Sorry but i need to know something. I'm goin' crazy. Is there anybody here who thinks, like me, that this is not Guns n' roses?
Let me explain this please...
I love Axl Rose. You can believe me when i tell you that i've been a really pasionated fan of this band. I love their music, They're the best band ever to me without any doubt. I have all their albums, a lot of bootlegs, magazines where they appeared, I started to play guitar and bass influenced by them (Slash and Duff) ... And I love Guns n' roses!!!!!!!!!!
But I can't understand how people identify this band with Guns n' roses. I love Axl Rose, and i love that, after all these years he's doin' music and concerts again. I like the leaks. But how can you call his band "Guns n' Roses"? Do you really think the should be call "Guns n' ROses"?. Do you really think that Axl rose is Guns n' roses?
Well, let me tell you another thing. Can you call a band "Metallica" only with James hetfield? or Rolling stones only with Jagger? or Aerosmith only with Tyler? Do you really think, for example, that Steven tyler is aerosmith? Sorry but i Can't

I am probably one of the few on this board who agree with you.  I love the new stuff, love Axl, but feel kinda funny calling what I saw this week in NYC Guns N Roses. 

HOWEVER:  I ABSOLUTELY LOVED WHAT I SAW.

who cares if it feels funny, bottom-line this is Guns N' Roses, hasn't changed, same band it was when Slash and Duff and Izzy, etc. were there, so however you feel, this is Guns N' Roses

Didn't people come to terms with this back around 1999? Like it or not, Axl made this decision a long time ago, and it ain't changing any time soon. The band I saw at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City was most definitely Guns n' Roses.

I loved that shit at the time.   I would have never gotten into that song if it weren't for that.  I was like.... I dug their previous stuff, but now they sound like wussies.  Ohh wait, he's writing a love song about his daughter, I see.

The Pussies?  Haha, I'd love that.  I just hope Axl doesn't go out like  The King "Elvis" and Morrison.  We've all heard why he kept the name.  He feels it in his heart.  Plus you couldn't get a cooler name.

I consider it Guns n Roses just because the other guys bailed on him. ?Sure it isn't the same band but I think Axl makes GnR. Without Axl there wouldn't have been a GnR. It is just my opinion.

Another example is the lead singer change in Ac/Dc. ?They didn't change their name when the main man died. ?A lead singer change is bigger than a bass/guitarist/drummer leaving.

Once the new album is released everyone is gonna forget about new guns and old guns because the current guns will be "the" guns.  I didn't feel like the new guys were Guns N' Roses, but after the four shows at Hammerstein and the acoustic gig at Plums I'm starting to feel like they are the band now and the new cd will only solidify that....once it is released  :nervous:

Umm actually Axl was in Hollywood Rose with Izzy, they formed with Duff Tracii Gunns & some other drummer & thus why they called it Guns N Roses it was a combination. Then Tracii & teh drummer left Slash & Steve joined rest is history

I think what he's trying to say it isnt Guns N Roses, the same band that rocked the world during the late 80's & early 90's. That band i guess to the majority of the public is Axl & Slash, the other guys werent as charismatic i guess u could say. Its kinda like Axl & Slash were the McCartney & Lennon of Guns N Roses.

When the beatles broke up, did Paul McCartney take on the name & do covers of many beatles songs with new band mates. NO. Did Lennon do it. NO. Van Halen got away with changing lead singer & keeping the band name same with Black Sabbath ACDC & other bands coz for the most part MOST of the band was still in tact, just missed 1 member, albeit a major member

With these "Guns" its just Axl & i guess u could even be generious & count dizzy, theres like 6 different members now....thats a massive change & to many it isnt guns its just Axl Rose. Hell theres more original Guns & even a future addition to the group (Matt joined like Dizzy did) so if anythings theres more Guns N Roses in Velvet Revolver than the new "Guns N Roses"

Officially, he can own the name, the court of public opinion he cant own our opinion ears & believes & while i like the new leaked material....i cant call it Guns N Roses coz it just isnt, just as Velvet Revolver isnt Guns N Roses (or even STP). They're there own bands IMO & it doesnt mean they're shit, they're good or great, but they aint the same as the original Gunners to most, only ppl who say they are are the axl whorshippers & thats fine they can believe that, but again MOST WONT BUY IT!

Awesome post, dude.  I support Axl in wha he does, and I like what I've been hearing from him recently with both the leaks and the live shows.  If he feels its necessary to call this thing Guns N' Roses, then legally he's allowed to do that.  When the Stones plit, Jagger had the guts to call it Mick Jagger's solo stuff...not the Stones.  I wonder if Axl realizes he has enough talent and notoriety that he doesn't have to milk the GN'R name and GN'R's old songs to be succesful?

IMO guns has changed musicaly, now its alot of techno stuff involved, im not knocking it, it sounds great, but its not the all out 5peice rock act it was in 87!IMO guns n roses now, is only the name of the band, if i were to feel like it was guns n roses id have to include axl, slash, duff, izzy, matt/adler!!
