Here Today... Gone To Hell!

On MLBC (which stands for Major League Baseball Center) around Feburary of every year, they have something called a favorite poster contest. They have The East, West, North and South Divisions with 16 posters in each combined for a grand total of 64 of the most popular posters.

So, you would create seperate threads and you would vote for the one you want to keep.

For example, it would work like this:

Eastern Division:
Seed 1 vs. Seed 16
Seed 2 vs. Seed 15
Etc...

So anyways, I was wondering if we could have something like that here, I think it would be cool. The one two months ago, I lost and was the 14th seed in the Eastern Division. I lost by a score of 30-2. It was funny.  :hihi:

A Favorite Poster Contest is straight-up like a popularity contest.

Sorry. Not just a big supporter of popularity votes on a board on which everyone can judge each other based on the posts they make. It could be because I'd never do well on one of these things (is it because of the lockings, or the b&w picture.. -the insecure one).

what about expandin each member's profile a little bit, maybe like myspace or facebook? We could all have a friends list to go on our profile, and maybe a little more about each other??? Just an idea.

this is a message board, not a blog, not myspace. and i don't think jarmo has the resources necessary to expand that much! or maybe i'm wrong :peace:

I think it's more because the people who would vote for you tend to ignore those threads. And as a result they just become one big airhead grouphug.

Definitely. You see, a lot of people just don't find this high schoolish shoutout type of routine the way they want to express themselves. If someone whose opinions I respect posted I was his or her favorite whatever I'd think that's cool, but I'd still find those threads juvenile.

The thing is that you have friends, and putting them in some kind of an order is.. well.... it's not for me. Sure you can say that someone is your best friend, but to go like "and then he is second, Jack over there is third... Mary's propably my third best friend.."

You boys really are bitter and twisted.  In the little 'popularity comps' (its true....) I never put it in an order... because a) I couldnt and b) how would you like to know I have half the amout of respect for you as I do for say.... Nevermiss?! (now thats a scary thought, people)

That was an extreme example, I know, but in the end I think that's pretty much how I feel about it. My friends know they're my friends and I pretty much know who are mine. It's not something I feelt the need to put out on a message board and compare lists. I don't know if I'm explaining this clearly, but anywho. It's Wappu* over here (has been for about a week for me, so I might not be thinking straight...)


*Wappu's a Finnish holiday celebrated on the 1st of May, and a huge excuse to get drunk.
