here's a clip of Tommy playing CrazymixedUpWorld w/ Soul Asylum.

By the way, the new GN'R Euro-tour dates conflict w/ Tommy's commitments to Soul Asylum

Why doesn't he just leave that shit. Hes in one of the biggest bands in the world now. Seems he isn't too commited with Guns, which isn't fair for the fans.

He does not do that for good reason.  The bass player of Soul Asylum, who Tommy was good friends with suffered a very painful fight with cancer and died last year.  Soul Asylum, which is a Minneapolis band, only felt that Tommy, due to his ties with the band, would be the right fit to finish the bass parts not completed at the time of his death.  Therefore, due to his friendships, when he is available, he will play with them.  I think it speaks volumes about Tommy's integrity, and any suggestions that he should "drop this side project" come across as insensitive to the situation, and pretty sophomoric.  Axl and mgt. have no problem with this, so it's a dead horse.  BTW, Soul Asylum is a great band, and the new work I have heard sounds great!  I wish these guy's all the best in the future.

Well said Minneapolis!
Tommy is a very talented musician. He needs to be out there playin music.
I don't think he should just sit back and wait while Gn'r aren't on the road?
Gotta say, I think he is the best addition to the new line-up of Guns.

That might prove to be a challenge...

Since Duff is playing guitar for Alice in Chains this Summer... ;)

Soul Asylum are ok.

I got to see Soul Asylum back in 1992/1993 when they appeared on stage after Blind Melon and before Guns n'Roses. I had no idea who they were, i never knew who Blind Melon were either at the time  :hihi:

All i remember Soul Asylum for is for the track Runaway Train. The video to that song was way over played. Must have worked as i ended up picking up the album. It's a pretty good album. It was the first and last Soul Asylum album i picked up though. Blind Melon on the other hand, well i like them alot now and have all their albums. Just need their DVD now  :)

I can think of a number of people who left the biggest band in the world to play in smaller bands, so Tommy doing this is nothing new

I love soul asylum, and I've been listening their stuff for years now. they are one of my favorite bands, right along side with GNR and NIN. dont go talkin crap about them or their music. I wouldnt mind even if tommy stayed with them.
their songs have avesome lyrics, and music is great.

"Somebody to Shove" is one of my all time favorite songs!!!  I think they are a brilliant band!!  Literally, I have no choice, they are my wifes favorite band!!  She is, if there is such a thing, a Soul-Asylum-head!

my favorite is "string of pearls"
this song caught me the first time I heared it.
I know this might be found as blasphemy here, but I like it more than some GNR songs.
"Let Your Dim Light Shine" is excelent, AFD in it's own cathegory, not a single filler.

Soul Asylum rules. They've been around since the early 80's. they used to have a harder rock sound to them back then but like most all bands they've grown up and slowed a bit. I still love them. they're music is so honest. there's no bullshit involved with these guys at all and Tommy filling in for Karl Muelller is ace. If you have nothing good to say about it than keep your mouth shut.

Its a damn shame Shannon Hoon died the way he did. Blind Melon was a band that seemed to be growing each day. The little girl in that video from what I saw on VH1 is married and has a kid and she remarked that Hoon was the sweetest guy on the set. God takes the good ones early as usual.
