Title: who thinks they will be hitting the stage on time??
Post by: GNR - CROATIA on April 28, 2006, 11:29:40 AM
How many of you think GNR will be on stage on time (like '93) or how many of you think they'll be late (pre '93)?
Since I'll have to travel to a neighbouring country to see them,  I really hope Axl grew up.

Define "on time". :)

If there's an opener, if they're on stage before 9:30, I'd be shocked. My guess would be more like 10 or 10:30.

If there's no opener, I'd figure around 9.

Have they ever been on time?  I don't think they will but it would be nice for fans to not have to worry about them showing.  Then again, that's part of the fun.

I think Axl will go onstage exactly when he wants too, so technically on time.

When ever my wife says you finished to soon, i always say... "no baby, there is no such thing, there is never a bad time and I finished at the exact moment I wanted too." hehe, just kidding. ?:P

Axl has to behave to get backed for a usa tour in sept on, so he will on stage on time. HE was for the MSG show, so I think for these warm up dates he will too

LOL what kind of question is that?

When I saw GnR in 2002 Axl was late for at least 2 hours...so I guess he will not have changed in the meantime:) As long as he appears at all he can be late as far as I am concerned..

Let me tell you msg they were pretty much on time, I was fucking loaded like a freight train but the wait was not long so who knows.. I think the wait should be short, all that energy on the floor, people getting overly excited anything could happen so don't have anyone standing around to long.. i say hour late tops

no kidding--i doubt i'll even sleep that night. the gates for Dublin open at 3.00 pm--there are two opening acts---i'd say the earliest Axl comes on is 8.00, but probably later.

i seem to remember they hit the stage on time at Docklands about 9-9.30 as i was leaving at 11-11.30 so they were on time then

The doors open at 7:30 but there is no set time for when the show will start

which means whenever axl feels like he's ready i say after 10

If the doors open at 7:30.....and there is no opener.....and they don't go on til 10....

They better put "24" up on a screen over the stage! :)

Or provide us with some other form of "quality" entertainment.

That'd be fine by me.  I suggested as much in another thread.  I'd love it if the band was on stage by, say, 9 PM.

I'm only saying...if they're not planning on being on stage til more like 10-ish, and if they expect us to sit there for 2 and half hours waiting...it'd be nice if they provide us with something to watch...

Dancing girls, strippers, an opening band, "24", singing gorillas...whatever.  Just something so we're not staring at an empty stage.  Makes the time go by quicker.

Oh Estranged...now I really hope you have a happy ending if this is your first show...fingers crossed :peace:
P.S. I thought there was an opening band for these gigs, no?

Not one that's been announced for the NYC gigs.

Tickets don't list one, either.

There's some rumor/speculation that Avenged Sevenfold (who are opening some dates in Europe for GnR) will be opening.? It makes sense since they're scheduled for a couple shows at the Hammerstein on the 19th and 20th after the GnR gigs.? But that's not even remotely confirmed by anything/anyone credible.? So far we haven't heard a thing, that I know of, about a confirmed opener.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out at some of the EU festivals as many of them have strict noise regulations in place after a certain hour.

We'll hear something like this:?
" ...Well, it appears that we're gonna have an interesting evening. You see the... the city council and the promoters say we have to like end the show. And they'll say that I'm... they could say maybe I'm enciting a riot. Now I'm not 'cuz I don't want anyone to get arrested or anyone to get in trouble or anything like that. But I think we got a good 7 or 8 fucking songs left at least to play for you. And I didn't fucking come all the way to fucking England to be told to go back home by some fucking asshole!..."
 ?

I you ask me, they can be late as much as they like, important thing is that they actually show up.
I can wait as long as it takes.
The bus won't leave without me.

If Axl takes the stage on time, half the fans will miss the opening chunk of their set. Lets face it, we've come to expect it... the two shows I was at in 2002, a good portion of the crowd didn't turn up until just before GNR took the stage... an hour+ later than expected after the titty show.

Title: Re: who thinks they will be hitting the stage on time??
Post by: Z on April 28, 2006, 09:39:34 PM

I suggest those going to the show on the 12th NOT assume that Axl & co. will be late.

2002 was a long time ago.  Perhaps Axl intends to do things differently these days.

Fans that have waited around 10 years for album can wait a couple of hours for Axl on stage! It's part of the GNR experience waiting around!

I guess after waiting around all day it would kinda suck but meeting so many people and fans will be awesome. Personally if I was going, Pilferks idea of strippers as an opener entertainment would be damn cool!

Title: Re: who thinks they will be hitting the stage on time??

This what I heard Axl say ...

The show usually starts around seven
We go on stage around nine
Get on the bus about eleven
Sippin' a drink and feelin' fine

sorry about that, Im just pumped up, can't wait for the show, I missed out on 2002 so now this is my chance ... Im hoping if the doors open at 7:30 they come on around 9-10 ... but who knows, i really dont care as long as they show up

Oh you won't hear any complaints from me no matter what time they take the stage.

Just hearing the opening chord of the first song will send chills all through me as I didn't get that experience at the Philly no-show.

But, I'm gonna be there on time just in case.

I was in Columbus, OH in 2002, I enjoyed the wait and the titty and g-string cam to keep things interesting.  In fact, now that I think of it, I would like to see the titty cam in NYC.  Does anyone think they'll have that going on in this small venue?  Even at warm up gigs?

I wouldn't hold your breath - that's generally more of an arena thing.  I don't think I've ever been to a show at one of the smaller venues in NY where that was done.

I'm hoping for a little more stage setup then they would normally have at this venue since these shows are so special, but I sincerely doubt a "titty cam" will be involved.

I saw them in Raleigh, NC in 93 and waited at least 90 minutes from the time Blind Melon went off for GnR to start so they weren't exactly prompt that year either.

If not, just let me know (I'll be at the preshow party on the 15th, and, obviously, the show that night).   I've got the DVR at home recording it and can either a) make a tape and send it off to you or b) mpeg encode it and put it up for you via bit torrent (or something like that)...it'll be about 600 MB...and in HD.

:)
