Title: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: SWINGTRADER on May 17, 2006, 03:05:18 AM The New York Post's "Page Six" column reports:
GUNS N' ROSES fanatics who can't get enough of the band's sold-out comeback shows at Hammerstein Ballroom can take solace in the fact that Axl Rose may be moving to town. The formerly reclusive rocker, who's become a fixture on the Manhattan club scene in recent weeks, is rumored to be looking to buy a posh downtown pad. At Monday night's show, Rose told the crowd that no matter how he tries to disguise himself here, "I'll be in a cab and some guy driving a dump truck will go, 'Hey Axl!' How do they [bleeping] know it's me?"? Welcome to the greatest city in the world ? Axl .? ? Glad to have you as a neighbor? ?: ok: ? This is his roots he should come see us again." crap. To cut this off at it's source I say: People grow up, and people change. It's not 1991 anymore, and the scene in L.A. isnt what it was back then, in fact it's pretty much dead now. Axl will more than likely fit in better in NYC.

I prefer Chicago and Miami over L.A.? ? ?I love Miami ,? women there put cali girls to shame . oh god... Chicago is soooo crowded and Hot as fuck or cold as fuck...? Miami has some hot woment but the latina girls, asian girls, white girls in LA cant be beaten... I wish they all could be california girls! lol LA has plenty of culture and identity.. the history is unmatched...? beaches, Vegas right next door.. Tijajana,... its a small cruise up the coast to Portland, Seattle,...? ?New york is next door to a bunch of hicks.. not to mention the uptight politicans that are in everyones buisness ... nah.. no thanks... too cold too. Latina girls ??? all they have are fat mexican chicks . Miami has all kinds of latin women . Colombians, Cuban , Venezuelen , etc. Those women are gorgeous. Also, they say it's very easy to live a normal life in NY and disappear when you want to. And last but no the least, NY is rumored to be a city that is always on top of the " hype" and very " avant garde". but if new yorker think they're european they need to think again white sneakers and pink sweat pants for girls is NOT european. :) i still wanna live there for a couple years. but man, nothing compares to Panam ;) NYC feels like americans trying so hard NOT to be american, but ... they can't fake it ... i do love the Long Island accent tho ... " eeellllaaaiiine, you gottaaa haaaave a bbaaaabbbyyyy ... " :) AXL rocked NYC tho !!!! there are some pretty cool places on 5th av. like along the park, in front of the Met ... quiet et great view, that's where i wanna live Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: Jessica on May 17, 2006, 09:19:58 AM i love NYC but if new yorker think they're european they need to think again white sneakers and pink sweat pants for girls is NOT european. :) German girls wear that, london ones too, and if you look at the adidas french stores booklet, seems like the french ones do too. I live in this city, the greatest city in the world and I like it just the way it is. Axl moving here would ROCK. He said himself that nYc was the best, his new Paradise City. cool man ;) NYC rocks yes. and i can see this older axl there. but still ... NYC is NOT the best city in the world. it's like a BIG mall :) to jessica > hum. sneakers and sweatpants ? adidas ? the french girls I see around me DO NOT wear sporty. icon > i dunno. but NYC is not like the rest of the united states that's for sure. they're nicer than europeans tho :) i didnt recognize Fred Dusrt at the concert, was he next to lenny kravitz ? Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: Scottyl333 on May 17, 2006, 10:34:47 AM I prefer Chicago over L.A. and New York. Reason, you can do anything in Chicago that you can do in L.A. and New York. Also, people are for real in Chicago. There are not as many fakes like in those two cities. In New York everyone thinks that they have connections and are somebodies and in L.A. everyone is a actor. In Chicago there is less of that. People are just more down to earth and it has the best skyline in the world with the skyscrapers on the lake. You got everytype of girl you want here so there is a great mix. Miami is hard to beat but I was a little turned off by how unamerican that city is. Dont get me wrong, I love Latin girls they are my favorite but when you go to the gas station and the person cant even sell you ciggs because he doesnt speak one word of english, something is wrong. Not to mention all the signs in Spanish and not English.
Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: Scottyl333 on May 17, 2006, 10:38:21 AM Also, about New York, everyone says its the greatest city in the world. You see it a lot even on this forum. Have they been to London, Rome, Paris or even Toyko. Have these people been to anyother cities besides New York. I doubt it so you really cant say its the greatest city on the earth. Usually the only places people from New York have been is the New York/New Jersey area and Miami. They all go to MIami the last week of March I think. I guess they dont feel comfortable going to MIami when other people from the U.S. are there. The New York attitude just really gets to me.
Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: comaknight on May 17, 2006, 10:38:38 AM The good thing for celebrities in NY is that most folks from NY don't bother them. They walk fairly freely around, hitting restaurants, concerts and the like and are rarely mobbed. I think it's a respect thing.
The tourists, however, fawn over the famous folks. Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: JennaSide on May 17, 2006, 10:45:10 AM Hey, I'm not a tourist, but if I run into him, I'm fawning all over the place
Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: GeorgeSteele on May 17, 2006, 11:09:10 AM I don't know how this thread turned into a bash New York and New Yorkers' attitudes. I've lived here my entire life and people here can be vicious, kind, and everything in between. Kind of like anywhere else in the world. So everyone knock it off with the stereotypes. That pisses people off and it makes you sound ignorant. Back on topic: Axl, welcome to NYC. If CD is not out by December 20, kindly leave. I live here, and have run into tons of celebrities over the years. People pretty much just say "That's cool that I saw (fill in the blank)," and move on without bothering them. It's the city you live in if you want to remain anonymous! Title: Re: Axl moving to New York permanently. welcome to NY my man Post by: Scottyl333 on May 17, 2006, 11:48:16 AM If anything, New York worships their celebs. In Chicago we can care less. You will see players from the White Sox or Cubs in regular bars and nobody will do anything. Maybe buy them a drink. Ran into Eddie Veddar a couple of years ago on Michigan Ave. and didnt even say anything to him. Just walked right past him. Saw Vince Vaughn and Jen Annistan not to long ago and people werent running up to them. Chicago is still very much blue collar and thats what I like about it.

San Diego is a great city. My favorite city in California but I hate being hot all year round. Luckily its on the ocean but cities like Phoenix are just to much. I get sick of constant weather so maybe Chicago is the perfect city for me because the weather changes so often.

Title: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: marknroses on May 18, 2006, 09:14:23 PM AS a proud resident of NYC, watching the transformation of AXL ROSE over the last 5 months, I can't help but make the following suggestions. NYC SAVED AXL & REMADE AXL : ok:
NYC is the greatest city in the world - so diverse with over 180 nationalities, so persistent that 9/11 seems here more like a hiccup than the apocalypse. Its no wonder that for the past 12 years, California dreamin was very unhealthy for Axl. He retreated to his mansion and thought he could sort his life up there. Maybe he did to some extent but it didn;t bring him back to his old rock stardom. Sure he came back in 2001 and 2002, but he looked odd, out of shape at times, and with no sense of style and little hunger in his bite. No spontaniety. You wondered how bad of a toll this hermit lifestyle had on Axl. Watching Axl now, you will see what NYC has done to him. Axl is a FAST learner of pop culture - he once adapted very quickly to the LA from a quiet hippy/punk from Indiana in 1985 into a bad ass Rock Star in leather - and he's done it again! NYC living made him friendly, intimate and hungry. His style is picked right out 5th avenue hippest stores and his news and appearances make Madison Avenue. Now (and why this wasn't reported here I don;t know but it was in yesterday's NY Post) AXL is looking to move to Lower Manhattan (my guess would be Tribeca or Meatpacking District). It was once stated how celebrity couples have a harder time getting along in the gated communities of California than in the intimate neighborhoods of NYC. It seems that Axl has finally found home - IN PARADISE CITY (he said so himself). Its sad how for 44 years, Axl never reallly had a place to call home. Indiana threw him in jail many times and California LA, even Axl said in a 1991 that it never really felt like home to him. He bought land in Wisonsin with his stepfather in 1990 and thought about moving to the country, but then he changed his mind. But he's always had an affection for NYC, even writing WTTJ on his experiences here as well as filming "The Garden" & "Paradise City" in NYC (or the meadowlands). I hope for his sake that he moves here. He'll have contact with people regularly again and lose all the stigmas that plagued him and his personal life over the last 12 years. No more "Estranged" on the Malibu Mansion, its time for "Paradise City" MNR Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: DEAD HORSE on May 18, 2006, 09:26:37 PM New York KILLED John Lennon >:(

Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: Scottyl333 on May 18, 2006, 09:50:19 PM Here goes the New York attitude everyone knows about. Listen, you dont have to tell me your city is better then mine. You dont think L.A. doesnt have the hippest clothing stores? Come on. All the top actors live in Cali. New York did not save Axl. Im from Chicago but have been to both L.A. and New York. Both have there good things. He will never leave California. Thats for sure. He might have a pad in New York but his home will always be Cali. People like to experience different things. Its natural. Im sure if he lived in New York for the past 20 years he might like Cali a lot more if he visited it. Jen Anistan is buying a house in Chicago with Vince Vaughn because she liked it so much when she was here filming her new movie. That doesnt mean she is going to leave Cali.
Im sure New York is a great city if your rich like Axl. I doubt hes going to be hanging out in Hunts Point. Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: warrocks on May 18, 2006, 09:54:27 PM aagh who cares which city helped or whatever. ::) :hihi:

Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on May 18, 2006, 10:18:25 PM NYC is a more vibrant and alive city than LA. I live in LA, but I've traveled to NYC a good number of times. After getting back from Monday's show, there's a lot to like about NYC. The public transportation and not having to sit in traffic with no alternative is nice, and the city just feels more connected and accessible. You can walk to almost anything you need. In LA everything is so distant, it's so spread out. Especially where Axl lives. In LA he had a good excuse to stay home all the time, because to get anywhere from where he live can literally take hours. So I can see living in NYC, in the heart of the city, helping him get energized and want to go out, rather than just staying to himself
But that said there are things about LA that are better than NYC. The weather, the beach, the outdoors. Both cities have great food. They both have on thing in common that sucks, nightlife and restaurants are both ridiculously expensive But Axl needs to play LA soon :crying: Last 5 shows have been in NYC, while they haven't played LA since the 90s. LA still loves GnR, I can say with confidence the crowd energy, excitement and atmosphere if GnR were to play Hollywood H.O.B. would match what we saw in Hammerstein :smoking: Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: Chief on May 18, 2006, 10:49:49 PM great post.. yes the crowd here would eat this kind of stuff UP! and as some people are saying, Axl will never leave behind LA, its been part of his life for way too long. I really hope my favorite rock star doesn't leave L.A.. Maybe I'm being selfish, but that would suck if he left, which I don't think he will do. He's invested so much of his life in that house. Maybe he'll just get himself a flat in NY, but hopefully he won't spend too much time there OR his Malibu house because he will be very busy touring! : ok: And see you guys at Staples! I've driven the road it's on. There are a lot of big mansions on the road, although I'm not sure exactly which one is Axl's. It's a beautiful area, but it's out in the middle of nowhere. As you well know, getting from the hills in Malibu to the Westside is a trek, even if traffic isn't that bad Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: Chief on May 18, 2006, 11:53:09 PM hey man,
yeah a long time ago since my friend knew where it was we drove by. you can't see much from the outside but what you can see looks pretty sweet! we just drove around malibu that day and checked it out real quick, since he knew someone who lived very close. In my opinion its too great of a place and too much history for him to just completely move to another city. hope to see you at the next GNR show in LA too!!! :peace: Shotgun and Chief, have you ever driven by his place? I really hope my favorite rock star doesn't leave L.A.. Maybe I'm being selfish, but that would suck if he left, which I don't think he will do. He's invested so much of his life in that house. Maybe he'll just get himself a flat in NY, but hopefully he won't spend too much time there OR his Malibu house because he will be very busy touring! : ok: And see you guys at Staples! Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on May 19, 2006, 12:00:23 AM Its a lot harder to be a recluse in NYC. Thats good for Axl. There is only one city like NY.
Lets Go Mets! Yankees still suck ass! Title: Re: Axl Rose & NYC (Move To Da City) Post by: metallex78 on May 19, 2006, 12:02:11 AM (http://pics.livejournal.com/nicky_santoro/pic/000aybgs)
