Title: The coolest part of each new song Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on April 24, 2006, 02:33:22 AM What, to everyone, is the coolest part of each of the songs that leaked this year?
IRS, 3:13 to 3:23, "It's a crime you know it's truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue" while the Buckethead solo kicks in Better, the Buckethead solo leading into the metal portion, Finck's solo and Axl's outro with the "If I were you, I'd manage to" line kicking in over with the "no, no, no, no" background vocals, and Buckethead's fills, Axl's vocal melodies in general TWAT, Axl's "Ooooh, broken glass and cigarettes, writing on the wall" intro, basically all of Axl's lyrics and vocal melodies, and the Buckethead outro CITR, the piano intro, Axl's "Everytime I'd see them makes me wish I had a gun" line, the "Ooooh, Catcher In The Rye Again, won't let you get away from him" chorus Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Booker Floyd on April 24, 2006, 04:17:24 AM I.R.S.: The scream into the solo
Better: The last solo into the "All I wanted" vocal There Was A Time: The end solo with the "I would do anything for you" vocal Catcher In The Rye: The last verse Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: jimmythegent on April 24, 2006, 05:20:27 AM For some reason the line in Better "no matter what they paid me" or words similar, do it for me - send a shiver down the spine. Classic Axl.
The solo in IRS, BHs fills in Better and solos in general Several moments in CITR, most prominently the "wish I had a gun" line and verses Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Where is Hassan Nasrallah ? on April 24, 2006, 05:43:36 AM cool post, i wanted to do one like that :)
IRS > " all the reasons that you gave ... I FOLLOW YOU / thought of you! " not sure about the words, but this last 3 words kicks ass. i like it in the chorus when it goes " gonna call myself the ... " the "myself" rocks BETTER > scream part. " i never wanted you to be ... " amazing. the 2.45 guitar riffs kick ass too. CITR > If I thought that I was crazy well I guess I?d have more fun final verse : or anybody, or anyone TWAT each verse, especially " social class and registers ..." and " the pedestal of fear " line ( not sure about the words) and off the two amazing final solos. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: St_Jimmyuk on April 24, 2006, 06:23:50 AM for better id say the shout part "i never wanted you to be so full of anger..... etc etc" or as soon as the main song starts after the high pitch intro that first guitar chord that lets you know this song was sent by the heavens (or axl rose one or the other)
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: elevendayempire on April 24, 2006, 06:32:40 AM TWAT: "I would do anything for yooooou..." <Bucket solo kicks in>
Better: "I never would Know that I could No matter what you'd pay me Replay the part You stole my heart I should've known you're crazy..." CITR: "On an ordinary day..." to the end of the song. Magic. IRS: "It's such a crime you know it's truuuuuuuuuuue" <Bucket solo> SG Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: russtcb on April 24, 2006, 07:32:25 AM IRS "It's a crime...." part........flat out the best part in the song.
CITR The melody. I know thats general, but I cannot get over the melody in it! Better I think Robins last solo in that song is fucking incredible. There Was A Time The middle section where everything fades but the piano, then it kicks up again. Attn haters: Thats classic Guns N' Roses Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: SINSHINE on April 24, 2006, 07:53:46 AM I.R.S. - the scream, "...YOU KNOW IT'S TRUUUUUUUUUUE!"
Better - "All that I wanted..." part and the metal middle "I NEVER WANTED YOU TO BE SO FULL OF ANGER!..." T.W.A.T. - "There was a tiiiiiiiiiiiiime..." into the guitar solo in the middle and, of course "I would do ANYTHING for YOUUU" Catcher in the Rye - "You decide..." section after the first verse! Kicks in with such loud color! Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Ignatius on April 24, 2006, 10:25:52 AM I.R.S.: The scream into the solo Same here. Better.- From the 3:39 mark till the end of the song. CITR .- From 4:17 till the the 5th minute mark. (and the 80's synths in the 2' mark) TWAT.- The bridge on the 2 minute mark. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Reinaldo on April 24, 2006, 10:37:19 AM IRS - Intro (if you play the instrumental version with a vocal remover you'll hear only Finck's acoustic guitar (BH's guitar disappear): that's definitely beautiful); "What should I do if I gave my heart to you"; and Axl's amazing scream.
Better - Outro ("Know you better, know you better") - Brain's drums are terrific there! TWAT - ?"social class and registers, cocaine in the haaalll all the from California, all the way beyond that's stall..."; Outro solo + "I would do anything for you" Catcher in the Rye - "...that need confort from somebody, and need confort from someone who cares to be not like you, unlike me" "That belooonged insane, like I do na-na-na na-na-na..." Pretty cool Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Irish gunner II on April 24, 2006, 11:01:15 AM Ah i dont have the full version of better, and its sounds like it gets better at the end.Anybody that could help me out twould be much appreciated.the version i have sounds like its getting really good when i stops.
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: zakas80 on April 24, 2006, 11:15:01 AM TWAT: "I would do anything for yooooou..." <Bucket solo kicks in> Better: "I never would Know that I could No matter what you'd pay me Replay the part You stole my heart I should've known you're crazy..." CITR: "On an ordinary day..." to the end of the song. Magic. IRS: "It's such a crime you know it's truuuuuuuuuuue" <Bucket solo> SG I totally feel the same way except my fav part of TWAT is the end with everyone joining in for the chorus. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: nygiants82 on April 24, 2006, 11:19:58 AM Better- the verse and the metal part. The lyrics as a whole are absolutley amazing on this song.
IRS- "It's a crime, you know its true!" TWAT- the begining CITR- Unfortunatly, I havent heard this song yet. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: WhatIsItMan on April 24, 2006, 11:25:01 AM IRS - The beginning, the middle, and the end.
TWAT - The beginning, the middle, and the end. Better - The beginning, the middle, and the end. CITR - The beginning, the middle, and the end. Those are my favorite parts. :P Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Where is Hassan Nasrallah ? on April 24, 2006, 11:32:19 AM "...that need confort from somebody, and need confort from someone who cares to be not like you, unlike me" "That belooonged insane, like I do na-na-na na-na-na..." EXACTLY ! Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Eduardo on April 24, 2006, 01:17:57 PM Better - Preety much the whole song. The Riff in the verses are awesome, Finck?s solo
Catcher in the Rye - The "I wish I had a gun" part, the solo, the nananana parts There Was A time - After the first "It was the wrong time for me" part the maind chorus ("There was a time, didnt wanna know at all), the outro, Finck?s wicked rhythm riffs IRS - I like Axl?s voice after the slow solo Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: HoldenCaulfield on April 24, 2006, 02:08:10 PM I.R.S. - Axl's rant after Finck's solo ("Do you think I'm doin' this all for my health...")
Better- The hard riff and Axl's "I never wanted you to be so full of anger" verses... T.W.A.T - Finck's guitar work through out the song. Amazing. "Keep you up and sitting prettay." Axl wailing "I would do anything for you!!". Shivers. CITR - Na na na na na na's. "How about it, took the body, gave that boy a gun." Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: pollyblue on April 24, 2006, 02:17:03 PM t.w.a.t. : when the second chorus kicks in + axl's scream "i would do anything for youuuaaa-a-a-a-a-a-a-aa-aaa-aa...." kick ass!
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Mandy. on April 24, 2006, 02:47:47 PM TWAT: "There was a tiiiimeeeee" [guitar kicks in]
Haven't listened that much to the other songs. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: alexh0618 on April 24, 2006, 03:13:39 PM TWAT: The guitar work is amazing
IRS: Axl's scream then the solo Better: I love this whole song. Not one bad part. CITR: Same as Better Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Better on April 24, 2006, 03:26:18 PM What, to everyone, is the coolest part of each of the songs that leaked this year?? IRS, 3:13 to 3:23, "It's a crime you know it's truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue" while the Buckethead solo kicks in Better, the Buckethead solo leading into the metal portion, Finck's solo and Axl's outro with the "If I were you, I'd manage to" line kicking in over with the "no, no, no, no" background vocals, and Buckethead's fills, Axl's vocal melodies in general TWAT, Axl's "Ooooh, broken glass and cigarettes, writing on the wall" intro, basically all of Axl's lyrics and vocal melodies, and the Buckethead outro CITR, the piano intro, Axl's "Everytime I'd see them makes me wish I had a gun" line, the "Ooooh, Catcher In The Rye Again, won't let you get away from him" chorus Id say exactly the same thing, but for twat I like the third verse the best if i could go back in time to the place in my soul... then into the solo Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: jimb0 on April 24, 2006, 03:50:54 PM Best
Better - Axl's rhasp and his hi pitched, I Never Wanted You To Be TWAT - Axl's estranged vocal style I.R.S - guess... haha CITR - Chris Pittman (WAY TO GO CHRIS, YA'S GOTS ME going Ballistic playing Super Mario to that Part) Werwha werwha Worst Parts Better - that break between the heavy and the reintroduction to the bridge The silent part with the gay effect (Chris you f'd up There man, That Sux) Twat - Where it doesn't seem smooth. There could be a better transition into "It was a long time for you) I.R.S. - Robbins Solo... Kinda Weak compared to his cool Better Solo CITR - I can't name a bad part in this song as my tastes are concerned Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: vicarious existence on April 24, 2006, 05:00:39 PM Better - Axl's voice in general... classic full-bodied rasp, especially during the verses... very powerful.
TWAT - All the solos. IRS - The scream on top of the solo... I think most people agree on this. Catcher - I have refrained from listening to this one (I promised myself not to listen to any more unfinished leaks after TWAT leaked) Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Irish rose on April 24, 2006, 06:15:35 PM TWAT-up and sitting pretty"...pure class
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Eazy E on April 24, 2006, 06:44:07 PM IRS - Scream going into the solo.
Better - I like the start of the second verse... the little keboard bit that leads into "So bittersweet.." Catcher - The keyboard part at about two minutes... I also dig how he doubles up the vocals on the first "guess I'd have more fun" TWAT - This is tough... I'd have to say the "There was a tiiiime" part and when the rhythm guitar kicks in after the piano. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: veritas55 on April 24, 2006, 07:03:01 PM IRS - the scream into the solo is great -- but his vocals are really great through out this, especially the part of "what should I do, if I gave my heart to you." This song REALLY grew on me - I think it's underrated. It's very solid.
Better -- shoot; I didn't know there was a full version. The best part that I have heard is the second time that "no ever told me" in falsetto comes in after the second set of verses. TWAT - the bridge, the bridge, the bridge at 2:00 is excellent. The rest of the song does not blow me away as much as others. I like it, but don't return to it as often as the other ones that leaked. CITR -- the keyboard break is fantastic; totally unexpected and it actually works (I wish it went on a little longer before the na-na-nas, which don't do that much for me); the last set of verses is a great finale. All around, I am very impressed with the quality of stuff I have heard. And I came into this very skeptical of whether Axl could do anything on his own. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: HungerForChaos on April 24, 2006, 07:11:41 PM How come no one's mentioning Madagascar or The Blues? They're new too. :)
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Eazy E on April 24, 2006, 08:05:29 PM How come no one's mentioning Madagascar or The Blues? They're new too. :) 5 years old is not considered new. Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: WhosGilby? on April 24, 2006, 08:35:54 PM TWAT - "But it looks like I'm about to see for myself If I could go back in time to the place in my soul There all alone"
Better - the melody of the verses Madagascar - "Forgive them that tear down my soul Bless them that they might grow old And free them so that they may know That it's never too late " The Blues - "I don't know just what I should do Everywhere I go I see you" Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: 14 Yrs Of Silence on April 24, 2006, 10:35:59 PM CITR from 4 min 20 sec til the end is my favorite 'part' of all new songs :peace:
Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: Axl4Prez2004 on April 25, 2006, 12:15:52 AM IRS: of course, "It's such a crime, you know it's truuuuuuuue!," and the words right at
the beginning before the heavy guitar hits...a great set-up. Better: "Replay the part, you stole my heart, I should have known you're CRAAZY!" The solo into, and including the "I NEVER WANTED YOU TO!..." TWAT: the painful expressions over and over, "I would do AAAANYTHING for you." The guitar solos are mind-blowingly awesome. CITR: definitely that last verse. So good. To think these are only demos...    Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on April 25, 2006, 12:24:30 AM Nothing against discussing the older "new" songs either : ok:
The Blues, Axl's lyrics and vocals in general, especially "What I thought was true before were lies I couldn't see, what I thought was beautiful, was only memories, whoa oh oh, oh oh!", Finck's solo, and the background effects courtesy of Dizzy and Pittman Title: Re: The coolest part of each new song Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on April 25, 2006, 12:32:05 AM One more thing about The Blues, the part in the live performance when Axl jumped on the piano for the outro was very cool :smoking:
