I've read in a couple of reviews that bumble has been in the band only for a week?!!
can anyone confirm this?
Did Axl say that on stage?!

He did say that at last night's show.

Was it sarcasm as in "he's only been in the band for a short time" or was it literally "he's been in the band for a week"?

does this mean that bumble will be re-recording the songs after the tour is done?

maybe that's whay Axl and Tommy were fighting about? Axl brought Ron in and Tommy thought it was enough with Robin and Richard?

But in reality, Ron Thal had some type of involvment with GNR in 04, whether he just auditioned for them or what.  He didn't come in completely unfamiliar with the band.

It's not too late for Axl to realize the best combinaison for his band is the Finck-Fortus terrific combinaison and chemistry on guitars.
These 2 guys, when they are associated, are gold. LET THEM SHINE.

Axl is doing what he feels is best for Guns N' Roses, you either stand by him or you don't.

I might be wrong, since I wasnt there, but I've read it in MTV and RS review, and they both cant be saying the same bullshit.

don't you finally realize that, as good as fortus and finck are, a true virtuoso is needed to take guns n' roses to that extra level? ron will take this band light years ahead of other bands, but so will axl and the others, but i think ron's talent is needed to give the songs that extra brilliant touch.

Maybe Axl has songs he's working on that require three guitar players and he wants to get bumblefoot in from the get go so that the band's chemistry will keep improving.

well, bumble didnt really bring much to the show on friday, so i think they really havent found a place (musically) for him yet.

which i cool, he sounded really good, but it also sounded like his parts had not been written into anything yet.

i dont think they need to rerecord with bumble, it looked like fortis and finck were doing most of the guitar work anyway, especially on the new tunes.

why did axl wait 2 years to replace buckethead?
and why did he plan a tour without a guitar player?
and is this going to affect the chinese democracy release date?
and is bumblefoot a band member, or only a guy they got to help them tour?

actually 2 months in advance. THe things differ this time.
I wrote my assumption about that ages ago in the dead horse.

1. as far as I know they (axl,management, lawyers have tried to get bucket back up until almost the last minute.

2. They knew they could bring ron or any other generic "shredder" into the fold if need be to learn those parts really quick. Plus this tour had to start now if this album really is gunna drop in 06.

3. No.

4. Who knows? I think if he can gel real well with the band he'll be kept around to do sweeps , appregios and random robotic spider sounds , however I dont think he'll be on the first 2 albums and IMHO may not be around by the time the third is released. I honestly think he is more of a touring/replacement/temp member.

The original Bumblefoot denial was probably just a big cover up.. give them plenty of time for him to rerecord Buckethead's parts??

he hasnt re-recorded buckets parts .. listen to whats been played live , listen close ... ron is playing buckets parts very close to how they were on the leaks.

I was thinking along the same lines originally. Axl said some rumours have to be squashed when they get outta hand. Maybe this was one that they buried so that it would be a surprise at the gig. But then, why would u say he'd been with the band only one week?! (unless he meant in terms of rehersal time - maybe they only rehearsed for a week with him, but he's been in the frame for a while wen needed?!?!?) who knows?! lol

For sure man, but that means he could have replicated them note for note in the studio very easily. Rerecord, not redo in his style and rerecord. It wouldn't take too long.

bands usually make dvds of their best shows, and not the show where one member of the band only just learned how to play the songs.

If they're putting together a DVD with the best shots from all four concerts, I'm sure we'll get one helluva DVD!!  :smoking:

Just because Ron is in the band now does not mean Axl is going to have him redo all the guitar parts of Bucket. Gilby learned most of the material in a short time as well.

When i read the "bumblefoot in the band for a week"comment i assumed axl meant officially signed up as bucketheads replacement,for only a week.And someone said something about axl and the management trying to get bucket back right till the end.If thats true,then they probably had ron learning the stuff just in case,they couldnt get bucket back,which they didnt.just my take on the whole thing.

I think the Hammerstein performances vindicate that the band seems to be functioning a lot better without BH. Awesome guitarist but if he caused all the tension he was rumoured to then they are better off without him.

yea yesterday axl was .ike hes only been in the band for a week now and what a way to fucking kick some ass. I thought he was awesome his solo was fucking sweet interacted with fans better then anyone ive seen in a long time by letting play on his guitar and thanking the audiance after. He is very cool give him a few ddays and he will have all the songs down like hes been doing it his whole life.

You are a longtime member here, and I respect you, but your obsession with those two guys has reached the point of absurdity. You are now creating masterpieces in your mind that only have Finck and Fortus, and they can only be heard by you. Please back up this hero worship with facts and not fantasy. saul is a longtime member here, and respected by many. Go read his prior posts before making a judgement call like that.


EDIT: Just to add something(directed towards you Nes): It is CRYSTAL CLEAR that for this decade Axl has envisioned the GNR lineup to consist of 3 guitarists. Whether its BH, Bumblefoot,etc. NOT two, but three. If Axl wanted a 2 guitarist lineup, it would have been Finck and Huge/Fortus from the start. It wasn't. Deal with it. Axl isnt going to erase BH parts and fire Bumblefoot because a few people are suffering from a severe case of idol worship and aren't willing to be open minded in concern to new GNR's music.

You guys are right, Buckets parts don't NEED to be re-recorded BUT I just can't see Axl putting out a record with Bucket on cos that would give him so much attention, does Axl wanna do that for a guy who walked out on him and in Axl's words 'only used his involvement with Guns to further his own career'? What i'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if Axl did have Ron re-record BH's parts. I am a bit sceptical about an '06 release too as Axl said they still haven't picked the songs that will make the final, which means it hasn't been mastered and thins like track sequencing,artwork etc can take a LONG time in Axl land.

1992 when gnr was touring with metallica,i read one review that man said 2 things:
-metallica-profesional machine,they played 2 hours and after that gone
-guns n roses-these guys have his own real rnr attitude,they haven't  playlist,they do it on the stage.Somebody will think they are no proffesion,i think these guys are realy fantastic and fans like that

Buckethead was cooler with all the gimmicks, sideshow antics  and talent, but Thal does a good job at playing the guitar.
