Who's lookin forward to the show tonight (although it'd still be yesterday in the US..?) I'm confusing myself.

Anyways, I'm hoping for a few things to happen.

1) We get some nice video footage/ audio/ a combination of both? ;)

2) They mix the set list up a bit, maybe throw in Rocket Queen or............ ESTRANGED? :drool:

3) Bumble starts to settle in a bit more and loosen up

and finally

4) GNR put on another amazing show for all the fans out there. I really do feel that this is the year for the GNR train to start chugging and I don't think anyones gonna wanna get in the way of this motherfucker!

I can see them mixing up the guitar solos for each show, but the set list will probably be the same.  Like someone else said, maybe sub out a song or two for rocket queen, think about you.

who cares, they could wear the same clothes and do the same moves and i'd be happy to see it all over again.  The 12th was such a whirlwind I feel like I missed half of it b/c I was so pumped up and excited.  There was so much going on it was tough to take it all in.

They're never going to play more uyi stuff. Most people want to hear AFD and CD, so that's what they're going to play. They're not going to play songs that everyone can't agree on. Everybody has different songs they like on uyi, so playing those songs only a quarter of people will be happy with any given song. Everyone is happy hearing WTTJ, PC, and ISE.

Ask most people on the forums (alot of who are going to the shows) and they'll probably say they would rather here some more Illusion stuff then Appetite.

I highly doubt that they will bring in any more illusion songs. Axl has not spoken highly of those albums in recent interviews, so I think we can scratch off any "new" illusion material.

I could see them switching the lineup of the songs, but I doubt we will get anything too drastically different.

It's a lot harder to alternate songs day in and day out nowadays with a big production. Lights are triggered at certain times during a song, same with pyro, it's a lot more complex now then back in the day when a guy just sat by a panel and flipped a few switches. I can see them playing Rocket Queen, but don't hold your breath for any other song that they've never played before.

For those of us who are NOT going to the concert tonight:

THe only real changes in the 2002 set list was they would either play the "The Blues" before "Chinese Democracy" or vise versa. (I'm NOT saying that's the ONLY change, just the most common one). So we'll just have to see, simply put.

Yeah. There are four nights of shows so they should change it a bit. You'd think that, these being warm up shows, they would use this opportunity to test new material or new additions to the setlists (older songs perhaps they havent done) for the forthcoming tour..

Even if they're not all dressed the same...on my Marilyn Manson DVD's and NIN DVD, they use one audio track (obviously) and different footage from a bunch of different shows, its cool that there is all that footage, but it also gets annoying at some points, when you just want to see one show

He said Baz pointed him to a vocal and throat expert and that it saved the day.
Axl was freaked out because he wouldn't be able to do the show if he voice never came back!!!!

I thought his voice was very impressive in some parts, but I really thought that he was still suffering on other songs from losing his voice just a day ago.

But on Nightrain the second to last song he had a little left in reserve and just killed it!!
But on some songs he sounded weaker and/or they were losing him in the mix.

I still think adding the two extra shows after the 15th and 17th sold out was BS..I knew something like this would happen! Now there's a damn good chance my show is gonna get cancelled, and I'd have no way of getting to the show on the 17th!

No way on the cancel. IF and I mean IF his voice is shot, I honestly would come out with the band playing and dance around or something. That way no one could blame the guy. I think it is more likely no one would believe his voice is actually out... but if he at least showed up and freaking mimed and had Tommy and or Robin sing, or hell even Baz, people would at least know it was his voice and that he was not just shitting on others. If it were me, I could not be pissed if they at least showed up and tried to make something work.

Quiock comments: Rocket Queen was played, extended version of KOHD, more guitar solos in between songs (4or 5?), DUO w. BAZ again on My Michelle (Hell Yeah!!!) with Axl saying many times during the show how Baz saved his life (no details though), fewer new songs than friday (I can only remember Better, The Blues and CD).  The audience seemed much better or louder  than friday ( at least that what he said). Show ended at 1:15am, as friday. Lenny Kravitz and Fred Durst were in the audience. The sound quality was way much better than friday, not perfect yet but getting close. Axl seemed to have a blast. No rant, maybe  a comment on downloading again (can't remember for sure). Setlist was similar as friday except for RQ and the new songs. Don't think they played out ta get me however (anyone?).

As far as ?Axl losing his voice goes, well, I'm a singer myself and I sing in the same range as Axl, and if he regained his voice the day after after completely losing it, it was probably only a temporary shock to his vocal chords and mucus collecting around them that was the cause. Once you see a throat specialist (and trust me, they have fucking magic potions these days), they are usually able to help you out, at least short term. The next few shows should then be no problem for him to perform at (hell, they sometimes even give singers cortisone shots to their throats/necks in some cases, it works like a miracle), but after that he should probably look into resting it and then resume warm up excercises on a daily basis.

As far as the picture taking at the shows goes, if it states that cameras aren't allowed at the show, then that's the way it is. You can't really bitch for breaking the rules and then getting caught. They have every right to stop you from taking pictures. I'm not saying I think it's cool not to let fans take pictures, just don't get all pissed off when you get caught while knowing what the deal is.

Remember, these are just "rehersals"anyway. Axl said that tonight. I guess that is somewhat different from a real show.
He said something like "thanks for joining in the insanity that is the chaos of our live rehersals"

I would like to see/hear some intros and other special stuff, like during UYI-tour there was Only Women Bleed, One, Bad Time, Dust In The Wind, Imagine, I Was Only Joking, Mother etc. It would be great to hear new band doing things like that.. like, then I would feel that they really are part of this BAND. Well, ofcourse they are but still.. it would be awesome :peace: Or maybe some of the new guys could really sing a song, like Duff sang Attitude and Izzy sang 14 Years and so on. Would be great!

TONIGHT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I arived at the pre party which was a blast at 6:00 and left at 8:00

at 8 the doors were open but the line was wrapped around the entire block, so i start walkin and the camera guy is following me and video taping me, So i made a complete fool of myself the entire time

when i got to the end of the line i decided i should just hang out by the entrance till the stops,

So i go back and i ask the camera guy

"are you guys filming for a DVD?"

and he answered ?yes and asked if i could say in the camera that i give permission for them to use my footage in the
 Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy DVD!!!!!!!

So there will be a DVD but they said it wont be out for a year,

So i'm hangin out and people are tking pictures with me and this guy from Metal-Sludge asks me for my e-mail, for an interview and i'll probably be the "sludge of the month" so check in June for ME :peace:

The line didnt stop till 9:25 which was when i went in and after BMFV entire set : ok:

I walk up to the front everyone let me through to get really close to the stage, at 10:55 we see some people finnally arrive on the first VIP Mezz on the right,

Jungle- which i crowd surfed right away,and when they brought me to the side of the stage, i pass
Sabastian Bach, He gave me a huge hand shake and complimented my costume, that guy rules, he was by the right side of the stage the entire show, so i kept crowd surfing : ok:

The setlist was pretty much the same, Rcket queen instead of IRS and TWAT, kinda bummed me but axl did every song better, including better, the crowd was great tonight,

btw, the Hammerstein has a very bouncy floor so make sure everyone keeps jumping up and down!!! it's fun. :)

quick review. just got back. it was MUCH better than friday. the band was tighter, the sound was better, axl's voice was better. these guys are starting to oil up. Bumble was much more comfortable tonight. he actually had a stage presence. on friday, he was lost. he really stepped up tonight. robin and richard were both awesome, just awesome. only downer was that irs, maddy, twat, not played. but it was cool to switch around the set a little and add some solos. it was another great night!!!

It would be cool if the guitarists played a few riffs from some of their favorite/former bands (Bumblefoot: Beatles, KISS; Finck: NIN; Fortus: Stones/Furs) like Slash and Gilby used to do between songs in the UYI days. I think it would be cool as shit to have Stinson play/sing "Attitude" or "New Rose" off TSI.

Tonite's show featured Axl in his best onstage form since EARLY UYI 1991-1992 tour, which is saying a lot. A hell of a lot.
Its fucking 2:45 am and I have work tomorrow.

I am excited for the first time since 2001 about the future prospects of AXL Rose and his increasingly Guns N' Roses. This show was head /shoulders and chest better than the the show I saw in Boston in 2002. THe money was 100% worth it. Its a must see show.

I'll report on the rest tomorrow cuz I need rest now.

SO psyched that after the show, which was awesome once again, I got my ticket signed by Robin, Ron, BAZ!!!, & Dizzy! ?Everyone was very cool, esp Ron, who hung out & talked to the small group of fans for probably an hour. ?Axl ran out & jumped in his car & drove off, so I was a little disappointed about that, but it was a great time anyway. ?See you all tomorrow! ? :beer:

I'm not surprised. The dude has another show to perform in less than 24 hours... and he certainly has to rest his chords and get some sleep. The rest of the band can bullshit for several hours, grab some beers... catch a few Z's and still be good to go later tonight. Not so for a lead singer. Smart move Axl.

tonight, i was floor, but this time, about 6 rows deep in front......i slammed....we slammed....i had a great time, tpnoght was another memorable night for a lifetime!!!!!!!!

Robin's stage dive wast as cool as friday night, when he did it twice....what he did friday night was classic, its hard to reach that point of coolness.....tonight, it was cool but anticlimatic....it was like evreyone knew it was coming, he probably should have waited till next or last show to do it again.....but it was still cool...

tommy was his funny, cool self......richard rocked, but i missed his octave effect on maddy!! ?:(

Anyway, my friend and I got front row against the gate, unreal experience. I cried again... harder this time, actually. ?
Anyway, Axl seemed to be having the time of his life! He was all smiles. I gotta work tomorrow morning, so I better go, but I'll type up more later, but I'm sure you'll hear all the details from the other people here. The show was great, it sounded amazing, the solos were wonderful, the set-list was killer, everyone's energy was great, Axl again looked and sounded like a million bucks, over-all: solid, spot-on show.

And man, Bumblefoot is the nicest guy. I was waiting after the show, too, and he was so cool with everyone. He stood around answering a million questions, signing shit, etc. I was joking around with him, he was just the most down-to-earth sweet guy. None of this has gotten to his head. Baz was pretty funny after the show, too, and my friend almost beat the hell outta MikeGuiliana.. ?:hihi:

Yeah Bfoot is solid. ?I saw both shows and will be at the 15/17th as well. ?His stage presence improved tremendously and his playing sounded a shitload better tonight. ?He nailed Better to the wall with his axe... it rocked.

Give it a little time. Everyone was pissing in Buckethead's cheerios at the start too.... many of those same people were practically suicidal when he quit/got fired...

Bumblefoot is a BEAST... and a lot of people are going to be eating some serious crow in a few weeks/months... He's easily of Slash's and Buckethead's caliber... if not better...

How did Axl's voice sound ? Some said he had some problem... how long was the show ?

I guess a shorter set would be to the benefit of those tomorrow. Two shows in two nights (after a great opening night and then one nights break), I imagine he needs to preserve something for the 3rd night, especially with not much break in between. Makes sense to do a slightly shorter set.

But as Axl himself says, I or nobody have no real idea what's going on - just guesswork.

i was on the floor but in the back friday, and he sounded a 10......tonight, i was way in front, and sounded a 10....he really sounded awesome!


and i wont be doin anything or sayin anything about bumblebee, although axl mentioned he was in the band for like a week or something....whatever, i say go with fortus n robin and forget a 3rd, no need, especially this dude

it's amazing, EVERYBODY says "go with finck and fortus", this is my opinion too, I think Axl is making a mistake with his 3 guitar players thing. finck and fortus are enough.

I think the 3rd guitarist is incredible.  Ron Thal is amazing.  and a really really cool guy.

Loved the show, but was very surpised by the Richard/Robin guitar duet of "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera.  Even more surprising was that I actually liked it.

Last night's show was much better than Fridays. Friday night was a warm up show, last night was a concert. Robin had much mroe stage time than Bumblefoot which was a good thing since Robin is the star, and I think Axl figured that out on Friday. The band sounded better last night as well, much more like a rock band rather than a couple of guys who were replaying what they practiced and trying to hit every note dead on.

Again though, set list! No TWAT, no Maddy, no IRS...but Rocket Queen was there. That's the only complaint about last night. I'm kinda happy I don't have tickets to the next 2 shows because it looks as if it'll be the same songs over and over.

But a great night! Axl was in great spirits cracking jokes with the crowd and really seemed to be enjoying himself, even with the sound problems in the beginning of the set. Terrific show

what a disappointing setlist.  No TWAT, Maddy, or any other classic fan favorites they continue to ignore (estranged, don't cry, double talkin jive).

play something else besides all of appetite.  i had tix for this, but sold them at the last minute.  thank God I did not waste the money getting to NYC.  hopefully they improve the set list later on.   :-\

I am glad I saw them Friday then. Maddy was horrible though because of the sound. IRS didnt fare too well either because it sounded muddled. Glad they played them though. They will probably play Fridays setlist tonight.

I thought the same thing about IRS on Friday...that it sounded a little off. Even worse, was that last night, Axl came in too early singing the verse to paradise city. Friday night he blew the whistle too early, last night he sang the opening verse too soon; why can't he nail that song? He only closes with it every show  ;)

Same here, that was my ONLY nit pick with fridays set list.  RQ is one of my fave Guns songs.  I'm sure between Mon and Wed nights we'll hear it though!

What a night is all I can say, I was super drunk, hung out till after 1am, enjoed the show etc

My highlight was meeting ron out the back entrance after the show...He's from brooklyn, he signed my ticket really cool mentioning a pizza place we spoke of..  Very short guy, but sweet as could be.. I respect the man very much, he stood out there with us answering everything..

Joe satriani had something to do with getting him into new guns as he said... We just talked a lot I even hugged the dude... I really let him know how great it was that he was out there showing us such love..

Bach also came out and signed but left quickly, thenn old uncle axl jumped into an suv without even waving to any of us, he was with beta I noticed her in the car...

Ron thal, or bumblefoot I asked him... He evenbtually said ron, he had a lot of no comments.. I told him I don't call it gnr, snuck it in, but he's a slash fan so it was really cool

rocket queen is one of my favorites, but id rather have i.r.s., twat. madagascar then that.

other than that it sounds like it was a great show and you guys had a good time, glad to hear it.
