Title: The GCB Post by: loretian on May 02, 2006, 08:08:47 PM Greg Cardinal (a friend of mine) went into a studio not too long ago to record some tracks, hopefully for an EP.? The band wasn't quite as tight as he hoped, and the engineer was fucked up the whole time, so the resulting recordings weren't so great.? They gave me the tracks to see if I could do anything with them, production wise.? ?I worked on a few of the songs, and I thought I'd share some of them with you to see what you all think of them.? Both as songs, and production-wise.
They definitely have a very classic rock type feel to them, nothing like the music I've released.? It's been good practice for me, and definitely been a challenge, particularly working with the drum tracks, but I think they sound pretty good for demo tracks. Anyway, here they are: Here I Am (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/here_i_am.mp3) Ceremony (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/ceremony.mp3) Junior (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/junior.mp3) Two Idiots (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/two_idiots.mp3) Hello Elizabeth (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/hello_elizabeth.mp3) New Kind of Groove (http://www.joethederelict.com/music/gcb/new_kind_of_groove.mp3) Let me know what you think!? : ok: He has a website (http://www.gregcardinal.com) and a myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/gregcardinal). Title: Re: The GCB Post by: Dont Try Me on May 03, 2006, 04:29:07 AM I think they rock loretian! I listened to all of them..... I like Ceremony the best, as a song. Indeed a very classic rock feel to it. Even funky in this song. :D You did a great job on the demo tracks man, drums sound just fine to me.... especially for demo's. I bet Creg Cardinal is gonna be happy with these demo's. good job.

Title: Re: The GCB Post by: Deez Nuts on May 08, 2006, 05:41:16 PM This music is pretty cool, thanks for sharing.? I've heard of him but never gave a listen before.? Was he influenced by the Mats at all?? I hear alot of that on the four myspace songs.?
Here I am sounds like it could fit right in on Bash and Pop Hello Elizabeth sounds a little like Color Me Impressed I agree with Don't Try that Ceremony stands out.? Production wise I can't help you out at all cause I'm on a public computer with only one good earpiece on a set of shitty headphones, but it sounds good to me.? Edit: gave here i am another listen and this one is right up there too, just read his bio, his show links doesn't work so if he plays around MPLS you should post in this thread.? If he's ever looking for a band or two to open for him, even on short notice, have him give one of the bands in my signature a holler.? ? this quote is awesome, I'm a huge Gearhead: Quote I'm hesitant to say this, because of how revered they were and because so many of their fans didn't get the fact that they were more than just a party band. But this six-song EP is one of the truest slices of twang-rock to come out of these parts since the Gear Daddies... He's definitetly influenced by the Mats, as well as Bob Mould and all the local Minneapolis bands. Dave Pirner's brother used to be in his band too. ;D
He hasn't been playing too many shows lately, the band is kind of retooling at the moment, but i'll be sure to let you know when he has any more gigs coming up. He played the terminal (half a block from my office actually) just a week or two ago. I also sent him those myspace pages.. Hopefully I'll see you in NYC!! Greg is taking a break from his band right now to do some school courses, but he's rocking out with some local guys here and there, including Dosh, who's starting to get pretty big.
