Title: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Mobenrad on April 27, 2006, 09:42:51 PM I've heard several rumors about this song. This is probably my favorite song of all music in general. When people ask my favorite song, I reply with "Oh My God" by GNR. But...I heard it's not going to be on the album, which I don't care if it is or isn't, but then again I've also heard that Axl has said in interviews that he will redo the song and place it on the track listing. Thoughts anyone?
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: SLCPUNK on April 27, 2006, 09:44:49 PM I hope not............and doubt it.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: bigcash2002 on April 27, 2006, 09:46:08 PM no one will know for certain. ?However, if I had to guess, CD will not have previously released songs on it...even if re-done. ?Especially a song that wasn't all that well received. ?My guess is that 90% chance OMG will not be on CD
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: gilld1 on April 27, 2006, 09:46:52 PM Oh my God, I hope it's not on the album! ?Oh my God no!

Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: EccoTides on April 27, 2006, 09:51:16 PM Maybe - I could see the song showing up again somewhere down the line. After all, Fortus stated during an interview in 2002 that he had purchased a new guitar specifically for the song, which means that they were probably going to work it back into the setlist as the tour went on.
Still, who knows - Considering the old band let a gem like "Crash Diet" go without giving it proper album recognition, anything's possible. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: benchiefjr on April 27, 2006, 09:57:25 PM I honestly see nothing wrong with this song, I love the chorus...the other parts aren't GREAT, but they're not bad either...I've never liked Dave Navarro's work with bands that were popular that he joined and made bad stuff with. (RHCP and i spose GnR...I know he didn't join, but he made the song).
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Niko on April 27, 2006, 10:00:18 PM hope it doesnt make it
i always liked dave navarro job but this track is not worth to be on chinese democracy remember this??????? After 'Chinese Democracy,' Axl says, "Now, there's been some concern... that if we play 5 or 6 new songs, then there can't that many more on the album. Au contraire mon fr?re! We're just playin' the songs we're not considering putting out as singles or anything. So you'll get 18 songs and about 10 extra tracks. And when that... when the record company feels that has run [it's] source, then you'll get it all over again. And by that time, I should be done with the 3rd album! 08.26.02 - London Arena, London, England Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: GnR-NOW on April 27, 2006, 10:19:04 PM I really liked the RIR III version, I would like to hear it on a live album maybe GNR would put out with live CD tracks sometime in 2007, that way they would music from 2001,2002, Europe 2006, and possibly NA 2006. A good plan would be to release CD before the summer then next spring release a live album containing either a re worked OMG, or a version theyll play coming up. But who knows what they have planned.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: SkinnyPuppy on April 27, 2006, 10:20:29 PM I reckon, Oh My God will most likley be a bonus track on one of the singles
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: journey on April 27, 2006, 10:21:04 PM I've always liked it. It's very different and modern. I don't know if it'll be on there, because it's been out for awhile and it wasn't received very well when it came out.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: MR.BROWNSTONE on April 27, 2006, 10:29:31 PM no one will know for certain. ? Thats the best way to put it. I like the song and would not care if it is on the cd. Since it was already released I don't think it will. I think it would be cool on a single and I think it would show up on their next greatest hit one day like how Sympathy For The Devil was and that was only on a soundtrack intill then also. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Back Off Bitch on April 27, 2006, 10:33:48 PM I love this song... The studio track a little better than the live one... One of my favorite Guns songs...
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Backslash on April 27, 2006, 10:35:48 PM Considering that the song was first released seven years ago, they'll have to rework it if they don't want the album to sound dated. ?Unless of course it's a compilation album or something. ?
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: JDA on April 27, 2006, 11:33:18 PM I hope not. I never really got into this one.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Steel_Angel on April 27, 2006, 11:51:01 PM I loved it the first time i heard it. it was bad quality too.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: COMAMOTIVE on April 27, 2006, 11:53:17 PM This song totally grew on me and I hope it is, but I'm pretty sure it won't be. I think there's like an un-written law about tunes contributed to soundtracks
should'nt be on an original CD. I think it's got something to do with royalties , whereas right now OMG is on the End of Days Soundtrack, and anyone who wants it has to buy it, and then all of the other bands on that soundtrack get a piece too. ?So if he puts it on Democracy, he's essentially taking $$$ away from Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc........ Something along those line, at least. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: EccoTides on April 27, 2006, 11:54:27 PM Maybe - I could see the song showing up again somewhere down the line. Maybe "specifically" wasn't the right word, but his quote indicates that the song was coming back. The article is on www.newgnr.com, in the articles section - It's Richard's interview with Anderson guitars: TAGW: Which songs do you play on the Baritom? Richard: Haven't used it live yet with G n' R. I'm going to use it on "Oh My God" and "Silkworms" (from the forthcoming Chinese Democracy record) live. I've used it in the studio on the new BT record and also on the new Deep Dish record. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Krispy Kreme on April 28, 2006, 12:05:16 AM Oh my God I hope it is not.
At best mediocre. At worst, wretched. Get a melody. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Speed Stone on April 28, 2006, 12:53:03 AM oh my god rocks, i've loved it since i first heard the little tv commercial snippet back in '99. : ok:

what the fuck r' some of u people talkin' about, that song is unreal, the words, the music, it fuckin' rocks hard!! Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Origen on April 28, 2006, 03:58:57 AM The kaiser chiefs - "Oh My God" is alot better :hihi:
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: TOPGUNner on April 28, 2006, 06:08:44 AM I think Oh My God just got a bad rap because it's the first new GNR song that came out that was like "OK, this obviosuly isn't the Slash/Duff/Matt/Izzy GNR we've known and loved"
If Oh My God was a leaked tracked that was released a month ago, we'd all go nuts over it. Personally, I think Oh My God is a great song, and lyric-wise, one of Axl's best. I think the lyrics are unbelievably deep. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: grabaraxl on April 28, 2006, 06:31:39 AM i hope so. oh my god is also one of my favorite new tracks.

I've used it in the studio on the new BT record and also on the new Deep Dish record. Aww, crap. That article's from 2003. Hopefully Richard will have some other songs to put his Anderson into good use, otherwise we'll end up hearing Silk Worms all over again! Also, it's funny he mentions the two new songs he's never played live with GNR. :hihi: Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: King Sand on September 15, 2006, 09:04:30 PM I think "Oh My God" is a great song... I'm referring to the RIR III version, which (even at poor sound quality) fucking rocks!! I've never heard more that about 30 seconds of the released version on the End of Days soundtrack (which sounds very weird)... To everyone who doesn't like the song: are you referring to the End of Days soundtrack version, or the RIR III version. I really can't understand all the negativity about it...
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on September 15, 2006, 10:07:18 PM Oh My God's a good song. Rocks hard and it has a catchy chorus and the electronica elements work. The problem with OMG is that in 1999 GnR wasn't cool to like and the song appeared on the soundtrack of a movie that flopped so it kind of came and went without much fanfre. But the RIR III performance was strong
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: King Sand on September 15, 2006, 11:15:07 PM But the RIR III performance was strong Exactly... Again, I only heard a small portion of the version from the movie and what I heard sounded nothing like the version I heard from RIR III.... Anyone know if they played that song again live?? I've checked YouTube for bootlegs, but the only version that ever pops up is from RIR III... Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: themovieaddict.com on September 16, 2006, 12:20:30 AM Didnt axl once say it would be on Cd but remixed?.. yer i think he did. Yes, he said he was forced to release that version but it was only a demo and he has since completely re-mixed the song. In fact you can hear even by Rock in Rio III that the entire intro was more synth-ish and different. Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: monkeychow on September 16, 2006, 01:24:32 AM I really like "Oh My God"...to be its one of the things I love about GNR and Axl's work....like the diversity in style...like on one hand you have appetite style rock that kicks you in the balls, then theres the epic masterpieces, then theres these shorter somewhat experemental but lyrically facinating songs like "My World" and "Oh My God"...all this from the one band is really cool...and is what makes listening to a GNR selection a bit of an adventure....
I mean on one hand i can get why a person who was waiting to hear a song like jungle or estranged might flip at hearing OMG..but then at the same time we'd loose so much if we lost the songs like OMG! Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: robinfinckfan on September 16, 2006, 08:37:32 AM Oh My God rocks! I hope it makes CD
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: COMAMOTIVE on September 16, 2006, 02:57:37 PM I like the tune - but I think it'd be best left as something " outside " of the original albums
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: T_Roxie on September 17, 2006, 12:58:49 PM the first time i heard it, i hated it. Since the leaks its grown on me though.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: GnR-NOW on September 17, 2006, 02:26:06 PM I really liked OMG, especially the RIR III version. I doubt it will be on a new album anytime soon, however if GNR were to do another GH or live album, I would love to see a re-worked version of the song on it.
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Skinflick on September 20, 2006, 12:13:31 PM It will be on CD but it will sound different....they changed the song a bit so it is easier to perform live and so it doesn't sound so messy at times. Apparantly they re-recorded some parts of it between 01' and 05'....Dizzy Reed had mentioned this several months back.....I do like the song but if they tweaked a few things it would absolutely sound MUCH better and more attractive to non- GNR fans... :peace:
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Voodoochild on September 20, 2006, 12:24:04 PM As much as I like it, I wouldn't want to have the song on CD. And I guess it won't be there - I doubt they would put a song already released 7 years ago (I know it will sound different, but it's still the same song).
Hopefully they will release it again as a b-side somewhere... Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Bumblefeet on September 23, 2006, 09:43:31 AM Its a good song but it will probably not make the cut!
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: Bumblefeet on September 23, 2006, 09:43:57 AM I like the chorus but i dont really like the verse!
Title: Re: Oh My God On CD??? Post by: PJ on September 23, 2006, 11:59:42 AM it wont be on cd..
