I'll eat the placenta, says Cruise
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is planning to eat his new baby's placenta.

It is the latest in a series of unusual revelations by the 43-year-old Mission Impossible star about the child he is expecting with fiancee Katie Holmes.

He told GQ magazine: "I'm gonna eat the placenta. I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I'm gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there.

Cruise has also claimed he knew actress Holmes, 27, was pregnant, even before she told him.

A follower of Scientology, he has defended the religion's belief that women should give birth in silence.

"It's really about respecting the woman.

"It's not about her not screaming," he has told GQ.

Cruise recently also said he believes he can cure drug addicts.

Reading his comments it seems he's almost odd enough to post on this message board...

I used to like his films - now all I see is a guy on the lunatic fringe. Having no interest in ''celebrity'' I have one question - has he always been so crazy? Its just the last few months stories about him have been everywhere....

And scientology - i'd poke fun at it but i'm afriad Lord Veto or whatever the alien queen they worship is called might actually come get me :nervous:

Interesting. Some of tom's qoutes in there don't even prove that he's mad or a lunatic or whatever. But some thing about him are just really, really strange...

I know there was some speculation that his previous publicist kept him in check, so he didn't run around spouting off all his nutty stuff.  He fired that publicist and hired his sister (I think) shortly before he started making all these outrageous statements and talking about Scientology all the time. 

If that's meant to be humour then it's really really bad humour. Like eating a placenta? What the fuck? That chap needs his head checked, seriously.

I actually saw an article about that interview a few days ago.  Everything was the same, except the one I read was missing the part about the placenta.  Edited out, I suppose.  I wonder why.

Cruise plays down 'placenta plan'
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise has played down reports that he plans to eat the placenta of his new baby.

The War of the Worlds star was quoted in GQ magazine saying he thought the placenta and umbilical cord would be "very nutritious".

But in a subsequent interview with Diane Sawyer on US television, he made light of the comments.

"Yeah, we're going to do that - a whole family thing. Isn't that normal and natural? No, we're not eating it."

The 43-year-old star - currently promoting his new film Mission Impossible III - is expecting a child with his fiancee, actress Katie Holmes.

The couple, who have been engaged since June 2005, plan to marry in late summer or early autumn, according to Cruise.

The baby will be the first for Holmes, while Cruise has two adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

He said earlier this month that their baby was due "any day now".

'Silent birth'

In his conversation with Sawyer on ABC's Primetime show, Cruise said that Catholic-born Holmes has already joined him as a follower of the Church of Scientology.

It followed comments made to GQ in which he defended the religion's doctrine that childbirth should be completed in silence

"It's really about respecting the woman," he told Sawyer. "It's not about her not screaming."

Cruise also claimed he knew Holmes, 27, was pregnant even before she told him.

I know someone who had hers in her freezer.  She always planned on burying it somewhere and planting a tree over it, but since she didn't own a house, she didn't want to plant it and then move.  She probably is still carting that thing around.  And her kid is 15. 

Katie Holmes had her baby earlier today apparently. It was a girl they named Suri.

Yeah, I know a few people who have done that.  When my first son was born, the doctor asked me if I wanted it and I said "why in the hell would I want that?"  :hihi:

He took the interview to gain publicity, which will have an effect on ticket sales whether you like it or not.  Cruise knows that he just needs to say something out of the ordinary - anything - and it will keep the papers talking about him.  Sure the papers took it out of context like they always do but that's something i'm sure Cruise can deal with.  At the end of the day all publicity is good publicity.

I like Tom Cruise, and his movies, appreciate his enthusiasm, and if her were seingle it would be one thing, but I wonder how is e-wives feel seeing and reading all this crap? If my e-girlfriend went on Oprah jumping up and down about her new boyfriend, I would feel like total shit.
