Title: Lyrics?
Post by: Amari2677 on April 29, 2006, 12:46:59 PM
Anyone know where I can find the lyrics for Madagascar, The Blues, and all the leaked tracks?

Check out a "lyrics" section of a gnr site.   or type that request on google.

Thanks Jimb0...I just wasn't sure if they were listed on this site or not.  All the lyrics I saw elsewhere seem really off.

Catcher in the Rye

When all is said and done
We're not the only ones
Who look at life this way
That's what the old folks say
But every time I?d see them
Makes me wish I had a gun

If I thought that I was crazy
Well I guess I'd have more fun
Guess I'd have more fun

Ooh the Catcher in the Rye again
Ooh won't let ya get away from his gun
It's just another day like today

You decide
If I don't have to
Then they'll find
And I won't ask you
At anytime
Or long thereafter
If it's cold outside
As I?m imaging
How it?s gonna be
All alone

(Solo)

Ooh the Catcher in the Rye again
Ooh won't let ya get away from his gun
It's just another day like today

When all is said and done
We're not the only ones
Who look at life this way
That's what the young folks say
As if they'd ever change
That's not whom I to say
But every time I'd see them
Makes me wish I had a gun
If I thought that I was crazy
Well I guess I'd have more fun
It's what used to be's not there for me
And ought to find someone that belonged insane like I do

Oh no
Not at all (repeat)

On an ordinary day
Not in an ordinary way
All at once this song I heard
No longer would it play for anybody
Or anyone
That needed comfort from somebody
Needed comfort from someone who cared
To be
Not like you
Unlike me
And then the voices went away
From me
So many set the wheels in motion
Haunts our memories
You were the instrument ?
You were the one
How a body took the body
Gave that boy a gun
Took our innocence
Beyond our stares
Some type of moment
There we got it
All alone with her today

Guns N' Roses - Better

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

The hardest part
This troubled heart
Has never yet been through now
We've healed the scars
That got their start
Inside someone like you now

Well had I known
Or I'd been shown back when how long it?d take me
To break the challenge
That brought me home
And all that won't erase me

I never would
Know that I could
No matter what you'd pay me
Replay the part
You stole my heart
I should have known you're crazy

If all I knew was that with you
I'd want someone to save me
It'd be enough
But just my luck
I fell in love and baby all that I wanted was

Now I know you better
You know I'd know better
Now I, know you better

So bittersweet
This tragedy
Won't ask for absolution
This melody
Inside of me
Still searches for solution
A twist of fate
A change of heart
Kills my infatuation
A broken heart
Provides the spark for my determination

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better ohh
No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

All that I wanted was

I know you know you know better
You know I know you know better
Yeah you know me better

(Solo)

I never wanted you to be so full of anger
I never wanted you to be somebody else
I never wanted you to be someone afraid to know themselves
I only wanted you to see things for yourself

(Solo)

All that I wanted was

Now I know you better
Now we all know better
All that I wanted was

(Solo)

I know better (repeat) ?

If I were you
I?d manage to
Avoid the invitation
Of promised love
That can?t keep up
With your adoration
Just use your head
And in the end
You?ll find your inspiration
To choose your steps
And won't regret
This kind of aggravation

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better
No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

Twat (There Was A Time)

Broken glass and cigarettes
Writing on the wall
It was a bargain for the summer
And I thought I had it all
I was the one who gave you everything
The one who took the fall
You were the one who would do anything
One who can?t recall
Where she was while she was sleeping
In another?s women?s bed
Or the doctors or the lawyers or the stranger that she met
If there?s nothing that I can gain from this
Or anything at all
It'd be the knowledge that you gave me when I thought I'd heard it all

It was a long time for you
It was a long time for me
It?d be a long time for everyone but looks like it?s meant to be

Social class and registers
Cocaine in the hall
All the way from California
On the way beyond that stall
To those non-negotiations, to simulate a call
While the battle of mid-evils, and your ways around the laws
That'd keep you up and sitting pretty
On a pedestal of fear
And now you're sleeping like an angel
Near than man who reaped it
If there's something I can make of this
Or anything at all
It'd be the devil hates a loser and you thought you had it all

It was the wrong time for you
It was the wrong time for me
It was the wrong time for everyone
But it looks like I'm 'bout to see for myself

(YEP)

I could go back inside to the place in my soul
They?re all alone, lonely teardrops
Ooh, are calling you
But I don't want to know it now
Cuz knowing you it won't change a damn thing

But there was a time

[solo]

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

Yeah, There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

[solo]

There was a time
I would do anything for you

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all

IRS

Love
Is it true?
What they say of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call up the Private Eye
Gonna get the IRS
Gonna need the FBI

There?s not anymore that I can do
All the reasons that you gave
I'll follow you
To when you plead the fifth, that?d be the end of time, its true

Wouldn?t be the first time I've been wrong
Wouldn't be the last I should have known
Through all the rumors I can tell,
Some things didn't work so well

Well anyway, it feels the same

When you first told me you were gone
So long ago, but I've been here long
To all the luck getting outta the debt
That's the truth and here's the worst yet
Wouldn't even matter the things I say
You made your mind up ah hoc anyway
There's no use now in dragging it on
Could've seen it coming all along

Well it?s true...ooh...I had
My doubts of you

Gonna call the President
Gonna call myself a Private Eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face (??)
Read it daily with your morning news
With a cheap hangover, and the headlines true now

[Finck Solo]

I feel your doing this all for my health
I should've looked again then at somebody else
Feel like I done way more than wrong
Feelin like I never gonna get ya outta this song
Feelin like I'm just too tired to care
Feelin like I done more than my share
Could it be the weight that I've carried on
Like a broken record for so long

And I do
Ooh, oh.
I'm Gonna call the President,
I'm gonna call a private eye
Gonna get the IRS,
Gonna need myself the FBI

Ooh, what shall I do
If I gave my heart to you
It's such a crime you know it?s true

[Bucket solo]

Gonna call the president
Gonna get myself a private eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make it a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face(??)
Read it daily with your morning news
With a cheap hangover, and the headlines true

There's not anymore that I can do

Oh My God

IT'S NOT AS YOU'RE THINKING
AS YOU'VE IMAGINED
TO LIVE IN A SHADE OF
BELIEFS THAT WERE FASHIONED
LEAVE YOU IN SLAVERY AND DRAIN OUT YOUR SOUL
WHAT CAN I DO WHEN THERE'S SO MANY LIARS
THAT CRAWL THROUGH YOUR VEINS
LIKE MILLIONS OF SPIDERS
THAT SEEK OUT THEIR VICTIMS AND WHO IS THE WISER
WATCH OUT
GOTCHA ?

Oh my god
 I can't deny this
I've been taught just to kill and fight this
To bury it deeper where nobody can find it
 Like nobody wanted to know

 So give it away
Like they're not gonna fuck you
 How long can you bend
To come back and haunt you
 To burn past your feelings
 That cause you to suffer
 You're starting to bleed
 They don't discover
 Before its too late
 What will you offer
 In way of ?healing
 I'm so confused, abused, misused

 Oh my god
 I can't deny this
I've been taught just to kill and fight this
To bury it deeper where nobody can find it
 Cause nobody wanted to know

Ooh, if it opens your eyes
This is better than a strong compromise
I was willing to be lost in the shuffle
If only you had let me know
Ooh, if it opens your eyes
This is better than the last compromise
I was willing to be lost in the shadows
If only you had let me know

 And they wont give in
Cause they know what they?ve got
 A kick in the face
Like its all that would matter

 Oh my god
 I can't deny this
I've been taught just to murder and fight this
To bury it deeper where no one can find it
 Cuz nobody wanted know

Ooh, if it opens your eyes
This is better than a good compromise
I was willing to be lost in the shuffle
If only you had let me know

Ooh, well it's on with the show
Like the tides out on the ocean
The waves already set in motion
The only one in the game whose lost is you

Riyadh

Oh-Oh
Ohhhh
Oh, Oh-Oh
Ohhhh
Oh-Oh
Ohhhh
Oh, Oh-Oh

Riyadh and the Bedouins
Had a plan and thought they'd win
But I don?t give a fuck bout them
Cause I am crazy

All my salvation
And all my frustrations
Caught in the lies
No one I love is well ???
Somewhere in time
Where only I can tell

Ohhhh

Ohhhh
Oh-Oh

Riyadh and the Bedouins
So that?s the world that you came in
I ain?t had enough of them
Who can blame me?

Half the time you never win
Nomads and barbarians
I won?t bend my will to them, you ag-gra-vate me
My salvation
And all my frustrations
Caught in the lie
No one I love is well??
Somewhere in time
Where only I can tell

My salvation
My frustrations
Caught in the lie
If you?re at home as well ??
Somewhere in time
And only I can tell

All my salvation
And all, my frustrations
Caught in the lies
If you?re at home as well
Somewhere in time
There only I can tell

Oh-Oh, Oh
Oh-Oh, Oh
Oh-Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh, Oh

Madagascar

I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back
My way anymore

No, I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back
My way anymore

No I?I

Forgive them that tear down my soul
Bless them that they might grow old
And free them so that they may know
That it's never too late

For the many times
What seemed like a memory
I've searched and found the ways you use to lure me in
I've found the ways, oh why it had to be
Mired in denial, and so afraid

If we ever find it true
That we had the strength to choose
I'm freed of all the chains
We held together
( I freed the ball and chains, we had together)

(solo)

I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back
My way anymore

No, I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back
My way anymore

The blues

All the love in the world couldn't save you
 Or the innocence inside
You know I tried so hard to make you
To make you change your mind

And it hurts too much to see you
And how you left yourself behind
You know I wouldn't wanna be you
 Now there's a hell I can't describe

So now I wander through my daze
 Tried to find my ways
To these feelings that I felt
I saved for you and no one else

And though as long as this road seems
I know it?s called the street of dreams
But that?s not stardust on my feet
It leaves a change that?s bittersweet
 That's called the blues

I don't know just what I should do
Everywhere I go I see you
 Although it's what we planned
 This much is true
 What I thought was beautiful
Don't live inside of you anymore

I don't know just what I should do
Everywhere I go I see you
 Although it's what we planned
 This much is true
 What I thought was beautiful
Don't live inside of you anymore

 What this means to me
Is more than I know you believe
What I thought of you now
Has cost more than it should for me

What I thought was true before
 Were lies I couldn't see
 What I thought was beautiful
 Was only memories

Chinese Democracy

It don?t really matter
You're gonna find out for yourself
 No, it don't really matter
You're gonna leave this thing to
 Somebody else

 If they were missionaries
 Real time visionaries
Sitting in a Chinese stew (stoop)
 View my dis-infatu-ation
 I know that I'm a classic case
 Watch my disenchanted face
Blame it on the Falun Gong
They see the end and you can't hold on now

Cause it would take a lot more hate than you
 To stop the fascination
 Even with an iron fist
More than you got to rule the nation
When all I got is precious time

 It don't really matter
Guess Ill keep it to myself.
 No it don't really matter
It's time I look around for
 Somebody else

Cause it would take a lot more time than you
 Have got for masturbation
 Even with an iron fist
More than you got to rule the nation
When all I got is precious time
More than you got to fool the nation
When all I got is precious time

(solo)

 It don't really matter
I guess you'll find out for yourself
 No it don't really matter
So you can hear it now from somebody else

You think you got it all locked up inside
And if you beat them enough they?ll die
It's like walk in the park from a cell
And now you're keeping your own kind in hell
And when your great wall rocks
 Blame yourself.
While their arms reach up for your help
 And I?m outta time

Silkworms

Listen mother fuckers to this song that should be heard
Back down in the gutters, it?s more than you deserve
Kneeling fucking banchee, you know that's what you are
Pussy full of maggots, isn't that a shock
 ?
 What can I do
 With a bitch like you
 You know that it?s true
 All I have
 I ask you
I'll be dammed with a bitch like you
 With a bitch like you
 ?
Get your head down out of the stars
Fucking little schemer got yourself a broken heart
Syphilitic priestess, baby I know who you are
Parasitic demon sucking acid through your heart

 What can I do
 With a bitch like you
 You know that it?s true
 All I have
 I ask you
I'll be dammed with a bitch like you
 A bitch like you

a lot of different people have helped out on these lyrics from the gnr bar, htgth and the AMB

Thanks for the lyrics, I actually wanted them too.

I always thought the Oh My God lyrics were-

It's not how you're thinking
Like you've been right
You've been living a trade-off
Believe your own version
Believe your enslavery and drain out your soul

Made a small change to what the lyrics really say at the point where they're bold, as I've read them from Axl's screens in Greece, I wasn't on stage, I was in the first row...  ;D

After listening the the bootleg from Newcastle, the last line of The Blues is as follows:

Quote
What this means to me is more than I know you believe
What I thought of you now, has cost more than it should for me
What I thought was true before, were lies I couldn't see
What I thought was beautiful, was only memories...

...of only you.

This is what I tried to tell people four years ago, but everyone was so full of that "freed of all the chains" crap that I couldn't get my voice through. I tried to explain how the lyrics continue with something that they have the strength to choose between, not only that they have the strength to choose in general, which would be quite pointless. I've been laying low since then, waiting for the official lyric sheet to appear and prove me right! Now if only someone had the strength to go through all the lyric sites on the web and get that senseless "three more to tame" version removed from their databases.

By the way, in Better it's still "....my infatuation of a broken heart to provide the spark..." In T.W.A.T. they simulate a cause and not a call. And in IRS I would still like that goddamn "when you plead the fifth" line replaced even with something like "inaudible". That's just as wrong and plain stupid as that "three more to tame" in Madagascar. The same with "And ought to find someone that belonged insane like I do" in CITR... what the hell does that mean? (Oh, someone already mentioned that.)

Yes, you're right.

In T.W.A.T. they simulate a cause and not a call.

I'm not so sure about this...

The "three more to tame" was fuckin lame... I never understood what the fuck it meant to the people who "transcribed" the song...

And I can't talk about the "plead the fifth" part, cause it's simply not clear what he says in the song.

At the HOB show the tech guy screwed up and erased the lyrics to oh my god, so he asked axl to write them down so he could type them back into the telepromputer, so axl wrote them down on napkins. After that the tech guy gave the napkins to del james ( I think it was him) and Del gave the lyrics to some fans. Sal (from the gnr bar) got the first verse with those lyrics. A few years ago Sal told us what they said, I think there is a scan out there. Eva also got one of the verses and has it somewhere. So those lyrics (first verse) are from axl so they are 100% correct.

Plus the lyrics the other person posted make no sense, and if you just listen to the lyrics and read both, you can tell the ones that I have are correct.

Haha, I thought it was hillarious! I liked it so much that I used it for one of my email addresses.

There is still some bad grammar, some downright nonesensical nonesense, going on in the current transcriptions, but there is no point arguing with mister "no, but seriously, I'm a trillion percent right because I am" above me here.

I'll wait for the sleeve thank you very much.

Here are some lyrics to IRS (what I got out of the song) there are like 20 different interpretations of what he says, but this is what I got..

There's not anymore that I can do
all the reasons that you give, I follow you
till when you'd leave and it may be the end of time it's true
wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong
wouldn't be the last I'm sure I'm wrong
with all the rumors I can tell
some things didn't work so well

when and where it feels detained <--confused on this one
when you first told me you were gone
so long ago, but I still head on
through all the motions that I've had to set
and that's the truth and here's the worst yet
wouldn't even matter the things that I say
you've made your mind up and gone anyway
and there's no use now in dragging it on
should have seen it coming all along

well it's true
I had my doubts of you
gonna call the president
gonna call myself a private eye
gonna need the IRS
gonna get the FBI
gonna make this a federal case
gonna win it right down in your face
read it baby with your morning news
with a sweet hangover and the headlines true now

I bet you think I'm doing this all for my health
I should've looked again, then at somebody else
feeling like I've done way more than wrong
feelin like I'm livin inside of this song
feelin like I'm just too tired to care
feeling like I've done more than my share
could it be the way that I've carried on
like a broken record for so long
and I do

-----------------
I guess we won't really know until CD comes out though, I'm still trying to figure out what he sings in "The Blues" the part that says:
What this means to me is more than I know you'd believe
what I (Can't figure this part out)
has cost more than it should for me"

No one still knows what axl sings on that part. He keeps chaning it.

What part?

The freed of chains or what ever he sings. If you listen to the rio version, then 2002, then 2006. it sounds like he is singing something different

Is more than I know you('d) believe
What I thought of you now
Has cost more than it should for me

I always thought the Oh My God lyrics were-

It's not how you're thinking
Like you've been right
You've been living a trade-off
Believe your own version
Believe your enslavery and drain out your soul

No those are wrong, the ones I have are correct
how do you know they are? please fill me in..... im curious.

HOB was after it was released, and ive heard the Oh My God was actually still unfinnished when released... so he could have changed the lyrics. ?Because after listening to the STUDIO song, reading both versions, these definatly fit alot better to what he is saying.

It's not how you're thinking
Like you've been right
You've been living a trade-off
Believe your own version
Believe your enslavery and drain out your soul

I cant speak for the live version, as its so long since ive heard it, and i dont have it on me anymore.

I am not going to argue about this again. WE already had a huge debate about this months ago, and even had a poll.
And most people said it was what I had. Trust me its correct. I dont know how you can even hear what? you have, it makes no sense. Plus the lyrics that Axl gave are in his own words. If you dont want to take axls word for it then fine but you are 100% wrong.

The lyrics  you think they are dont fit better and are worst lyrically than the ones I posted that came from Axl

I never said that i didnt believe the lyrics that Axl wrote, and i dont expect you to argue, i dont want that... i can do without another negative Karma point since i dont know how i got one in the first place ?:P ... all i said is that he could have changed them since recording the song in the studio. Its not that hard to believe an artist could do that.

I think one give away is the when hes supposed to say 'Fashioned' its definatly 'Version'...

il just leave it at that, coz i dont want an argument :P

I also think that "Ruin the wiser" sounds better lyrically and flows with what was sang before than "Who is the wiser"

Its all good, we will never know 100% until we get the lyric book because like we both have said, Axl is always changing lyrics around.

Back in 2002 I remember somebody saying they saw part of the lyrics to Madagascar in the screen, I think the guy said he read "I'll free the ball and chain, we end together", or something like that, I'm really not sure now...

A little sidepath to this thread, although it stays on topic.

English is not my first language, and although I know a lot about it, there's things that I don't always understand in GNR lyrics. So if it's okay, I'll post a few lines, and I hope someone can explain their meaning. Here's two to begin with, and one a little different one.

Rocket Queen, just before the last stanza: "Of those that take you leave you strung out much too far." Translating it to my language it doesn't make much sense.

Garden Of Eden: what is "slammin' to the crunch" that these people are doing inside?

And the bonus, Mr. Brownstone: the first line of the last part. What is just before "...it drove me outta my mind / I should have know better, said I wish I never met her etc."

In rocket queen strung out means the same as leaving some one hanging.
Basically he was saying he wont leave the girl hanging (alone) like other people  have in the past

Brownstone
"stuck it in the middle, shot it in the middle, it drove me outta my mind"
He is most likely talking about shooting up the herion into his veins.

as for garden of eden, i have no clue

So, you're telling me that on a clear soundboard version of that show you can't hear what I wrote, which I read on Axl's screen's, and you're hearing something else?

That's it, I give up. You're right, the lyrics have changed over the years...  ::)

Back in 2002 I remember somebody saying they saw part of the lyrics to Madagascar in the screen, I think the guy said he read "I'll free the ball and chain, we end together", or something like that, I'm really not sure now...

The guy was obviously mistaking, if you see the RIR gig FROM 2001, you'll clearly see Axl singing FREEDOM OR THE CHAINS.

I mean PEOPLE, the shit that's been written over the years DOESN'T MAKE FUCKIN SENSE. That's the reason I stopped watching the show and tried to make out what was written on Axl's screens...

That's it for me. For those who keep on insisting they're right, I simply don't care...

That is funny since someone that saw the screen in 2002 read something else which means that Axl changed that lyric. I am not saying you are not correct. I hear that is what axl is singing now and you are right, but I dont hear him singing that at every show from the past unless he was just mumbling it or we were so used to the wrong lyrics our minds play tricks on us and that is what he just hear.

I think I found the post that guy made, it was "ravensjacket29", I think in the GNRBar forum, it was his review of the show in Chicago, 11-18-2002, this is what he said:

"- i saw the lyrics screen THE EXACT lyrics for Madagascar.. from Axls teleprompter are
" Mired in denial
And saw heartbreak"
AND
" That we have the strength to choose
Ill free the ball and chain
We end together"

PLEASE do not argue with me about these.. these were what was on the teleprompter. "

I need to listen to the RIR 3 bootleg again though, maybe the lyrics back then were the ones Christos said, then in 2002 Axl changed them to this, and now he changed them back to the old one, I don't know, or maybe this guy who said he saw the screen in 2002 is far-sighted or something :P

I always thought that kid was full of shit, maybe he was. But like I said, I think our minds just play tricks on us because we were so used to hearing it wrong, we just started hearing what we wanted and not what it really is. That is all I can think of

I agree, sometimes you read some lyrics and you become inclined to hear those lyrics in the song, even though they might not be correct, but they sound correct to you
