i completely agree with mike, except for the "axl looks stupid" part... he is a rockstar. he can wear whatever the fuck he wants and i actually really think it`s cool. and except for the korn party, he only wore leather jackets and looked like an normal guy.... of course something certain people complained about as well :hihi:

i`m one of the people on this board that don`t like scott weiland, but i rarely talk about him or insult him... i just don`t care about him at all. i don`t visit the VR board often, too, even if slash and duff are in that band...

what really annoyed me though, was his stupid "response" ( it`s not even a response, since axl didn`t even direct one sentence to scott...) to axl`s legal press release. i don`t think axl`s statement was necessary, but there are probably reasons for it, we don`t even know about. scott however, acted like a complete jerk and i lost any respect for him i ever had. (some of his stp work is still cool...) i`m pretty confident axl didn`t lie about one thing in his statement, otherwise we`d have seen a really bad mudfight starting...

When I was a youngin' (pre-teen) way back when I thought the Warren Beatty rant was awsome...of course if it happened today I would think that Axl should grow up.  Axl's rants are sweet because they speak to the rebellious youth--or at least those who want to be rebellious.  It doesn't really matter what the man says as long as he says it in his angry/funny-ass way, then it's all good.  He's an entertainer...but not in a phoney way!
he's an original...can't be duplicated or replicated...he's "one in a million"....

I know that Scott said some things he should not have, but hasen't Axl called people out and insulted other artists before? On a serious note, I really want to know why the 2002 NA tour was canceled. I hope Axl addresses this during a concert or maybe in an interview. The feeling that CD might be out soon, and the anticipation for the tour (even though I'm not going) is really starting to set it on me. I can't wait!

Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that some people are just plain going to look at Axl as a saint? Or the greatest ever? Or better then everyone else ever? Again, this topic was meant to stay on the subject of what you want to hear Axl talk about at the NYC shows. It's not about whether or not Axl is better than anyone else. You guys keep poluting the damn thread with this. Why not start your own thread entitled "Axl is NOT the greatest of all time" or "Weiland is just as good as Axl", I'm sure you'll get plenty of action in it and the people that actually want to discuss this subject can.

I find Axl's rants highly entertaining. Its what makes part of the show, the unpredicability you don't get at many gigs these days. People would be complaining if there were no more rants. I wanna hear about leaks, ex band members, Jon Bon Jovi (hope he gets him good and proper), Scott Weiland, courtcase, the internet, his jerseys and braids, the New York Times article etc - mix this in with a healthy dose of great music and (maybe) an album release date and we're all set for some great shows.

Axl should focus on his own shit and not others - majority of people that axl rants on have moved on, succeed and gain a lot of fame. So, i'm going to the Budapest concert because of the music and definetlly not because of his speeches. If I wanted a great speech show, I'd go to Dave Chappele or Pablo Francisco and laughed my ass off... I payed for the music and the show. Who to fuck he thinks he [Axl] is? Martin Luther King?

My gut tells me the following will happen:

May 12th - Axl pretty silent ?- I think he thanks the fans - maybe even gets a "welcome back chant" but no rants - He might make a comment about the old line up ( for all of you expecting the old band, sorry blah, blah, blah)
May 14th - talks about the reviews from the 1st show - if any bad ones- He may talk about the last tour, might not
May 15th - Here Axl is in the swing of things, I think he talks about the internet, leaks etc. . .
May 17th - This where Axl will be at his best, I think he will be vocal as hell, as it's the last warm-up show. ?I think he will talk about CD, the US leg of the tour, anything else that's on his mind.

Things Axl will stay away from:
He will stay away from mentioning the old-line up by name. I see him talking about the rumors of the band getting back together, but no trash talk on Slash, Duff, Scott or VR in general. ?I don't see him addressing the law suit or the letter, but he may referense them.

That seems like a pretty good prediction. Any mention of a release date the doesn't include the word "Soon" is fine with me. lol.

People need to relax and not take this stuff to serious. ?

Why do people beg for rants? Do you not realize how someone's frame of mind changes when going negative in a setting like that? Seems like people would prefer a really good show instead of wanting a vibe in the venue that could spark a riot or an early Axl departure. Rants every night in 2002. Short tour with many problems. You wanna repeat of 2002? The entire 2002 fiasco cant all be blamed on rants, but it definitely played a role.

Axl didnt' rant every night in '02 and even if he had it didn't play a role in the tour being aborted, lack of ticket sales had a hell of alot more to do with it.

As much as I'd like to hear Axl's thoughts/comments on many rant-worthy topics (*cough*lawsuits*cough*) and as much as I love that Axl speaks his mind... I'd be happy if these and likewise negative things were not on his mind.  I'd be really pleased just to see him smiling and having a fucking blast up there with the band...   he and they have worked their assess off and invested a lot of time to get to this point - they deserve to fucking enjoy themselves.  It was kick ass at HOB - Axl was in such a great spirits and the mood was magical.  That'd be kick ass for the Hammerstein shows.  :D

He should save his breath so that he can sing all the right notes and get all his entrances right. I'm going to be honest, I don't care what he has to say about the media, or society or scott weiland. I just want good songs performed well.

Weiland, during the tour VR did with Hoobastank (who btw, HoobaSUCK and can't play their instruments for shit), did a big 15 minute rant about the record companies. At the Jones Beach show (the venue sits 14,000 i think), he jumped off from the stage and climed to the 2nd Mezz, which is high up, and while the band continued to play one of the songs, he was ranting about how record companies fuck rock and roll over and don't release any more good music, which is why it seems like rock is dead. He spoke about how they're so concerned with pop and shit that rock doesn't get it's due credit)

Back on topic though, if Axl were to go on a rant, I'd want it to be about politics. I'd love to see him rip into George W. and the war. And then, talk about how he's writing another anti-war song...another GNR anti-war song would be AMAZING :D
