Jungle is always the best opener to get the crowd going, so my bets are on Jungle.

Jungle is great, but it was there trademark in 2002.  I would like them to open with SCOM, put off WTTJ until the middle of the show.

It's corny to open with WTTJ - we want a new concert, not a musical review of the band's back catalog.

That's essentially what the 2001-2002 concerts were since they played the same songs in the same order every night.

Better would be an awesome openner specially if they want to move past the ol' stuff and really get somewhere ....

I think the band should open with Jungle but I think as they take the stage they should take the stage in the dark to a trance style Jungle remix. That would be cool.  I also think ending their shows with Paradise City has become such a cliche. I think maybe they should end the main set with PC but stop useing it to close out the shows. I don't feel Guns N' Roses has ever had a perfect song to close out their shows. They definately have a ton of songs that can open shows but nothing that really ends the show in an epic way. PC was good but it's been 20 years time for a change. Maybe TWAT to end the shows?

wttj fires me up the most.. but i would like them to change up the setlist.. or atleast the order this time around.. i don't know how anyone can say that any of the new shows were even close to any of the old ones.. by the third show you pretty much new exactly what you were going to get.. don't get me wrong.. i went the vegas show and the nyc show.. both were awsome.. but it would have been so much cooler if they threw something a little diff in there.. like in one of the live coma boots i have.. axl leads into it by saying "we're gonna try somethng we haven't played in while..."  suprises like that make a concert so much better..

WTTJ followed by Chinese Democracy, then mix it up.  I liked that they started with WTTJ, played SCOm dead center and closed with PC.  Now if only they would ease up on the AFD album tracks a bit and play more new stuff.

Wouldn't you guys shit your pants if as the crowd was getting anxious all of a sudden that massive heart beat from Coma rumbles through the arena for a prolonged 30 seconds or so and then the band proceeds to rip throgh Coma in it's entirety. I would literally shit myself. :o

I'm sure once they release the album, then two(by god if it ever happens), things will be shook up....

I hope for It's so easy, it's a cool song and regonisable for all fans, also for the ones who didn't watch Guns as closely as we did the past ten years. Then the set should exist of a minimum of 50% of new songs. And end with PC, because it's a traditional end and the outro leaves a lot of space for creativity of all members.

WTTJ is the best way to open a show.  On the 2002 tour when they opened with it, one of the coolest parts of the show was when the lights went dim and the opening chords to WTTJ started playing.  Just an awesome feeling to hear those chords followed by Axl's "Do you know where you aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare?"

 i think that if the tour will be to promote the album *fingers crossed* they should start with a new song, i would go for chinese democracy or a rocker thet we haven't heard yet.

i really cant see them opening with wttj again.its all been done before and im sure axl isnt goin to make a carbon copy of the 02 shows and play mostly old songs.i think youll find a host of new songs wether the album is released by then or not.also im hoping they open with a new song but if they dont then i suppose nightrain would be cool ?: ok:

As much as WTTJ would rock, I had a dream they opened up with Nightrain and they played Paradise City early on in the set!

I wouldn't surprise me at all if they did things totally different like this! They seem to be doing things a little different in how they are kicking the tour off.. so anything is possible.

first song will be a familiar nutbreaker.... I go with Nightrain followed by a new rocker and Mr. Brownstone.

Paradise City will be played early in the set because Axl wants to ring the bell for a new era. Therfor we will have a new closer and a lot of new little climaxes during the show :peace:

As for the subject, I think they should open with either "Nightrain" or "It's So Easy", move WTTJ & PC to the middle of the set and close with something new and punchy, like "Better". The last lines could be great to leave the stage...

At this point in the game, 14 Years would be the best song to open with.

I think the WTTJ opening ends on the same note were CD riff begins, so Robin playing the delay intro to WTTJ down to A (I think it's A, not sure) then ripping straight into the opening riff of "Chinese Democracy" that would be cool.

I agree that to the general person a WTTJ opening is quite the kickoff for a concert, but dont be a nazi you know. To each his own.

Maybe this guys idea of a great concert opening is Elton John cumming on the face of a young boy with candle in the wind playing in the background...

I think it's gonna happen like this. The stage is dark, fans are screaming and pushing around - With camera flashes you can see people moving around on stage. Then a wierd rumble begins on the tannoy - Fans are screaming with excitement now. Axl shouts ''Chinese Democracy Starts Now!'' and the opening chords of ''Chinese Democracy'' break out and as it kicks in the lights go up and Axl is running a road around the stage. That would be fuckin' awesome!

I still like WTTJ as the opener, but I agree Paradise City has been used as a closer for too long-I would not mind if they opened with that, and Its so Easy was always cool as an opener.

As good as an opener as Jungle is...my vote to open the show is 'Chinese Democracy.'

1. It's a rocker!
2. It's a NEW song, for a new era of GN'R!
3. It's familiar to many GN'R fans while still being a new song!
4. It's got a killer opening guitar riff that is reminiscent of 'Jungle's' opening!

i would like to hear a new song as the opener but none of the new songs are what i would call an opener. with that said, unless they open with a new song no ones heard yet than it will be wttj, it's so easy, or nightrain.

I don't know how you can get away from Jungle/Its so Easy combo just to get the crowd going fucking nuts.. then go into like 3-4 songs of new material.. then right into "you could be mine."

Im not sure what I would want to open, But I was at shows whre WTTJ waws used, another where Nightrain was used, anothjer whre Right Next door to hell was used, so if anything , Maybe a big gun, new rocker would suffice!

Jungle, easy, Nightrain, LALT...remind me a lot of GNR 15 years ago. GNR should try a different approach now. Try to open the show with a song people don't really expect. You could be Mine is a great choice, Ain't it Fun, Civil War...

I'm with those who don't want them to open with WTTJ. Most of the crowd will just be standing there, looking at their watches, waiting for it to be over, having seen it all so many times before. It will just feel so tired and predictable, like some sort of cabaret act. It was great after those nine years without it on the last tour, but not this time.

I'd like to see GNR open with something new, and close with something new. "Welcome to the Jungle" could be played toward the beginning of the show. "Paradise City" toward the end. "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain" toward the middle, and no other old songs. I'm not against the old hits, but we've waited a long time. It's time for the new songs by the new band.

Jungle is an awsome song and opener... but yeah they shouldn't just keep the same set list and the same opener/closer. PC was great as a finale when u had Axl and slash ect running around back in the day. But now time to refresh things.

 As much as i love them, i'd drop Heavens door and LALD for 2 covers off Spaghetti Hair of the dog and Black leather i'd personally choose, but any choice would be great, just for a change.

"Right next door to hell" i've loved seeing that (on boot's) open the shows from '91, that really kicked ass live.  Also someone already mentioned Perfect Crime that would a great opener for the fans.  'Double talkin jive' or the ultimate... Coma! - a mammoth song but they did open with it back in the day.  Axl needs to stamp some originality this time around -  i personally think.  So a new kick ass song to open would be the brave thing to do, Go for it Axl!

its ridiculous that they ever played a show they didnt have jungle as the first tune. there isnt an act in popular music that has such a tailored made concert starter in their canon as guns have with jungle - not rocks off, start me up, rolling stone or smells like teen spirit.

nightrain was a great opener, but come on. its the minority these days that have seen guns more than 2 or 3 times in concert and even for them, and people who have seen them less, there is nothing in the present canon that can match the sheer thrill of that welcome intro. nothing.


nightrain was perfect last time round as the main set closer (its my favourite guns tune and i wouldnt like to see it lost in the middle section).

It would be great if they learned more of UYI.  And since they'd have to learn it, they are the New GNR.  I don't know whoever said there's only one GNR,  but that's crazy.  Everybody here knows this is a new band.  They are Technically "Guns N' Roses" but they are not the band that ruled the world in the early 90's.  New line-up=New Band. 

I do love the new band so don't damn me for saying that.  I'm ecstatic about seeing them in New York, and I hope that this group does dominate in their was  like the old one did in their way.

Personally, I'm with the people who think they should open with something old.  To me, it just makes more sense - not every single person in Hammerstein is going to know every single word of the new songs.  If you want to get the entire crowd riled up instantly, give them something they know.  That being said, I would especially love to hear You Could Be Mine or Dead Horse as the opener.  Bad Obsession or Night Train would be good choices, too - IMHO   : ok:

WTTJ... It should always be the opener.  It seems like the song was particularlly made for opening with.  The second song should be a new song and possibly the 3rd.  The audience will get vintage GnR but will be reminded that this is the NEW GnR.

I don't think SCOM is an opener type song.  I'd like to see an old song as the opener, and then song 2 should be one of the new leaked tracks.

IRS might be a cool idea for an opener I never thought about that. I just want it to be something other then Jungle, that's just too obvious and expected. I wish they'd do things the way they did on the first leg of the UYI Tour. They used to open with anything from Right Next Door To Hell to Perfect Crime. I think they even opened with You're Crazy once, but that could've been a different tourm but I know they did open w/ it at least once.

I still stand by saying YCBM would be a great opener if Brain could play the intro right.


But I think "Civil War" would be a good opener.
Imagine them playing the intro with just the lights as silhouets on them, then when the song kicks in the lights go up on the band break out.

That'd be cool too. I know that they are probably gonna open with Jungle, but I'm sincerely hoping for ANYTHING else. To be honest, GNR could probably (and almost has!) open with about any song in their catalog and they'd still get the crowd going.

Anyone think about song two yet? I would like to see Brownstone and It's So Easy moved back to much later in the set so we don't know what to expect at any time.

I think Right Next Door To Hell would be the best possible opener and possibly the longest shot at the same time!
