Stone Roses & Slash? Reports indicate that former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash offered to join British band the Stone Roses after guitarist John Squire left the group in 1996. However, frontman Ian Brown turned him down and apparently regrets the decision. Brown says, "I wish we'd taken him on. But at the time we were like, 'No, we hate Guns N' Roses, fuck off. Is he going to bring his python with him?' "But now I think it would have been amazing." That certainly would have made for an interesting combination. I reckon Slash could have fit in quite well with the kind of laid back sound they had. You could see him coming up with an amazing psychadelic bluesy intro or something.

put it this way, geffen signed them, even at the height of GnR's fame. There manger fucked them over, made them sign bad deals and took all the money, they couldn't record a follow up album for 4 years because they where in court trying to break free of their manager! They could have been 1 of the biggest bands in the world! I like some bands that are similar to them but for some reason the Stone Roses just never did a thing for me. They are a band that were big in the UK but never really translated well outside of the UK. I just can't imagine Slash playing with them. It would be different and he would add some life to them, but it wouldn't be a fit at all, in my opinion.
