many of you would claim this topic is not GNR related, so is his PICTURE. if this topic gets locked so should the PICTURES that are not GNR related. we all here to share info about our favorite band and not looking at pictures of mass murderers. i get the irony in your message underneath it but the display of hitlers picture is just over the top.
i'm not trying to preach or enforce any opinion but i hope some of you should understand how some people might have a problem with that picture.

not trying to take a dig(force down an opinion) at anybody so all you folks out there cool out. if you dont get it you're probably assholes.

It's a joke, plain and simple. If you are offended by a joke, than you need to lighten up and get a sense of humor. He did not do it to offend anyone. It is not meant to make light of what Hitler did, or to slander any group of people. Like he said, it was in reference to the Nazi Moderator claim that a few were making. I think it is a clever way poke fun at certain members being a little to sensitive to their topic getting locked, posts getting deleted, etc.

I think his point was just that Hitler did do some things, for Germany, that turned out to be beneficial to the country.  His improvements to infrastructure, roadways, and industry were noteable, though the reasoning behind them were pretty reprehensible.  He spent years, prior to actual military action, building his "war machine".  Once he was (thankfully) removed, both from power and from the human race, those improvements actually benefitted the country in the long run.

If you remove the nazi discussion, those making the claim cry even more about the censorship of the board.

So, if you remove the avatar, or if the posters "make" Christos remove it...how is that any less censorship.

The other avatar I don't like is cyber punks ass faced one. he might be using it for reasons best known to himself?like, he was called an asshead or something like that. An avatar is supposed to be the embodiment of the poster themselves.

What distasteful avatar other poster puts on themselves, it's theirs not mine. none of my business, really. However, If it were my friends one, I would pm them to suggest something cooler, such as the Chaplin one. As I don't think those who are put at unease by a pic of Hitler would use the word nazi lightly.

Personally I think that at the end of the day, an avatar is just an avatar. Its a small square picture.

A PICTURE.

And if someone wants to have an offensive picture as an avatar... well so what? If it offends you, don't be angry at the person having it as their avatar, be angry at the actual thing that's offending you IN the avatar. After all, the person choosing to have it as their avatar didn't actually DO the offensive thing in the avatar, but they're having it as an avatar because it means something to them.

At the end of the day, there are no offensive things, just things that people who are offended by them.
