Short article on Izzy playing with GNR.  It has a small picture as well.  Not that great of an article, but something new.

That picture is NOT recent, it's from the Camp Freddy gig from late 2003 when he played with Slash/Duff.

All this shit about reunions and Slash really pisses me off!

Doesn't everyone think that its such a huge slap in the face to these guys, Finck, Stinson etc who have all worked so fucking hard these past few years to have morons (mostly in the media, but some fans too) saying "It's not the reunion we hoped for" etc etc! I love the new band and without their input I don't think we would ever have heard anything as progressive as Better or CITR.

Jeez, these new guys deserve respect, not to be put down every 5 minutes!  :(

I wholeheartedly agree.  Prior to the show, I figured any more than a few Izzy appearances would threaten to overshadow the band...As miraculous as the appearance was, I think 3 songs was maybe even pushing it a bit (although I'm certainly not, in any way, complaining!).

Fact is, these guys will continue to be the subject of criticism until they put out a proper recording that can be adequately absored and assessed through repeated listenings.

I can't really say it's a huge slap in the face. There's no body of work out for people to look at be impressed by. The people who have bootlegs and/or the leaks is a very small percentage. Your average person is going to look to see what the band has done in the past years and isn't going to see anything to show for that time. No album and a failed tour that was 95% material they had nothing to do with. That's not going to get mainstream media/fans respect. I don't think you're going to see positive reviews until the album comes out and does well on the charts. At least in the US. Outside the US fans don't seem to be so uptight about who is/isn't in the band.

edit - oneway23 beat me by seconds.

Well, I have all the respect for Fink, Stimson and the guya but this is not Guns n' roses. It's like you call Velvet revolver "Guns n' roses", or the guys from snakepit or loaded or... You know who are Guns. To me they're at least :Axl, Slash, Izzy and Duff. These new axl band play really well and i like the leaks as well as I like Velvet revolver . Instead of havin' Guns n' Roses we have two greats bands.

Ok people, how can you call Guns n' roses to the Axl's band?
This is the only thing i don't like from axl.
There would be more intelligent call Velvet Revolver "Guns", 3 of them (at least two, Duff and Slash) are in this great band
This is a question that i couldn't ever understand. Why Axl thinks his band must be called Guns n' Roses. Axl, you're my fuckin' idol but change the name or get back with the real Guns n' roses guys. I'm sure a lot of people thinks the same. It's an act of arrogance

Yeah I agree to a certain extent, but then its hardly the new guys fault that there is no new music out there. It's just this ignorance that seems to occur with some fans and the media, which always strikes me as being so disrespectful to the new guys. And as for it being a US thing, believe me, the Download Festival message boards are full of posts about reunions and whether Slash is gonna be there.

God I can't wait until June 12th when this new band kicks everybodys ass!!! ?: ok:

This is a question that i couldn't ever understand. Why Axl thinks his band must be called Guns n' Roses.

At the time there was no reason not to. In the 90's they had a huge established fan base. Everyone knew the band's name. From a business point of view it's way smarter to continue as gnr than it is to put out an axl rose solo album.

The name issue unfortunately will have negative repercussions; Finck, Fortus, Brain, and Stinson are solid enough to stand on their own legs but the GnR moniker will retard efforts for that recognition. Fortunately, it only takes one concert to change minds.

I'm sure they knew and fully expected it to happen when they signed on with Axl.

No, it's not their fault and it's probably an unfair assessment. But at the same time I see where the media and fans are coming from.

I don't think it's just a US thing but I think the US exemplifies why the band is going to have such a hard time more than other countries. I'm having a hard time finding the words to explain what I mean though.

Nobody is putting down the new guys, just acknowledging how even more amazing this would be if it were the original band.

Man whats your problem? If Axl wants this band to recognized as GUNS NROSES then let him do it.He  got every right to do it.This name belongs to him and he even got the talented people like Finck,Fortus,Tommy and rest of the band to represent this LEGENDARY band and i guaranty you all that this lineup wont destroy the legacy of the OLD GNR but instead they will carry it to the next level in ROCK N' ROLL history...

Plus, guns n roses is close to his real name anyway, take the rose off and it's like you take his family name off ?

He is entitled to the roses.

Rose introduced Stradlin before "Think About You" ? although his comments were almost immediately drowned out by screams from the audience as the guitarist strutted onstage. The two hugged before launching into the number, and one eyewitness reported seeing Stradlin's eyes welling with tears during "Patience."

I bet that was great to see and hear!

This^^point of view is quickly running out of legs to stand on. How is playing 20 yr old songs "carrying it to the next level"? They are moving backwards, not forwards. If Axl wants this version of GNR to succeed and achieve its own greatness, its time to come out of the shadow of AFD.

Izzy performing with Axl is great. Good to know they have started to rebuild their old friendship. But as far as new GNR goes, its just another example of constantly living in the past.
