LOL, was watching through some clips i had of RIR 3, and i came across this fuck up at the end of Oh my God. I just hope that ther a bit more together this time round......

Dude, I think that was intentional.  I thought it was cool.

first: they had barely rehearsed together.

second: it was intentional and axl's voice sounded kick-ass at the ending.

nah if you listen to the tone of axls voice, and the key that the music is in, ther both in totally different places. Like at the end of the song it scales up, axl was a scale behind all the time.

I've watched RIR3 a million times and love Oh My God but can someone please fill me in with what he did wrong? Is it when he skips the solos and goes right into "Like the tide down on the ocean...."?

no no, at the end of the song, the band missed out a bar of music, which made them finish early and made axl sound like he was singing out of key, when he was actually singing properly..... Hired musicians = their fuck up not axls

I'm gonna get the full live version of oh my god.  I want to see where the last measure where the live version lines up with with the recorded version with the vocals and the music.

OMG i thought would be very difficult song to sing live, when i heard the RIR 3 version, i thought it sounded awesome, and actually liked how the music ended and axl finished up. it they fucked that part up, then i think it was a good mistake.

How would the entire band skip a bar though.  Could it be they rehearsed it that way without Axl and he just didn't know they were going to fuck it up? 

If not wouldn't the guitarists be playing two different non harmonizing chords at the same time?  It sounds like the music progresses step wise. 

The thing with Axl and the band being out of tune is, Axl has a tendancy to be that way sometimes so, I don't know if that is good evidence.

If it was a fuck up, then the band is very talented! Even when they fuck up they still sound good. ;D

I'm with Cjc on this one, I too thought it was a fuck up at the end of OMG. It didn't sound intentional at all. ?However Axl covered it up VERY well!

Who cares anyway? There were a few noticible fuck ups at RIR but it was still an amazing show, and the band grew much tighter after that show.

Some people are idiots, whether it was intentional or not, someone posts that he hopes nothing like this happens on this tour (assuming he thought it was a slip up) and everyone get's defensive as if he was calling you ?::)

I personally didn't think it was intentionally but since you've brought it up I'm not to sure. The worst part of it is the mix especially the intro, it was the soundmans fault not the bands but you can barely hear Axl to start off with.

Yeah the beginning was messed up definately.  Damn disco beat threw every one off, they were too busy thinking about dancing damnit

It wouldn't make sense to change it in like 20 or so days, maybe from 99 - 01.  Is there any recording of oh my god after rio?

Though I think it would be cool to re-arrange the song so they do something similar but have it planned out and on key. 

Also Cjc... with your ear judging the live and the recorded.  Do you think the band skipped a bar or ended a bar early?

The band missed a bar just before the music starts to climax at the end, as they do end up on the right note for the end, but just a bar early

I think the band ended the song early - and I think it makes Axl sound horrid  :o  Yeah!  I said it Horrid.  Don't label me an Axl hater because I don't agree with the people that think it makes him sound great.

That being said - Somebody fucks up the end of Patience (either the band or Axl) but either way I think it's my favorite version of Patience - and I think Axl did a great job of covering up for who ever mae the mistake.  My gut tells me that Axl lost track of where the song was because he was running into the crowd and his ear piece was in and out - but the outtro is great! - I love how axl scream ahhhh this tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmee - I think it's around 5:25 in the RIR3 version

What? The band did not ended the song early. Axl just sings a verse that wasn't supposed to be there.. When it goes to the ending, Axl tried to sing the right words, but it was already out of the regular tempo.. That's why the instrumental ends and he was still singing.

Of course it was not intentional. And it was Axl mistake, not the band. That's why I prefer the HOB version (or the studio/demo version)...

I think it sounded bad as well. But Axl worshippers know more than I do.

Oh my God is a great song.... The studio version is great. However.....the live performances of that song.....the vocals....  :'(

I almost haven't ever talked about this topic on any board because I always get my head torn off for saying Axl or his band could make a mistake! I'm glad to see that at least some folks can admit it. I think it sounds cool if you know it's coming, but I'd prefer to hear the song with the band playing until the end the way it was recorded, but I'll take that version too.

well axl is in his 40s (i think) and the band he has now, in my oppinion, arnt that great so im sure the odd fuck up here and there or axl not sounding right or whatever you wanna call it is gonna happen sometimes.

No they didnt. Axl sung the same line twice by accident. It still sounded cool the way the music stopped and he did the last line though.

Of all the new songs its the one I listen to the most.  Its a great piece of work lyrically and musically.  In my opinion, of all the new songs, would do the best commercially.

Not to be on Axls junk but the fuck up and all bein said i think that his voice was amazing on the Rio version.  I just listened to it for the first time in a while and i was suprised.  And him singing at the end without the band was pretty cool.  And besides no ones perfect.  He/The band fucked up so what? Its not like some small fuck up that can almost go unnoticed is gonna make the entire performance go down the drain.
