If you listen to the episode, you'd hear that he supposedly auditioned but is not in the band.

It's at the very END of the episode.

Oh for goodness sake!

There should be a sticky thread called "No more rumours about 3rd guitarrist"

Lenny Kravitz, Brian Kehoe... Who's next?

Exactly. It's only 11 days then we'll know all. Maybe we should hold off threads like this until then.

Really?? Or is that sarcasm?

'Cause the DT band has gigs lined up straight through the summer...2 Euro gigs and then a US tour in support of the Allman Bros and Tom Petty.

Add to that that DT has said he's playing with Clapton all summer....(busy guy)...and I think it's unlikely, at best.
Someone might wanna cancel those gigs...

Isn't Brian Kehoe a former associate of Les Claypool?

One of Brain's buddies, quite possibly.

Far different style. ?Derek is a bluesman. ?I've been watching the kid play since he was playing songs live with The Allman Bros. at age 9. ?Never going to happen.

They'll know in eleven days, and seriously, how the hell would we know who the new guitarist is if there is one?

Yeah, I agree.

For the record, I WAS being a bit sarcastic.  He's locked up through the summer, even if Axl did want him, and not likely to cancel those gigs just for Uncle Axl, even if he asked.

It's fun to speculate, that's my point! There should be 1 thread to all the 3rd guitarist speculation/rumours.

It's not fun, however, to go to the main Gn'R section and find at least half a million threads speculating who it is, IF there's even a 3rd one.

Just sit back and watch. We are gonna find out in less than 2 weeks!

Oh I know you were Pilferk. ?I just wanted to kind of clarify for some of our newer posters (or maybe someone who hasn't heard the recent Derek rumors). : ok:

I heard Slash auditioned for GNR October 2005 at 5:30AM, not appearing to be under influence.  But I mean, that's not gonna happen. Can you honestly imagine someone like Slash playing in a band like GNR? :hihi:

Funny how generic these discussions sometimes are.

Where's Izzy Stradlin?

I will not be happy til Axl gets Paul Gilbert or every guitarist but, Paul Gilbert... Lets just throw up as many people as we possibly can. I also think that if Dean Roland from Collective Soul is doing nothing we go hunt his ass down too.

I am going to say that Balsac the Jaws of Death from Gwar is the new guitarist.  He decided to join GNR on their reign over the free people of earth and temorarily leave Gwar to help crush humanity into a tiny maggot-sized entity at the wishes of such elite right wing people such as Father Bohab and Don Drakulich.  This should squash all rumours that Nigel Tuffnel is the replacement.

yeah man, where's izzy?

didn't axl say he talked to izzy just a whike ago, to rolling stone??

it's would be much more interesting if izzy came back and/or worked on the record than slash or any other musician imo....

where the fuck is izzy??????

I don't see the need for a 3rd guitarist

I had that Izzy thought also... Izzy did write a song for Axl a while back, and Axl mentioned speaking to him... seems like they're on ok terms. Everyone always says "well Izzy doesn't wanna tour" etc. but that was ages ago with all the excess... seems like the new band (free of drugs) would suit him ok.

Izzy/Fortus/Finck? Would that be workable? Trading leads?

why not just get a touring guitarist, and when in the studio do what NIN does? and then they dont have to worry about adding a third guitarist

then its no big deal who plays, as long as the player can handle the songs

Personally, I can't wait until the 12th.  Not only will we find out who the new guitartist is, assuming that there even *is* a new guitarist, but we can all hopefully have something new and legitimate to discuss.  All these repetitive rumors and "wouldn't it be cool if..." threads are making my head hurt.

Will we know ?

How can we be sure there is a 3rd guitarist ?

Even if they have one in NYC that person may only be a fill in until they find a permanent guy.

Axl did a little solo at rio.   It was ok at best, but still better than finck.

Ohhh yeah the need for a third guitarist is finck

I for one, have no clue on who the 3rd guitarist may be, assuming there is one.
But, being from Lafayette, IN area myself originally, I would love to see Axl and Izzy on stage on the 12th.  That would be assume
