Richard's solo leading into Patience was awesome, as was the Fortus/Finck duet on the Aguilera cover

Simply amazing.

The only BAD thing of Christina Aguilera's version of ''Beautiful'' is Christina Aguilera. Her voice sounds like a pig being murdered. But, instrumentally, ''Beautiful'' is a very nice song, IMHO

Someone at MyGNR said that IRS sounds like ''Fighter''. Well, that's another example of what I'm saying. ''Fighter'' could be a great song, but Christina Aguilera's nauseating voice ruins it.

 :peace:

Yeah well, "Beautiful" was written by Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes, remember?) and she really rocks! Check out her biography on Wikipedia, she's done many amazing things.

I like a lot the Richard Fortus solo, he really got the bluesy vibe in his playing. Check it:

That's true. I like his sound best of these new members. He reminds me about Izzy and his sound (might be also because of the equipment they're both using).. it's great to have this guy in the band :peace:

He reminds me more Slash than Izzy in his guitar playing. He is more skilled than Izzy.
The more I listen to Fortus, the more I think Bumblefoot is not really necessary in this band. This 3rd guitar player thing is useless.
Finck and Fortus could have done the job, really.

As much as I love ron he is not essential to the band at all. Robin and Richard are more than capable of handing the parts, just listen to richards solo's he can shred with the best of them.

For those interested I kept track of the solo's on sunday... although they were pretty close each night. they are as follows

Robin 23
Ron 13
Richard 9

this doesn't include solo's outside of songs, or signature riffs IE intros. It was solo's in the songs. IE sweet child has 3 solo parts first interlude between chorus and 2nd verse (ron), 2nd interlude between 2nd chorus and bridge (ron), solo (robin).

While ron is a very cool guy and great player... its really unnecessary. I love richard and robin.... especially now. They have so much charasma and chemistry together.... not to mention really gracious dudes. i met richard after the show on the 15th and he was awesome. Robin came out but he was talking on his phone and I didn't want to bother him.

I love the 'beautiful' solo personally I thought they took a lame song and brought out the beautiful melody in it. Can't wait for the album to really hear them shine

I don't care what anyone says, because the second softer part of Richard's solo reminds me of Hendrix and John Mayer crossed. I serouisly think he derived these guitar lines from the song called "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix. Check it out and listen to it long enough, then listen to this, and there is a striking similarity. Guitarists get a lot of solo lines derived from past songs, so I'm pretty sure that Richard did this with "Little Wing". You rock Fortus! You were born in St. Louis, so convince Axl to get his ass over here! : ok: : ok:

little wing is one of my favs by hendrix. awesome tune.

i liked robin's playing best. they are both great, but robin just blew me away on the 12th and 17th. fantastic.

ive said it before and ill say it again, this band is really good.
i dont need a reunion, this is my GNR.

I thought the solos kicked ass. I could've really done without one or two of them, but they were all great nontheless. They're "Beautiful" solo was amazingly touching between the two. You can tell they are really good friends...

Robin's solo leading into SCOM was awesome, i flipped out when he started SCOM. Robin is an amazing guitarist and the show on the 15th was amazing, as im sure the others were too.

I love Richard's solos the best and Finck plays some good ones but also a couple i didn't like that much.  Ron is great but his solos were hit or miss too, he should do more bluesy focused ones in my opinion.

i was SO HAPPY that Fortus got his time in the spotlight though, and the jam he did with Finck was sweeeeet!  i hope in the future Fortus and Ron get to jam out!!!

Well, a review in Newsday (a Long Island newspaper) after Monday's show (I think) indicated that somewhere along the line in the show, part of a guitar solo was Somewhere Over The Rainbow.  Can't recall and have not heard the boots to check.

I was at the 12th show, Robins solo before SCOM was very Hendrix like. I loved it.

As you can guess from my user name, Fortus is my favourite GNR member presently but from hearing the boots I can't help but be so impressed by Fincks playing. I was always a fan, always dug the feeling he puts in to every note but from what everyone has been saying he really stole the show in NYC!

Ron is there to beef up the sound....and he does. It is needed and when you hear it live in person, you will know why. Just wait Euro's, you'll see. :hihi: They all three exceeded my expectations on Wed.? My only problem is that there are too many individual solos. If Axl needs to rest, let the entire band play an instrumental or find a cool cover song where Tommy could sing-hell, they could add one of Tommy's Village Gorilla Head songs like Motivation (a good rocker) to the set.  :peace:
