Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: the dirt on April 27, 2006, 06:29:17 PM Try to stick exactly on the speed limit to the best of your ability. You can assure yourself of not failing because you're going too fast or too slow.
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: GeorgeSteele on April 27, 2006, 06:30:57 PM I failed my first time, so take my advice witha grain of salt. ?What helped me the second time was driving just a tad slower than what felt to be too slow. ?This way when my nerves acted up it wasn't very noticeable. ?Also, to my knowldege, nobody has ever failed for going too slow.
Make it obvious that you're being very observant. ?Approach an intersection very slowly. ?The only skill portion is the parallel parking, so make sure you got that down. ?Good luck! Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Sparksry on April 27, 2006, 06:33:37 PM Ya thanks Alot i think ill be ok on parellel park... i need a bit more practice though But thanks alot : ok:
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: the dirt on April 27, 2006, 06:35:21 PM Also, to my knowldege, nobody has ever failed for going too slow. It's happened. A freind of mine had it happen to him. Anyhow, I passed my first time and I didn't even take practical lessons. Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Sparksry on April 27, 2006, 06:37:05 PM Well the practice lessons are good for me because i get my insurance practically lowered by 200 buck!!! i think... but ya ur right i can see someone failing for going too slow

Does anyone have any pointers... Or experiences? :nervous: Just try to relax. Concentrate on the task of driving, rather than what the instructor is marking down. Try to stick exactly on the speed limit to the best of your ability. You can assure yourself of not failing because you're going too fast or too slow. That's a good point. And make sure to use your turn signals. Also remember to come to a complete stop at stop signs. I failed my first driver's test for yielding at a stop sign. Nothing was coming, but that didn't matter. So take all precautions just to be on the safe side. Good luck. Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: jimmythegent on April 27, 2006, 08:26:26 PM I failed the first time for not having 2 hands on the wheel! :hihi: so keep that in mind!
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: BigDeech on April 27, 2006, 10:03:05 PM adjust all the mirrors, and pretend to, before you head off. Even if they are fine he will noticec.
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Sterlingdog on April 27, 2006, 10:15:07 PM There's too many things to keep it all in mind. Its ok to lose points, just not so many you fail. I'd concentrate on safety type stuff. Full and compete stops, looking before you change lanes or pull into an intersection. We don't have to parallel park here, but we do back up, and park on a hill and know how to curb your wheels.
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: MR.BROWNSTONE on April 27, 2006, 10:31:40 PM Just take your time and you will be fine. Try to nut think about it 24/7 and if for some reason you don't pass your frist time it is not the end of the world for you. : ok: Best of luck to you on the test.
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: tbone947 on April 27, 2006, 10:34:31 PM dont run any stop signs like i did when i took mine... damn thing wasnt even on the road and i got nailed for it.. damn signs.... yeah dont forget that.. lol
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Backslash on April 27, 2006, 10:38:18 PM learn how to angle park!! haha... I passed parallel parking but failed angle-parking my first time out... : ok:
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: SkinnyPuppy on April 27, 2006, 10:48:11 PM Have a few beers before you go to ease the tension. Hahahaha? :rofl:Seriously tho...whatever happens dont get too hung up about it. its really about staying cool. This isint a life or death test... be confident. Greet the tester with a handshake...big smile Know the initial procedures eg/ De-misters,Lo-Hi beams,Indicators,Hazard lights,Brake Lights,Mirror Check As slated above...it dosent hurt to drive slowly....and believe me when people see your "L" learner plates they will take pity on you and spare you a bloody goood honking :-) or well at least they do in Australia I cant stress enough how important it is not to sweat it..... just know that in less than 6 months from now, driving will be as natural as brushing your teeth or having a shag All the best...let us know how it turns out Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: anythinggoes on April 28, 2006, 04:58:12 AM Try to stick exactly on the speed limit to the best of your ability. My Partner failed for that she was doing 50 in a 60 in the rain though she was showing caution but the twat failed her, i passed 1st time back in 1996 after 6 lessons but then wrote my car off 9 days later my partner never had an accident took 2 times to pass. then again i drive like a fucking maniac but have no points and only ever been pulled by the police once for not wearing a seatbelt. Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Queen of Everything on April 29, 2006, 05:22:30 AM I'm going for mine in four months!! Woo Hoo... Tell me how you go and give me the pointers you picked up!
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Irish rose on April 29, 2006, 08:17:38 AM I've been waiting for my test for almost a year now. Thats how bad the waiting times are in Ireland. And you can be failed for going too slow here, they call it "not making progress" or something to that affect
Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: dont_damn_me on May 04, 2006, 02:37:35 AM I'm a driving instructor in Ontario Canada.
When approaching a green light, you MUST STOP if light turns to amber, so treat it like a red light....If you can stop before the intersection (the furthest white line on the cross-walk) then do so, even if car is partially in crosswalk...this also applies for advanced greens (green left arrow) when approaching a green light, if it changes to amber but CAN NOT stop SAFELY before for the last white line then you'r past your point on no return and you go thru....cover brake when approaching close to cross-walk and anticipate the light to change to amber and get ready for the break.....but don't slam on brakes to stop for intersection, once you'r so close its not safe to stop anymore...maintain a steady speed on approach. When approaching a green light, DO NOT make a left or right turn on amber unless front bumber is allready passed last white line(cross-walk) before the light changed from green to amber allways drive in the right lane, failure to do so is automatic failure. must stear into corrosponding lane.....another words on a left turn, turn into the left lane and then lane-change to the right lane. when waiting in the middle of the intersection for on coming cars, (going left on green) position vehicle so front bumper is PASSED the cross-walk ( last white line), until this is done you are not in the intersection and are not allowed to turn on amber light.........also on left or right turns be sure to check the cross-walk which everyway you'l be turning . whenever stopped allways check blind-spot (shoulder check) before turning. at all-way stops, its a 1st come 1st serve basis....if you get their 1st, your going 1st, 3rd car to stop goes after 2nd car to stop,etc.....if two cars tie and stop and the same time then the tie goes to the car to the right......check blind spot before turn. try to go exactly on the speed limit....you can fail for going too slow. hopefully this helps abit....but above all, be confident and drive legally! Good luck! any questions just ask. Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Mama Kin on May 04, 2006, 06:16:22 PM Here's some fun questions to ask people getting their drivers, they never seem to know the answers.
1. What does a silver octagon mean? 2. What do the yellow lines on your right hand side mean? Both the answers are the same. Good luck! Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: TheRaven on May 04, 2006, 06:31:09 PM My advice? Don't take the test in a minivan.lol When I got my license I didn't have any other choice and failed because I hit the curb while doing a 3-point turn. This was down in FL. Most of the driving test was behind the DMV, I think we drove on the street for about 50 feet, no parallel parking (thank God). The 2nd time I took the driver's test I got marked off because I "would have impeded traffic" during the 3-point turn. Duh, I'm in a freakin minivan. Do you think I'd be trying a 3-point turn in a narrow street with a minivan after I get my license? Hell no. But yeah, I passed the 2nd time. I think I got a 70.lol

I've been driving for 15 years and I don't know what you are talking about. Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Mama Kin on May 05, 2006, 03:02:18 AM Think about it. You're driving down the road, you see the yellow lines are on the right hand side of the car, then, ahead of you is a silver octagon. What do you suppose this all means?
This is exactly why I stay the fuck home. If you see the yellow lines are on your right side and a silver octagon, this means only one thing....You're on the wrong side of the damn road. Never even come close. How drunk would you have to be to do that, anyway? Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: TheRaven on May 05, 2006, 11:06:24 AM Think about it. I got 15/20 on my last try ;D I have been practicing driving in a parking lot but my dad is scared to take me because I accidently floored it and almost crashed haha! Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: anythinggoes on September 19, 2006, 04:34:16 PM I'm taking my test tomorrow... :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: I'm convinced i'll fuck it up Good luck Chief But go in with a PMA it will help you better than "I'm convinced i'll fuck it up" Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Hammy on September 19, 2006, 06:11:44 PM I'm taking my test tomorrow... :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: I'm convinced i'll fuck it up Good luck Chief But go in with a PMA it will help you better than "I'm convinced i'll fuck it up" Title: Re: Drivers Test Post by: Queen of Everything on September 20, 2006, 08:21:39 AM I was meant to go for mine like 3 weeks ago.
