Title: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: Bono on May 23, 2006, 12:11:22 AM I had completely forgot about this untill now. When staying at the Hotel Pennsylvania in New york for the hammerstein shows I noticed an actual hotel room down the hall from mine(677) which was room number 666. That's fucked. I honestly thought those rooms didn't exist. :o

Often the 14th floor is actually the 13th............. For real? I've never paid attention to that. I always assumed that was just a myth. Hmmm.. I'll have to take a look from now on when I'm in a building with 13 or more floors. Still I'd rather stay on the 13th floor than in room 666 :nervous: Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: Eazy E on May 23, 2006, 12:48:39 AM Yeah, they don't have a 13th floor at most hotels.... but come on, people on the 14th floor, you know where you really are. ? :hihi:

It's the haunted room from the movie, The Shining. Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! I should. Everyone should see the Original Jack version of The Shining!! Hotel living is never quite the same either. Even Big Wheels creep me out... :hihi: What's the big deal about 13 and 666? They are NUMBERS! My daughter was born on the 13th and she couldn't be a luckier kid. Should we celebrate all births on the 13th on the 14th instead?? :P Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! " there is now a 13th floor almost everywhere, Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: Kujo on May 23, 2006, 07:54:14 AM I'm staying at a hotel and it doesn't have a 13th floor 'cause of superstition. But c'mon, everybody on the fourteenth floor, you know what floor you're really on. "What room are you in?" "1401." "No you're NOT! Jump out of the window, you will die EARLIER!"
Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: Sterlingdog on May 23, 2006, 10:52:51 AM I used to be in charge of a home for the mentally ill where the street address was actually 666. No kidding. I always wondered who planned that one. It didn't seem to bother the residents though.
Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: Mal Brossard on May 23, 2006, 01:02:24 PM I've heard for some of those "no 13th floor" buildings, they build a really small floor (like 1 foot high) at the 13th. So technically there is a 13th floor, but no one could ever really go to it. Not sure how true it is, just something I've heard.
Title: Re: I didn't think these rooms existed... this is fucked up!! Post by: godiva on May 23, 2006, 01:11:17 PM Funny thing is, in the Roman times 17 was the unlucky number, not 13. I guess it all depends on the country you live in. I'm not superstitiuous, I wouldn't mind sleeping in room 666 or on the 13th floor. Besides, what's the third floor in Great Britain is the fourth floor in the States, so if you're really mental about stuff like that, stay away from the 12th and the 14th as well. Hey, maybe you can get a nice discount for staying on the 13th floor? Should try that!

Post by: Eeebs on May 24, 2006, 06:38:04 AM There are a few streets and courts in my neighbourhood that omit house number 4. Apparently, number 4 is considered bad luck in a few cultures as well.
As for the number 13, I consider it to be a lucky number! :) |
