i have been to 3 VR concerts and i have to admit scott does do the GnR songs justice, he doesnt ruin them, of corse axl is way better but scott doesnt kill them!!its not his fault he has to sing them, duff and slash have a right to play them too as well as axl

I'd like Axl to write his own lyrics and sing it.  Slash's solo in Slither is AWESOME.  Throw Axl in there and you got an instant classic.

i'd like to see Axl replace scott, stinson replace duff, fink/fortus replace Slash and that other jackass, brain can replace matt sorum, then lets throw dizzy in there..... then replace the music of slither with a better song like TWAT........... yeah that would be cool.

since there is lack of new axl material and i love his voice and work so much in my deprived axl state, i would love to hear axl on any track i could hear axl on, anyway the vr stuff so far is basically gnr tracks without the input of axl...(nor izzy but still)

VR are good and Fall To Pieces is such a brilliant song. I hope some of you wake up and realise this. The only problem with this song is they should turn Slash's guitar up a bit.

I'm all for giving VR the credit it deserves, but lets not overstate things in the opposite direction and make them, or their material, into MORE than they deserve, either.

I think it would be great if Axl sang Slither. I also think it would be great if he sang Big Machine and Sucker Train Blues. In fact, it would rock if the new GNR did a cover of the VR set list from 2005!! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

If Axl were to cover any VR songs Id want to hear Superhuman or You Got No Right more than any of the others.

And to whoever said Fall to Pieces is "brilliant", well, the majority of the guitarwork is very reminiscent of Sweet Child O' Mines' main riff, so it's no real wonder..

I think it'd be cool to hear GNR do a VR song, but don't hold your breath.

I'm not big on Slither, it's a good song and all, but I'd much prefer Fall to Pieces or You Got No Right (by far the best song on the album in my opinion).

Would Axl sound as good as Weiland singing a STP song? No, does Scott sound as good as Axl singing a GnR song? No. People suit there own songs that they write.

I couldn't picture Axl singing any VR songs, nor would i want him to do so. I think Scott does an excellent job when he covers Guns and Roses "It's so Easy", "Used to Love Her", and "Mr. Brownstone." But then again, those aren't songs where you need an "axl" voice. For instance, i would never want Scott to cover November Rain or Estranged

So, I think it would be funny to watch Ax play around with an STP classic like Plush or Interstate Love Song. Friendly fun, and nobody gets hurt except for a fragile ego or two.

IMHO, Contraband is a good album.  As good as AFD or the UYI albums?  Course not.  But it is a good rock album - much better than a ton of the shit being released today.  Personally I wouldn't mind Axl singing Fall to Pieces.  However, I think it would be AWESOME to hear him sing Neither Can I.  That song, to me, sounds like it would have fit right in with the UYI albums, along with some other Snakepit tunes.  Just my 2 cents.

BTW I also don't like New Gnr Haters who hang around new gnr forums.  What's the point in that?

Madagascar and The Blues are awesome songs though... It's just hard to compare them to a hard rocking song like Slither.

Adhesive Love is one of the saddest songs ever in rock history. I think Scott Weiland is an excellent musician. I'm a huge Velvet Revolver fan as well as a Guns fan.

I don't know what everyones problem with VR or Scott Weiland is. I know a lot of you have made reference to the fact that he's a former junkie and whatnot, but if you listen to the album, he sings about his drug abuse and pain that stemmed from it. I'm not saying he's a model citizen, but he's a rock and roller...how many rockers did drugs?

I'd love to see what would have happened to the Beatles if they said no to drugs...would they be regarding as the legends they are today?

...Anyway, as said before, Axl shouldn't do a VR song, but I think he could tackle Interstate Love Song or Plush pretty well.

All this discussion about Axl and Scott has me wondering: do you think he'll say something about Velvet Revolver during one of the shows?? I've always wondered what Axl thought about VR anyway; it'd be really cool to see if he makes fun of them or praises them or even acts as if they exist.

I really liked, and still like set me free.  It was their first single and I was hoping a lot of other tracks would be that rocking, but they weren't unfortunately.    I think VR is better in person than on that recording, at least seeing slash and duff rock out is cool

i like all of the VR songs but most have sub-par vocals on them. I would not like to hear axl sing slither because it's not a unique sound so it would sound so similar to the way it is.

Just like Weiland can't do what Axl does, Axl can't do what Scott does. Certainly his current guitar players couldn't handle Slash's work on Slither, and since it was written for/by Scott, he would sound better singing it. NuGNR playing Slither would NOT make VR sound bad, it would probably backfire in Axl's face. Axl stick to GNR, Scott stick to VR/STP. They sound better that way.

and given many of the fans weren't old enough to appreciate and grow up with the band they may tend to side with Axl because for some reason, people can't be fans of both bands :-X
