I've just seen the setlist, and I can't help to wonder, 3 songs that where recently leaked, all played in NYC last night, is that a coincidence or is it proof that the leaks where intentional? What do you think? I'm starting to think that the leaks where intentional...

I was thinking the same thing when I was coming home from it last night...

since the songs leaked. the very least they could do was play'em for us since we all loved them

the fact they leaked and they were played was no coincidence... Axl let you hear what he wanted you to.. He doesn't want to play anything "new"

I think we will hear at least one "new" track before these NYC shows are done.

I wouldn't be suprised if the set list new songs wise stays the same..

I was 50/50 on whether the leaks were intentional and after the setlist from last night I'm 85% sure they were intentional now.

they didnt play CITR, and it was also leaked, but from a diferent source than Better, TWAT and IRS.
only thing I'm sure is that the band didnt leak CITR, but I'm not so sure for the other 3.

what are the chances those songs leaked and those are the songs they played live and rehearsed...?

I was there, and most of the crowd was totally LAME during these songs.  I was quite surprised that they didn't have a clue.  I was rocking out though!

cause not everyone knows them.... maybe an album before would have helped this...

The songs were leaked during the time when the first batch of live shows were being announced to the media and they needed a promotion tool. No matter what Axl says, it's quite obvious that we were meant to hear these when we did.

It turned out to be a top idea, and would have been an even better one if they had got the album out in time for the tour.

Not really he most likely didnt want to play any "new" songs.. And since those were the ones leaked why not play them when lot of people have heard them + any new songs would have been bootlegged which is propably the main reason any unheard songs weren't played. Besides as said many times the NYC shows are warm ups.. The main tour is in Europe so possibly he is saving the songs for european shows.

yeah i was thinking that too.  pretty much every new song we have  he sang.  the leaks were intentional, and it worked out perfect.  axl wanted people to be used to the songs so that we could sing them during concerts.  the gunners next to me were singing the new songs and u could tell who was a forum user.  the people that didnt sing were gunner friends.

I still think Axl wanted those songs leaked and for now, I'm not changing my mind.

RS reported that Axl's favs among the songs they were working on were better, twat and the blues and that was the first time we heard the title better.

donno about the leaks but I think the mention there couldn't be a coincidence. they were playing the 3 tunes anyway.

i'm still amazed that they played those songs, it feels like a dream!
and i wasn't even there! but, we all know how well axl keeps his secret, and i've thought this all along, him mentioning TWAT, better and the blues as some of his favs to RS and then they leak and are played in concert, well it doesn't really seem like a coincidence to me. but who knows. axl's a smart guy.

I think that ollowing the leaks thay jad to play those songds cos othersisw there would be no rusprise when thew album comes out so it made sense to play those.

i dont think they leaked them. Obviously the band know what songs leaked so they have no reason not to play them live, the cats out of the bag so to speak. I wish'd they'd played catcher in the rye.

For those of you saying "Well he didn't play CITR"... Why on earth would he?
That is one of the most boring "rock" songs I've ever heard. People go to a rock show to get trashed, get ripped and rock the fuck out. Not to get put to sleep by a lullaby.

Haha i think he layed them to convnce himself that he did a good job on the songs 15 years of work they better be good. I still think it was funny when he said before IRS " u downloaded them Fuckers" haha that was great... and to answer the question... not a coincidence at all in my opinion

It's hard to tell if they were intentionally leaked. But obvioulsy the band is aware that those three songs have gained popularity on the net.

a little question to the people who attended the gig...  did they add another solo to IRS?

Doesn't necessarily proved that the GNR camp leaked anything.  Axl's a shrewd MF'er...He was well aware of WHAT leaked.  He only played what we'd heard, while giving us "new" additions to the setlist that didn't require that the band unleash anything unheard as of yet.

It's not really a rock song, bro. More like an experimental pop tune.

You do have a good point though - Despite the fact that I love the song, it doesn't really work as a "live" song - Axl's got enough ballads, and more "low key" stuff would slow things down way too much.

the fact that it seems he just laughed the leaks off and didnt rant about them is interesting, to say the least.

it was either an ingenious marketing plan to build buzz for the tour or just a strange coincidence that forced new songs into the setlist. either way, im gettin more and more amped for Dublin :beer:

I dont think it proves they leaked them, they used the leaks to their advantage, it allowed them to play more new songs without getting more unheard stuff bootlegged or whatever

Myabe if they weren't leaked they would not have been played at all.

1/2 the crowd was singing the leaks with him.  And he called us a bunch of downloading motherfuckers.

They played those songs because they were leaked, but that doesn't mean that GNR leaked them intentionally. These tracks were leaked on the Eddie Trunk CD YEARS ago, although most of us only heard IRS at that time. There's no way they planned this setlist two years in advance.

If it where for one song, ok, I'd understand... But its 3 songs... Well actually 4 offcourse with CITR. But 3 out of 4 leaks played live... Thats just to much to be a coincidence for me, but hey, I believe in the Judas gospel aswell...

lets just pretend we're not 99% sure that the leaks were intentional.do you think that if we didnt get the leaks then they (better,irs,twat) would have not been the ones chosen to be played.has axl thought,right,i cant afford to let any more material be heard so ill have to play the songs that were leaked.

Me too. It was rather contradictory Axl saying that he hadn't listened to the leaks - I mean he would want to learn where they came from,right? But then later while answering to Trunk's question about rumours he said he had to keep up on them because otherwise it would be a lot worse. Add to that the fact that while commenting on the leaks he said ppl would hear the solo and say someone else wrote them because they don't like the ppl who's playing it, etc - Eh has Axl been reading the forums ? How does he know? I find it odd he doesn't know Baz  is doing a reality show on TV but knows about that.
Anyways, when he said that some songs are still shuffling around CD 1 and 2 I said BINGO
