Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: pilferk on May 31, 2006, 10:10:17 AM Two questions 1. Which comic series has the best tv and/or movie adaptation? 2. Which comic series is better IMO Marvel gets the up for both? despite Superman being a killer. So what do you guys and gals think? Wow...this is a hard call. 1) Tie, for me, though only as of last year.? Spiderman (and Spidey 2) WAS, until last year, the single best adaptation EVER of a comic, IHMO, followed closely by X2.? Last year, though, Batman Begins tied things up.? I'm a real Batman fan (comics) and that movie was just awesome...despite Katie Holmes best efforts to derail it. :)? That being said, Spidey 3 looks KILLER.? And FYI...I've seen some preliminarly early screener reviews of Superman.? I wouldn't get your hopes too high yet.? I'll reserve judgement til I see it. 2) DC's Batman books are still, for me, the best books out there.? I wish they'd stop all the crossover/mega-event bullshit with the DC U, for sure.? But I still think that the canon Batbooks consistently outshine just about ever series out there.? That being said...they're pretty much the ONLY DC books that I really enjoy nowadays, while there are a number of Marvel books I like (the X titles, most of the Ultimate titles, the canon Spidey titles just to name a few). Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on May 31, 2006, 10:11:30 AM I like better DC instead of Marvel
1.- Because DC has superman and batman my 2 fave superheroes 2.- DC came up first with this superheroes stuff 3.- Come on they are fucking better :D Although my fave marvel comic is only X men : ok: Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: darknemus on May 31, 2006, 11:57:58 AM Gotta go with Marvel, sorry.
Although I will say that Batman Begins was a GREAT film. And I'm hoping Superman Returns is a good one, too. The thing about Marvel that I always liked was, they placed their characters in 'real' locations. (As opposed to Metropolis / Gotham). There's just something cool to me about Spidey being able to hang out on the Empire State Building, for instance. Being in NYC week before last, I would actually look up and go "Ok, I can visualize this.. a guy swinging from building to building" - like, it 'made sense', if that makes sense. I dunno, Superman has always seemed just a bit too surreal for me. In addition, although I like Batman - its always irked me the guy has no 'powers'. Guess I like my superheros to be, well, superpowered :) -darknemus Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: Neemo on May 31, 2006, 12:02:00 PM Haven't been a reader of comics in a while but back in the day I was a Marvel Kid
Better art, and stories IMO as far as movies....I like the first Batman, was a killer Movie But my fav Comic movie adaptions are X-Men : ok: Marvel for both for me  Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: GunsN'Gravy on May 31, 2006, 04:27:37 PM I like dead world comics, they are watercolor zombie death comics. They also do your homework and microwave your pizza pops for you.

superman is just boring. again, without knowing it all, can you tell a DC hero from a Marvel ? are there details that shows where they''re from ? drawing style ? rules ? Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: GunsN'Gravy on May 31, 2006, 04:57:08 PM Marvel doesn't suckand DC sucks, it's pretty easy to tell the difference, put your ear up to the comic if you hear a sucking sounds, put it back and grab the other one.

DC: Batman, Superman Marvel: Spiderman, Venom, Daredevil, Hulk. What do you want, a whole list? Well...the famous ones. Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: Back Off Bitch on May 31, 2006, 07:54:41 PM Marvel is better all around...
I read a lot of Marvel Comics: Young Avengers, Hulk, New Avengers, Ultimate X-men, Ultimate Spider-man, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Astonishing X-men, X-men, New X-men, Sensational Spider-man, X-factor, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man, Amazing Spider-man, Wolverine, Wolverine Origins, etc... The only DC I read are: Justice, All-Star Batman & Robin, All-star Superman & Supergirl... Marvel movies are better... Don't get me wrong, I love Batman, Batman Returns & Batman Begins but Spider-man, X-men & Daredevil are better, in my opinion... Superman is mediocre; Superman 2 is pretty good; the other Superman movies are garbage as well as Batman Forever & Batman and Robin... But Hulk, The Punisher & Blade are really good... Blade 2 & Blade Trinity are all right... Elektra isn't too good... So, all together, Marvel is better Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: Back Off Bitch on May 31, 2006, 07:59:14 PM Can someone just clarify which company made which super-heros? I know... I could go on and on... Title: Re: DC vs Marvel (comics) Post by: NickNasty on May 31, 2006, 08:39:43 PM Two questions 1. Which comic series has the best tv and/or movie adaptation? 2. Which comic series is better IMO Marvel gets the up for both despite Superman being a killer. So what do you guys and gals think? 1. Marvel had the edge on this one ( Spideys were excellent), but Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns look like they might even the score. 2. It's been DC for me since i was 11..not because the stories have always been great, but because the characters have history behind them...marvel unquestionably had better writers for most of the 90s, but i think with DC is reestablisihing itself with excellent as the frontrunner with writers like Geoff Johns. Infinite Crisis was the most enjoyable thing I read in years, and the One Year Later Batman and Superman stories have been excellent. Although I do love the X-Men movies too. 2) I can't really call myself a comic book fan but I do enjoy Superman comics. Overall, my favorite super-hero is Superman. All the advertisements are from January... AICN has a review up that I swear I could have written: http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=23430#5 For me, that pretty much sums it up. Miller's last Batman project sucked too (IMHO)...and was late. I wonder when/if DC is just gonna give up on him. I'm glad you're enjoying it though. I'll stick to the canon bat titles now....I had them pull ASBR from my "list". I just can't read it anymore...too painful for me.
