Lots of Multiple Nominations this time

Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath each had a staggering 5 albums with nominations & Pink Floyd, Queen, Judas Preist, The Ramones and Thin Lizzy each had 3 albums with nominations.

It's interesting to note that Steven Tyler won the 70's Frontman Survivor but Aerosmith had but 1 single nomination for the 70's Album Survivor...weird :-\

Haha, I wanted to nominate Aerosmith, but they didn't really have a definitive album compared to those offered by other groups of the era.

As for the list, where's Aqualung?  Jethro Tull is awesome!

Yeah Jethro tull was big back then and is a great band but I think aqualung might have been late 1968 or 1969. What about Deep Purple, Lynyrd Skynyrd,  AC/DC, ZZ Top ,Black Oak Arkansas, and The Rolling Stones. 
 

AC/DC and TRS are missing there, but those album are quite great is gonna be a tough one

Damn it, those 3-vote albums are all better than the ones that made it in!  :rant:

People know less about 70's music than from the other decades. Look at how many bands got 3 albums nominated. It's as if people only know about 4 or 5 70's bands, so they have to put in extra albums. Granted, I was tempted to include Judas Priest's album Stained Class, but decided at the end that it wasn't necessary.

I've been trying to fight ignorance, but my Sir Lord Baltimore thread got I think 4 views before it disappeared. People here are really scared of learning about new bands, let alone the classics they missed!  :P

I can't believe nobody nominated Aerosmith's Rocks or even Aerosmith. Guess there aren't much Aerosmith fans around here.  :no:

This is a message board for a very popular rock n' roll band... You might have better luck at a prog forum, for example.

I think most people vote off the albums they haven't heard first.... So I think everyone needs to go buy a copy of London Calling right now and change their votes.  :rant:

I've heard all the albums on the list and it's the one I like the worst... well second worst... Sex Pistols was worse.  London Calling is a good album, but I'm not a huge fan of The Clash's music, and I don't like the album as much as the others on the list.

Sir Lord Baltimore, PROG!?!!  :rofl: It's somewhat trippy and very much 60's hippie inspired, but it's dark like the Doors. It's not hugely progressive like Rush, Camel, or King Crimson, but it has a few prog moments. It's bluesy, heavy rock music with nice bass tone and great production. Makes me wish I could play bass.

If you like Led Zeppelin (and you do, unless you suck  ;)), you would like Sir Lord Baltimore. LZ gets plenty of mention here, so I'd think SLB would be appreciated. Granted, it wasn't a 70's pick for me, but it's top 20 material. This is still a great place for classic rock, but I'm surprised how few people know about this band.

Nah, you missed my point. It doesn't matter what genre it is, you still might have better luck at a prog forum. Just for the reason people are way much more open to new music, and get into new bands more frequently, in those places.

Maybe. On the other hand, they have a tendency to value guitar wankery and double-bass blasturbation more than songwriting skills. Of course, "songwriter" type music is usually very simple, with few differences in structure and composition. I just need a middle ground. Axl is like that. He makes a lot of simple rock and a lot of weird stuff, but he does both well, usually. I'm ignoring My World. ;)

Also, Sir Lord Baltimore did get a bit proggy with their second album, which I just listened to today. The first is better.

How could Bowie, The Clash and The Sex pistols get voted off so early is beyond me. Especially the Clash and Bowie. "Nevermind the Bollocks" is not brilliant ( I think I can play guitar better now than Steve Jones then) but it's refered today as one of most notorious, relevant punk album ever made.

As Eazy suggested, I recommend everybody that's voted off the Clash to grab a copy of "London Calling". This is the most diverse, ecclectic album in the hystory of music. There's folk, rock, punk, reggae, pop...pretty much all the genres are there. I think people are voting off the Clash cause this board is not keen on punk music apperantly. Well, too fucking bad.? You guys are missing out one of the most brilliant albums ever made...

And why did you guys vote off Bowie so early? Honestly, how many of you heard that album?

Hey, don't knock Van Halen.  >:( Paranoid is indeed overrated, especially next to Sabbath's other albums. Van Halen is a great album, though. Lots of metalheads call it metal, but they're just afraid to admit that it's a rock album that annihilates 95% of metal. It's one of my favorites, even now.

There's just too much good 70's music. We need 20+ bands, with 4 or 5 voted off each time. Maybe I should resurrect the ultimate metal tournament.  ;)

AC/DC had more albums that "Highway to Hell" in the 70's. Don't call me ignorant, but i think that  "Let There Be Rock" and "Powerage" were their best albums from the 70's. because the song were much rougher than on "HTH". I mean, i like this album too, but the sound is a little bit to clean. But thats just me.
